Concept of Soulmates

LAST EDIT: October 26, 2020

Asuka woke up to an unknown room. It was large, maybe double or triple the size of the entirely small apartment she'd been renting for the past five years. The bed was queen sized and very soft. A fluffy pillow was under her head and a warm woolen blanket was draped over her.

She immediately got up, reaching for one of the small knives she kept in the hidden pockets of her clothes. The moment she got close to the door on the other side, it opened and she had simply reacted. She had the man in a vice grip with a knife pointed at his neck. Then, her eyes widened upon realizing who she was holding in her arms.

"I am honestly very much relieved that this is still how you react to possible threats, Su-chan~"

"Merlin...?"

She saw tear drops falling onto his face, but her mind couldn't quite wrap around the fact that Merlin was in her arms. The man was smiling in such a soft manner. His hands were on her face, slender fingers wiping the tears off of her cheeks.

"It's alright, now, Su-chan. It took a while, but your wish has come true." He told her before reaching up to place a gentle kiss on her forehead.

Ritsuka reached out to touch Ramses' face. He didn't know how this was even remotely possible. Maybe he was hallucinating. Yeah. That could explain the mansion they were in. Maybe Shirou can help him later, or Asuka. No, wait. Asuka had her own issues to deal with, what with that garden she insists on keeping even though it only made her cry a lot...

Ramses only met his Ritsu's gaze, leaning ever so slightly into his mage's hand. He was smiling like a content cat. Really. The man was warm to the touch. Could hallucinations be warm at all? Ritsuka wasn't sure. Maybe he should sign up for a therapist session, or something.

The pharaoh was content just sitting on the wide window sill, letting Ritsu's hands roam over his face and torso. He would let the fact that he was real sink in before trying to do anything else. His Ritsu deserved that, surely. He can shower his mage with as much affection as he wanted to later. He had plans for it, too.

Mordred was shocked. So much so, that he simply stared with wide eyes for a shockingly long moment. Until, suddenly, he was pulled into a very tight, very tear-filled embrace. He didn't mind, though. He had been waiting for countless decades to be held by Shirou, again.

Shirou.

His one and only Master.

He hugged back, just as tightly. Shirou has been reunited with him and he didn't really care how or why. He was so darned happy at the moment, and then, Shirou's very warm, very firm lips were on his own. He didn't think he could be any happier than he was right then. Probably.

Rin wasn't sure of the how and the why. She frankly didn't care, because Nero was here. Nero was here and Nero remembered. She remembered them having a snowball fight with Shirou and Mordred. She remembered them going to the park for summer. She remembered her. That was enough for Rin to ignore Shirou and Mordred making out close by.

The important thing was that she and Nero were hugging each other and her Emperor kept apologizing for what happened on the Moon. "Stop apologizing...! I know you weren't at fault for that." She kept reassuring her until Nero calmed down. Then, they shared a kiss. It was sweet and meant to be short, but Nero wouldn't be Nero if she didn't take it a step further.

So it came to be that Shirou's teary laugh was promptly ignored, as well as Mordred's attempt at getting their attention.

Gilgamesh stared long and hard at the rather wide river before him. He had no idea, really, where he was or who had summoned him. Until he felt a pull, that is. "Huh. Who'd have thought that the mongrel pharaoh would be right." He mused as he stretched his arms out in front of him. Just in time, too, as Ayaka fell straight into his hold, bridal style.

She blinked twice, slow and deliberate, before looking up to meet his gaze. Unbidden the tears fell from her eyes and she was quick to throw her arms around his shoulders, holding on tightly, afraid he would vanish again. Gilgamesh only held her closer to his chest.

"Seems that mongrel had been correct about that vision of his." He told her with an amused (and maybe relieved) expression. Ayaka reached to touch his face, her hands seemingly mapping out his features and further engraving them to her memory. In response, Gilgamesh smirked with a raised brow.

Sakura wanted to laugh at Gilgamesh's expression (he looked like a beaming kid, honestly). However, she was stuck feeling thoroughly relieved and being thoroughly kissed by Mozart. The man had laughed and spun her around after finding her sitting on the ground, just a few steps away from Gilgamesh and Ayaka. He had spent a few moments letting her get accustomed to his presence once more before he had started kissing her.

"I am never leaving you again, my song." He had declared, resulting in Sakura's silent crying. She felt so incredibly happy now that they were together again. Until she saw Gilgamesh tense and glare at the river behind them. That made her worried and anxious.

Arthur couldn't help but sigh. He could scarce believe it, but Archer was definitely standing by the riverbank. His Master, Manaka's sister, was in his arms. Arthur wasn't sure who the other mage and Servant were, he had never met them before. His sigh was answered by a slight tugging on his cloak.

Upon looking down, he realized that Hakuno was sitting on his lap. He would have thought she was an illusion, if it weren't for the fact that her hand on his face felt very real. Plus, she was trembling, possibly due to the cool water. Her teeth chattered with every shiver that traveled through her body. She had looked at him with a mixture of pure relief and confusion. Arthur immediately moved to get them out of the deep river upon realizing she was freezing cold.

"My apologies, Master! I'd give you my cloak, but it's wet and that would be coun-"

She silenced him with a kiss. Her mouth was warm. Illusions couldn't have true warmth to them, unless all senses were being fooled. As a certain mage once told him, such a situation was nigh impossible outside of dreams. Arthur would readily admit to the world that he didn't mind her kissing him, not at all. He'd like to keep kissing her and perhaps show her some other things, if she were willing.

Gilgamesh raised a brow, laughing out loud at the sight of the Knight and his apparent Master, who definitely wasn't Ayaka's sister. They were both dripping wet, an understandable consequence to sitting in the waist deep area of the river. Sakura merely tilted her head as Mozart lead her to Gilgamesh and Ayaka.

"Haku-nee! You're here!"

The high pitched voice caught their ears. Alice and Hookah ran out from the forest, heading straight to Hakuno. Leo and Gawain followed along at a sedate pace. "You might catch a cold like that, Hakuno." Leo spoke with a light sigh. He took off the cloak Gawain had placed on his shoulders and handed it to Hakuno.

Arthur caught Leo's gaze, nodded his thanks and pulled Hakuno into a hug. They could distinctly hear Shinji shouting at Francis and another Servant - Medusa, if they were hearing correctly. Hakuno blinked when her eyes landed upon the four strangers with them. She recognized them from Arthur's memories, the ones she had dreamt of, regarding another war.

"Hakuno?!"

She heard Rin call her name. Her friend ran towards her, along with a lady in red. She thinks it might be Nero, most probably. She wanted to ask what was happening but Rin just went straight to hugging her.

"I saw Rani and that damned fox eared Caster of hers! I wanted to make them pay for taking Nero away back on the Moon Cell, but, well... Shirou's good at convincing people to be less violent. Plus, he has Mordred on his side, again... So.."

Arthur perked up upon hearing his son's name. "Mordred is here?" He asked, looking at Rin like she had given him an early Christmas gift.

"Oi! King of Knights! We shall have a true and proper fight later!" Gilgamesh suddenly declared as he walked off with his Master still in his arms. Sakura and Mozart looked their way for a moment before following after the golden Archer.

Arthur blinked at the man's words, though his attention swiftly returned to Rin as she spoke. "He's probably gonna be here in a few seconds. Yeah. Most likely." As she finished speaking, Mordred and Shirou entered the clearing. The Avenger stopped dead in his tracks upon seeing his father. Arthur just gave him a soft smile while Gawain shook his head with a quiet laugh.

This was turning out to be some reunion.

AN: This Epilogue is turning into a rather long piece, so I've divided it into parts. There will be two, perhaps three, parts all together.

P.S. I've an idea for a story. Would anynone actually read this, though? Here are the main points: In another world, their fates differed. This is an AU where Fem!Hakuno is somehow the most valued person in a group of mages and Servants. They work together to bring down a corrupt organization. Pairings will inculde Caster Gilgamesh x Fem!Hakuno (and maybe a bit of Enkidu, too) and Merlin x Arthur
