Best Laid Plans-Ch 23
Derek had just gotten finished with his light therapy and while he was resting the doctor stepped out of the room to grab something, leaving Derek alone. He looked up when he felt two hands touching his shoulders, he cringed when he saw Savannah, he tensed up and said, "what are you doing here"?, he leaned down and said, "I'm here to talk to the father of my child about our child".
Derek said, "I really don't want you here, how did you get in here, where is my security detail"?, she laughed and said, "they stepped away for a few minutes". He shook his head and said, "you wanted to talk so talk, speed this up", she smiled and said, "I'm suppose to have an ultrasound tomorrow and I wanted to know if you wanted to be there"?, Derek said, "I don't think that is such a good idea".
Savannah put her hand on her growing baby bump and said, "you don't want to see our child, to know that our child is okay, what's happened to you Derek"?, Derek said, "I'll tell you what has happened to me Savannah, I'm in love, I'm in love and with the love of my life". Savannah said, "ohhhh how sweet, you are with your baby girl now, your deer, sweet, innocent Penelope".
Derek said, "I meant everything I told you the last time you were here, when this child is born and tests prove that he is mine, then and only then will I be in his life". Savannah said, "so you don't want to be with me when I have ultrasounds, or when I go into labor, nothing like that"?, he shook his head and said, "the less contact we have until the baby is born the better".
She said, "but why, I thought you wanted to be in this babies life", Derek said, "when and if it is proven to be mine, which I know in my heart isn't going to happen", she said, "ahhhh, so this is to protect you from getting to attached to our child before you find out for sure that you are his father, is that right"?, Derek said, "right now me and Penelope need time to heal".
Savannah said, "I DON'T CARE WHAT SHE NEEDS, I'M THE ONE CARRYING YOUR CHILD, ME DEREK, ME, NOT THAT FAT COW, ME SAVANNAH HAYES". Derek said, "you can say whatever you want to me or about me but you will not", he leaned forward in the wheelchair and said, "YOU WILL NOT TALK ABOUT HER LIKE THAT, DO YOU HEAR ME"?, Savannah blew out a deep breath and rubbed her stomach and said, "yes my love, whatever you say".
She turned aorund and headed toward the door but said, "you will regret this", Derek shook his head and said, "no I won't" and then watched as she headed up the hall toward the elevators. As he watched her go he wanted to feel bad about what he'd just said to her but he, well he just couldn't because he meant every word.
The doctor walked back into the room and said, "alright Derek, I have you scheduled for more light therapy in a couple of days, we're going to take it easy for a few more weeks, we don't want to do more harm than good", Derek nodded his head in agreement as the doctor pushed him out of the therapy room and down the hall toward the room he shared with Penelope.
When he got back to their door he noticed that the guards weren't there, he looked at Penelpoe and said, "where are the guards"?, she said, "I have no idea, they were there one minute and then gone the next", Derek said, "I'll talk to Hotch, until our case is over we aren't suppose to be left unguarded".
She weakly smiled and said, "how did therapy go"?, he said, "pretty good, we're going to do more in a few days, how are you doing, you seem different, sad". Penelope said, "I'm fine handsome, just fine" as she watched him climb into bed, he then reached over with his good hand and intertwined their fingers and said, "I love you".
Penelope said, "and I love you", Derek said, "come on princess, I know that something is wrong, please tell me what's going on", she sighed and said, "I'm just ready to get out of here and head to casa Morgan for some one on one time with you". Derek said, "we have plenty of one on one time now sweetness", she said, "true buttttttt at home we won't have to worry about doctors and nurses coming in and catching us all of the time".
He grinned and said, "ahhhhhh, so does this mean that when we get home that you and I are going to be having some cuddle time"?, she smiled and said, "count it as done handsome", he winked at her and said, "good deal gorgeous, good deal". They were pulled out of their conversation when Fran walked into the room and said, "I hope the two of you are hungry because I just couldn't resist brining you this".
She put their plates down in front of them and uncovered them and Penelope said, "ohhhhh, is this, is this your famous chicken alfredo"?, she nodded her head and said, "it sure is, so eat and enjoy", they looked at each other and smiled and then started devouring the delicious food that Fran had prepared for them.
For the next few minutes they ate, laughed and talked as they caught Fran up on how quickly they were both healing.
