Concept of Soulmates

LAST EDIT: October 24, 2020 - Fixed some minor flaws (small things I forgot to add on...), there's an added scene for this set of drabbles

Despair

She couldn't die! Not without knowing the truth. She's made it this far, she has just a few more steps to go before getting some answers, damn it! Just when it seemed her strength was completely leaving her, the ground she lay on began to glow. Suddenly, from the light, a man with short blond hair came forth. He wore silver armor and regal blue clothing. His green eyes looked upon her with gentleness. She felt her heart skip a beat.

Innocence

He was shocked when he felt the pull of a summon. He'd thought his time had been long over. It seemed the world was not finished with him, however. He gazed upon the one who summoned him. She looked rather pretty in her school uniform. Her chestnut brown hair looked to be long and wavy. Those chocolate brown eyes were wide and screamed innocence. In a split second, he decided he would preserve that innocence. He would not fail this time.

Past

The first time Leo introduced them to Gawain, Hakuno felt Saber tense up. She grew worried but decided not to ask out in the open. Anyone could overhear their conversations. In the safety of their Private Room, Saber explained that he and Gawain had known each other before. Hakuno wondered at that, trying to figure out which of the knights and warriors of the Arthurian Legend she had summoned.

Dreams

Hakuno dreamt. Sometimes, she saw vague memories. Saber would smile and say, "It's a good sign, Master." Other times, she dreamt of waiting for what felt like an eternity. There were also dreams of the real world, with people she didn't know of. Saber believed it to be a reflection of her heart's true wish, whatever that may be. There were times, though, when she dreamt of him. She only told him once, and then he immediately changed the topic of their conversation. She didn't bring it up again but she liked those dreams the best. Saber, on the other hand, hopes his Master will never have to see what he'd done in a previous war.

Ally

Saber encouraged her to gather as much information as possible, but the moment she makes possible friends and allies, he frets. "You'll have to fight each other to the death, Master. Or perhaps Rin and Rani will die before facing you. I don't want you to suffer through that..." She knew it was a legitimate and logical reason, but she allowed the alliances to happen. That was the first time her dreams involved Saber being contracted to another mage. One who made him do things he regretted, even before acting on the mage's orders...

Trust

Shinji claimed to be her friend, yet he allowed his Rider to insult and harm her. The Golden Hind made the battle difficult, but they managed to win. Saber said he understood what it meant to be betrayed by someone you trusted. She thought his situation was a little different, if the look he got was anything to go by. Perhaps she can help him move past what happened during the previous war he'd been summoned into. Maybe, if he felt like he was confessing whatever his supposed sins were to someone, he'd feel better. So they spent the remainder of that day at the chapel, just sitting side by side on one of the benches, as Saber quietly began to talk about what had transpired. Hakuno made sure they repeated this everyday, before entering the arena.

Noble

Dan was a knight and she wondered how many values Saber shared with him. They were both chivalrous and just, she'd thought. Until Dan allowed his Servant to attack them from the shadows. Then, he used a Command Seal to stop it? She'd been utterly confused! At least that pesky Archer hadn't tried to poison them before the fight, anymore. In the end, she thought the Archer died in a noble way, fighting them head-on. Saber admitted he agreed with her.

Sisters

She still can't remember her past. She has no idea what her family was like but from her understanding of the term, Alice and her possible twin have become sisters to her. Now, if only she and Saber can figure out what two people having one Servant means. Meanwhile, they both spend time with the little girls, playing games with them outside the Arena. Rin helped them figure out the puzzle: Hookah is a Caster and that Berserker was a hoax. Saber drew the line on the games when they tried to erase Hakuno from existence. He would die first before letting anything even remotely bad happen to her! Though, he understood his Master's tears at the end.

Clarity

Hakuno knew this would happen. Saber reminded her frequently enough and she knew it was inevitable, but seeing Rin and Rani at each other's throats was just not how she pictured this little excursion would go. "Master. If you truly wish to, I could save one of them. But you must use two Command Seals for me to succeed." As much as it pained her to choose, well... Rin has been there since the very beginning. It wasn't much of a choice, really.

Tears

Rin became a dear friend, to Saber's relief. Now, there was someone who could watch Hakuno's back while he gathered information about their possible opponents. Rin cried in the clinic. "I met someone a lifetime ago. I thought I'd meet her again, and I have. But she didn't even recognize me...!" Hakuno wasn't sure what to say, but she did offer a hug. Rin cried a bit more in her arms before pulling away. "She asked me to live and be happy... How am I supposed to be happy, knowing she can't even remember me?" She'd wondered if Rin had meant her, but... "Why did the Grail give her to someone else? Why did it make her forget me...?"

Conflict

Noble Phantasms, as Saber had told her, revealed a Servant's True Name. She stared, shocked and awed, as Saber called forth Excalibur. The blue sword outlined with gold easily took the Berseker out with a bright beam of light. In their Private room, she had asked him what she thought to be a very important question. "Gawain is your nephew. Can't we... not fight him if it comes down to it?" Saber gave her a look of gratitude before sighing and turning serious. "I would fight even my father and my queen for your sake, Hakuno." She hated to think it, but she knew he would.

Meal

Rin couldn't help but blink owlishly as she entered Hakuno's private room. A small area, near the window, had been converted into a sleeping space. Currently, there were three or four tables in the center with several dishes of food resting upon them. "Saber isn't sure if the cafeteria food is healthy. So he likes to make me meals himself..." Hakuno told her quietly. There was a faint blush on her cheeks, for sure. Rin hummed, grinning to herself. She's sure pancakes and shortcakes weren't healthy either, but who was she to contradict a knight?

Payback

Rin stared at the screen before her. Luckily, that cold hearted Harway assassin was no longer lurking about. The Multimedia Room still made her slightly tense, but she wanted to watch this particular fight. It's cruel, yet she hoped Rani dies. The man who had summoned her Nero lost against Rani. She had no idea how, Nero was far stronger than that foxy Caster! She had summoned Lancer, the same one who'd tried to kill Shirou twice and failed. She didn't try to have a good relationship with him, yet he had definitely been winning against that little runt! How could her strong, beautiful Nero have lost? Possibly due to her summoner. Regardless, she's certain Hakuno will win this round.

Reality

Gawain froze upon seeing his enemy. A shaky "My Lord...?" left his lips. Leo frowned. What was Gawain doing calling someone else his Lord? Was Leo not enough for him? "You and I must fight now, Gawain. I shan't allow any harm to come to my Master." Hmm. Hakuno Kishinami looked so torn where she stood. Perhaps there's something going on with their Servants?

Satisfaction

He realized, upon seeing Excalibur, exactly what that something was. Gawain lost, which was not surprising once the enemy was known. King Arthur. They had stood a small chance of winning against him, and it seemed that chance was not to be. He let Gawain and his uncle have their moment before stealing his Servant back. Normally, these things were done beforehand, by the courter not the courted, but they were about to die, so... He tilted his head a bit and gave Gawain a chaste kiss on the lips. He was pleased to see a look of approval on the King's face before he knew nothing.

Kiss

Saber stood his ground. He had not allowed his Master to be alone for any length of time in order to keep her safe, this time was no different. Rin agreed wholeheartedly. She also implied that he should hurry up and kiss his Master, which was just not done, honestly! But then, both Saber and Hakuno started flickering out. He didn't know what in the world possessed him to do it but somehow, he found himself holding her as their lips met. She was kissing him back. Heavens, it felt wonderful! All too quickly, it ended and the world was out of reach once more.

Memories

Hakuno was sure she should be dead. Yet Rin was standing above her, hands wiping tears away. "Arthur...?" Rin looked at her sadly, shaking her head. "You two were like me and Nero. You'll meet again someday. Although, I have to say, Arthur is more fit to being a noble compared to his son." Hakuno didn't think she could cry anymore, but she did. She already missed him. She held onto Rin's words that they would meet again, one day.

She can wait for as long as Arthur waited for her. Longer, if she had to. For now, though...

"You knew his son?"

"A long story. He was a right brat, but also a good knight and he was very protective of his Master..."
