A/N: I haven't written a fic in probably eight months now. This is my first fic in the Daiya fandom, and I didn't think it would be. I'm currently working on something for Miyuki Appreciation Week, but I thought of this idea today and put it together in 15 minutes, and read through twice to make quick edits, so it probably has some issues.

It's not really mentioned in the fic, and I couldn't figure out how to put it in, but this is during a party to celebrate winning Summer Koshien, or something like that, after the current third years retire.

I hope you enjoy, even though it's super short!

Disclaimer: I don't own Daiya no Ace, just a big fan.

"You, too, huh?"

Haruichi, too absorbed with staring at Kuramochi, startles as Miyuki comes up beside him. "I don't know what you're talking about, Miyuki-senpai." His too fast response might as well be a confession.

Miyuki gives him a bitter smirk, eyes knowing.

It's a little weird to be talking to Miyuki like this. They have talked before, of course, Miyuki was their captain, but usually it's just compliments on batting during games and other baseball related topics. Their interactions have been minimal. It's even stranger to be talking about something that makes Miyuki vulnerable, since Miyuki is the type to hide his true emotions behind sarcastic smirks and snarky comments.

Haruichi turns his attention back to where Kuramochi and Eijun are talking almost shyly, a contrast to their usual loud, boisterous behavior, especially when together. Out of the corner of his eye, Haruichi sees Miyuki observing them as well, the longing in his eyes as he stares at Eijun easily recognizable to him. Haruichi knows he looks the same way at Kuramochi, sees it barely hidden in his own expression whenever he gazes into a mirror.

"Do you think they'll get together anytime soon?" Haruichi asks.

Kuramochi and Eijun have been dancing around each other for months now, both of them a bit hesitant towards the other. It's obvious in the way Kuramochi tangles Eijun in another wrestling move, but pulls away just as quickly with a slight blush on his face, in the way he seems to always be aware of where Eijun is, in the fond smiles he tries to hide with cackles and teasing remarks. It's in the way Eijun blushes whenever Kuramochi touches him, in the way he disappears at lunch breaks to seek Kuramochi out in his classroom after the third year's retirement, in his smiles that are just that much brighter for Kuramochi.

Their love and devotion to baseball means that neither have done anything about the unspoken thing between them, but Kuramochi is retired now, and the third years will graduate in a few months. If they're going to start dating, if anything is going to happen, it will be soon.

"Maybe," Miyuki murmurs, uncharacteristically subdued, "Kuramochi mentioned something about it to me in passing."

"Will you ever tell Eijun-kun?" Haruichi wonders.

"I think you already know the answer to that," Miyuki replies, and Haruichi nods a bit in agreement.

Eijun is his best friend, and even though Miyuki would probably never admit it, Kuramochi is his best friend, too. They would never want to hurt them.

All they can do is watch silently from afar, and hope for their best friends to be happy together.

A/N: tbh i'm not the biggest fan of kurasawa. i don't hate it, but i usually prefer them to have a brotherly relationship, especially with long-suffering kuramochi as older brother figure to eijun and best friend to miyuki caught in the middle of oblivious, pining miyusawa, but kurasawa worked best for what i was going for in this fic. Lmk what you think!
