a/n: So I love the idea of someone getting trapped in Doc´s universe. Who doesn´t love that? But I also love the idea of Doc being a dad type of figure. I have a Phoenix tattoo on my right forearm, and I always wanted to write a story that had something to do with a Phoenix. Anyway, I just do this stuff for fun.
I do not own Doctor Who. obviously. Why do we even have to put this?
doctor whoooooooooooooo
All Ellis remembered from her old world, was her mother. She and her mom were on the way to the mall to do some Christmas shopping. She remembered stopping at the red light, and telling her mom that she wanted the new phone that just came out. Her mom laughed, because she knew that that wasn't going to happen. The light turned green...headlights coming toward the passenger side...Ellis´ side.
She remembered her mom screaming and lunging towards her, probably to try and cover her...intense pain...shouting, the voice of her mother screaming for Ellis, the sharp smell of copper hitting her nose...then, absolutely nothing.
Seriously, nothing. After she faded into black, Ellis felt absolutely nothing. She just...was. She couldn't feel her body, couldn't smell anything, feel anything. She knew she existed, but had no thought processes. Just suspended in a frozen time period of absolute nothingness. She would've been terrified if she was able to feel fear.
Then, one day, or moment, an intense heat began building up all around her. It felt cold at first, and the feeling of...feeling was startling to her, as was the feeling of being startled. She could feel again! It was an amazing feeling until suddenly, it wasn't. The cold feeling slowly began turning into heat. It was like putting your hand on something intensely hot. It doesn't hurt at first until your body is able to register the pain, and then it hits you at one time.
You snatch your hand back and the pain eventually fades away. Ellis wasn't able to snatch her hand back though; or anything back for that matter. The heat around her grew and grew, and pain built up with it, until the girl felt nothing but pain. It was a cruel joke that she felt nothing before, and now that she was able to feel again, felt this. She wished with everything inside of her to go back to that feeling of nothingness again.
She wasn't even able to scream.
The burning seemed to go on forever, until it just...stopped. She didn't realized it had stopped though. Her body continued to pulse with pain, the residual pain of being burnt. After what seemed to be a very long time, Ellis finally became aware of the fact that she could feel something other than pain. She still hurt, but it was more an uncomfortable feeling that just raw pain.
She felt small pebbles digging into her side, and a rock was digging into her cheek. She was on the ground, turned on her side. For a while, the 13 year old just laid on the ground. She saw nothing but blackness until she realized that her eyes were shut.
She slowly began opening them, but the light of wherever she was, burned them, so she slammed them shut again. She waited for the pain to go away, then slowly squinted her eyes open little by little until she was able to open them fully. Her eye sight was fuzzy for a second, and she looked around blearily while everything came into focus. She seemed to be in an alleyway of sorts. She was leaning against a brick wall, and there was another wall across from her. There were trash cans at the end of the alley. It was bright outside.
She groaned and ever so slowly sat up. As she did so, her right arm scraped against the ground a bit, and a sharp pain slammed into her, making her hiss and flinch. ¨What the hell...¨ the teenager whispered, her voice extremely hoarse from not being used.
A large scar was etched into her right forearm. It was in the shape of...something. Ellis wasn't quite sure. The scar was raw and raised away from the skin; it was red around the edges and had heat escaping from it still, like a very recent burn. It pulsed steadily with pain, and Ellis grit her teeth and shoved her arm against the sides of her body, hoping the pressure would take away some of the pain. Putting one hand against the brick wall, keeping the other tightly against her, she slowly began to stand. Halfway up, her legs grew weak and she was sent back down, knees slamming into gravel.
She groaned again, placing both hands on the ground. It was then that she noticed a powder like substance on the ground. It surrounded her body, or was at one time, surrounding her body. It was outlined in the sideways shape her body was in when she first woke up. She had broken the outline when she stood up, but she could still tell what it was.
Her hands had landed in the substance when she put them on the ground, and she brought them up to her face to inspect them. She smelled the faint scent of a bonfire burning, saw the grey powdery substance, and was beyond puzzled when she realized it looked and smelled like...
¨...ashes?¨ Ellis breathed out. ¨What the hell is going on?¨ she whispered, her voice broke and she let out a whimper. She stood all the way up this time, legs still weak, but held on to the wall behind her for support. She tried taking a step forward, but her legs apparently decided that walking wasn't going to happen any time soon. Every time she took a step they tried to buckle. She groaned in frustration, tears beginning to form in her eyes.
¨Ellis?¨ she suddenly heard a deep voice say her name, and beyond startled, the girls head shot up, loose blond curls falling into her eyes. ¨What..¨ the American girl gasped out again, at the sight of none other than the 9th Doctor running towards her. He had his famous buzz cut and leather jacket, and of course, giant ears.
She stumbled back, her legs buckling as she did so. She made a noise of protest and prepared herself to hit the ground, but was caught by strong arms. One hand was placed on her back, and another on the back of her head, cradling her.
¨El...Ellis!¨ she heard the voice say, and blinked in shock to see the face of Christopher Eccleston in front of her own. His blue eyes were wide and concerned and he was looking over her body frantically. ¨Christopher?¨ she breathed out.
Who? a voice said, inside her mind. Someone was inside of her brain, speaking with her. She had no time to feel alarmed though, because just then, Ellis felt a tremendous amount of heat inside of her head, then the pain hit, just like before. It felt like her brain was on fire. She cried out and slammed her eyes shut, reaching her hands towards her head. She got the urge to slam her head against the brick wall just so the pain would stop. ¨Help...¨ she whimpered out, tears falling from her eyes; they soothed her now burning face.
¨Alright..its alright El...¨ she heard the Doctor murmur to her in a soothing voice, his words quiet like background noise. He placed one hand on her left temple, and a word entered her mind.
Sleep.
The voice caused a new wave of pain to wash over her, her body seizing up almost, but she didn't feel the effects long. Her body began shutting down, and the world, along with the pain, mercifully melted away into nothing.
