Best Laid Plans-Ch 24
The next day Savannah was having breakfast with Kevin in her apartment when he said, "I can see those wheels turning in that big beautiful brain of yours". She grinned and said, "well Derek said that he didn't want anything to do with me and the baby until it was determined that he was indeed the father".
Kevin said, "soooooo, what are you going to do"?, Savannah said, "now it's time to see just how much this baby means to him", Kevin said, "what are you going to do"?, she said, "ohhhhh, this, lover is what I'm going to do" and he leaned in and listened as she filled him in on her plan and when she was through he laughed and said, "I love that brain of yours Vannah".
She said, "I want to prove to him that he doesn't dictate the terms of anything, he will see after today that I am the one in charge and if he wants to be able to see this child, his child, then he will have to play by my rules", Kevin smiled and put his hand on her stomach and said, "soooooooo what do you want to do now"?, she stood up and said, "now Kev, now it's time to put my plan into action" as he watched her walk out the front door, more determined than he'd ever seen her.
Derek looked at Penelope and said, "I'm going to call Hotch about the security guard situation", Fran looked at Penelope and said, "what situation"?, Penelope said, "they've been gone for over an hour, one minute they were there and the next they were gone". Fran said, "no idea what's going on"?, Penelope shook her head and said, "not at all" as their attention turned to Derek who was now talking to Hotch.
Hotch said, "don't worry, we'll have another detail sent to the hospital in no time", Derek said, "it's just weird man, I mean they were here when I went for my therapy and then the one that was guarding me was gone". Hotch said, "what about the one guarding Garcia"?, Derek said, "he's gone too, something just doesn't seem right to me".
Hotch said, "everything is going to be alright, your other detail should be there in a few minutes", Derek said, "thanks, it's not so much that I worry about me, it's I want to make sure that baby girl is protected". Fran smiled and leaned in and whispered, "I've never seen my baby boy so in love before, you bring out the best in him".
Penelope said, "he brings out the best in me too Fran, I don't want to imagine my life without him in it", Fran gently squeezed Penelopes hand and said, "you're not going to have to worry about that because he's not going anywhere" and Penelope grinned and said, "good, because I would be lost without him".
A few minutes later another detail showed up at their door and one stepped inside and said, "your door won't be left unmanned sir", Derek said, "thank you". The agent nodded his head and then stepped back outside the door to take his post beside the other guard and for a few minutes Derek, Fran and Penelope fell into a conversation about when they would get released from the hospital.
Their attention turned to the door when they heard Sarah and Desi talking, Derek said, "it's okay, they're my sisters, it's okay to let them in". The guards stepped aside and Sarah said, "Derek, on our way in we saw them bringing Savannah in on a gurney", Derek said, "you what, well was she alright"?, Desi said, "we have no idea but she looked like she was in a lot of pain".
Penelope said, "maybe you should go down and check on the baby"?, Derek said, "I really don't want to leave you", Fran said, "go baby, it's okay, we'll stay here with Penelope". Derek said, "I'll be back as soon as I can", she nodded her head and said, "no problem handsome, go, go check on the baby".
Sarah helped him back into the wheelchair and said, "I'll go with him momma", Fran nodded her head and said, "okay honey" and before she disappeared out into the hall she said, "whenever I find out what's going on I'll let you know", Fran nodded her head in agreement and said, "yes please" as she watched two of her three kids head up the hall toward the elevators with one of the security guards right on their heels.
Downstairs in the ER, Savannah smiled and rubbed her stomach and said, "trust me little one, I had to do this, I had to do this to make your daddy see that we need to be together". She heard the nurse coming and laid her head back and sighed and winched in pain as the doctor pushed the curtain open and stepped inside.
Savannah said, "please don't let me lose my baby", the doctor said, "calm down Savannah, we're going to hook the baby up to a fetal monitor and see what's going on". Savannah nodded her head and said, "yes, yes, please don't let me lose this baby" as she watched the doctor and nurses run around the room trying to make sure that the baby was going to be alright.
A few minutes later one of the nurses stepped into the room and said, "Ms. Hayes, their is a man out in the hall that says he is the babies father and would like to come in". Savannah nodded her head and said, "yes, yes, please let him in, please let Derek in" and the curtain pushed open and Sarah pushed her brother inside.
Derek looked up at Savannah and said, "what happened, you were fine earlier", Sarah said, "earlier, when did you see her"?, Derek said, " not important right now Sarah" as all of Dereks attention went to Savannah and the ultrasound machine that was being hooked up to check on the condition of the baby.
Derek breathed a sigh of relief when the sound of "swoosh, swoosh" filled the room and the doctor said, "everything is fine, your babies heart beat is strong". Savannah looked at Derek and said, "did you hear that, our baby, he's fine, he's fine"?, Derek said, "I'm glad" as he put his hand on her stomach and gently rubbed where seconds later he was rewarded with a soft kick from the baby.
As Sarah watched her brother she couldn't wait to find out what Derek meant by you were fine earlier but right now that could wait, right now what was important was the condition of the baby that was growing inside of Savannah, Derek started to move his hand away and Savannah intertwined their fingers and said, "I was so afraid Derek, I was so afraid that I was going to lose our son".
Derek said, "calm down, it's okay, he's okay, just calm down" and she started calming down and her heart monitor started slowing down. The doctor said, "I'll keep you overnight for observation and then if you're doing okay in the morning I'll release you", Savannah nodded her head and said, "thank you doctor, thank you".
She looked at Derek and said, "will you, will you please stay with me"?, Derek said, "Savannah I" and she said, "please Derek, please"?, he sighed and said, "sure, sure I'll stay, I'll stay". Sarah looked at the smile on Savannahs face and had a strong feeling that her brother had just been played.
