Best Laid Plans-Ch 38
Derek and Penelope sat in disbelief as Reid and the rest of their family filled them in on everything that they knew about the entire situation between Savannah and Kevin. Derek blew out a deep breath and then ran his hand over his head as he readied to speak.
Everybody listened as he said, "are you serious, they are working together to split us up"?, Reid nodded his head and said, "they are and sadly that's not all of it". Penelope said, "y y you mean their is more"?, JJ said, "their is and Derek you're not going to like it, neither of you are going to like it at all".
Penelope said, "what aren't you telling us"?, Reid sat down across from the couple and looked at Derek and said, "Derek it's about the baby", Derek looked at him and said, "the baby, what about it"?, Reid said, "the baby isn't yours, your sisters were right, she's been lying to you this entire time".
Derek intertwined fingers with Penelope and said, "I didn't believe that the baby was mine from the start but if the baby isn't mine who does it belong too"?, Penelope looked up and that's when it hit her, she said, "don't tell me that the father is Kevin"?, Reid handed him a piece of paper and said, "you're right Penelope, the baby belongs to Kevin".
As he looked down at the piece of paper in his hand it stated beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was indeed a month farther along than she had stated and that the father was Kevin Lynch. He sighed and said, "so what happens now"?, Hotch said, "we believe that Kevin and Savannah also had something to do with the hit and run".
Penelope said, "but I thought that the person that hit us was never found", Reid said, "we can't prove it, not yet but we believe that their accomplice was killed by one or both of them to keep him from talking". Derek said, "after what you've told us here I wouldn't put anything past them, either of them".
Derek looked up as Penelope said, "boy wonder how did you find out all of this information about the baby"?, Reid said, "I started putting two and two together after what I heard so I called in a few favors and got Savannahs file looked over again and it didn't take long to prove that I was right".
The family listened as he filled them in on how Savannah had done an amnio and the results proved that Kevin was definitely the father. He then looked at Derek and said, "we believe that she was going to try to pass the baby off as yours after the birth by having Tonya change the results of her old test to say that you were indeed the father".
Derek shook his head and said, "how did she get Tonya to agree to do this"?, JJ said, "she was blackmailing her, she found out that Tonya had done some things that she shouldn't have and she was holding it over her head, Derek said, "what did she know about Tonya, what information was she holding over her head"?, Emily said, "she knew that Tonya had helped out other patients by changing their results when needed so she used that to her advantage".
Penelope said, "but Tonya seemed like such a good person", Dave said, "that she did kitten but that just goes to prove that you can't trust everybody". Penelope gently squeezed Dereks hand and nodded her head yes in agreement as the room once again became extremely quiet.
After a few minutes Hotch said, "the only question is what do you want to do about everything now"?, Derek thought for a minute and then looked at Penelope and then back to his family before a huge grin covered his lips. Reid said, "ohhhh I know that look", Penelope said, "yeah me too", Derek said, "alright then guys, this is what we're going to do".
Everybody leaned in and smiled as Derek filled them in on his plan
