Best Laid Plans-Ch 50
A few minutes later after thanking the minister and signing their marriage certificate Derek, Penelope and the others headed over to the area Fran and the girls had set aside for the family reception dinner. The tables were pushed together so that everybody could sit together and enjoy their meal together.
At the head of the table was Derek and Penelope and surrounding them was their bridal party followed by Henry and Jack and of course the mother, sisters and step-father of the groom. While they were eating Reid laughed and said, "well I want to give my gift to the happy couple first".
Derek said, "gift, what are you talking about pretty boy"?, Reid laughed and said, "alright when I went on my errand today I made arrangements to see Kevin and Savannah". Penelope said, "you did, but why boy wonder"?, Reid laughed and said, "well I wanted them to know that nothing they did stopped you and Derek getting together".
Dave smiled and said, "and he recorded it for us, right Reid"?, Reid nodded his head and said, "right and now is the perfect time to send the copy of the recording to your phones". After he hit a few keys he sat back and continued eating while he watched the smiles on everybodys faces as they watched the footage he had taped earlier.
When they were done watching the footage Penelope laughed and said, "that was the best gift I've gotten in a long time boy wonder, thank you so much". Derek intertwined fingers with his bride and said, "the best gift sweetness"?, she leaned in and brushed her lips against his and said, "welllllll you were the best gift my love but this definitely comes in second" causing everybody to laugh as they then continued their dinner.
As the team sat there laughing and talking Derek stood up and held out his hand and said, "would you do me the honor of a dance Mrs. Morgan"?, she slid her hand in his and stood up and said, "it would be a pleasure Mr. Morgan".
Everybody then watched as he led her over to the dance area, Fran pulled up the music for the night and grinned as she pushed play. Derek wrapped his arms around his new bride as the words to "when a man loves a woman" filled the air.
Derek kissed the top of her head and said, "I love you so much and I can't believe that you're finally mine, that you'll be mine forever", she giggled and then looked up at him. She said, "ohhhh you are stuck with me my vision, from now on you are stuck with this oracle".
Derek leaned in and kissed her gently and said, "and I look forward to each and every second baby girl" and the sound of "awwwwww" filled the air as the rest of the couples joined the dance floor. A little time later came time to cut the cake and the family couldn't help but laugh as they smashed it all over each others faces and then kissed off the excess icing.
Penelope caressed his cheek and said, "I love you handsome, with ever fiber of my being I love you", he smiled lovingly at her and said, "and I love you like midnight loves the moon baby girl". He rested his forehead against hers and said, "you are my forever", Penelope looked up at him and said, "as you are mine hotstuff, as you are mine" before kissing his lips passionately.
As the celebration continued Derek danced with his mom, sisters, JJ and Emily before returning back to his bride and Penelope danced with Dave, Reid, Hotch, Jack and Henry before returning to the love of her life to share one final dance before deciding it was time for them to head out.
Derek and Penelope ran toward their waiting car hand in hand as they were followed by their family who was tossing birdseed at them. They climbed into the car and waved at everybody as they pulled away from the curb.
The family stood waving and smiling until the car disappeared out of sight, Fran sighed happily as Dave wrapped his arms around her and said, "they both looked so happy didn't they Bella"?, she turned and looked at him and said, "they did and it's about time".
Dave intertwined fingers with his wife and said, "that it is my love, that it is" as they turned to go join the rest of their family.
