Enough.
J. K. Rowling owns absolutely everything, I am just writing the story.
This is my first story so any tips would be appreciated.
Chapter 1
As Severus Snape sat in his leather armchair nursing a glass of firewhiskey he had a nagging feeling that something was wrong, call it a spy's intuition but he just knew, and it would not stop eating away at him. He had just returned from a Death Eater meeting and his body was sore and tired from his master's "games". He pushed the thoughts of the night away as he gathered himself to ready for bed as he had already reported the nights events to Dumbledore when he had returned and got nothing more than a few soft-spoken words of pure rubbish in his opinion. Whatever was wrong was not his problem and he already had too much on his plate as it was. He was worried he would not be able to keep his façade up much longer. The Dark Lord was growing ever more wary as each plot and plan came to nothing due to Severus passing on all the planed attacks onto the order. He knew he had to keep going but Voldemort was growing fonder of torture to try and sniff out the mole among his ranks. Of course, he did not really suspect Severus but that did not spare him the cruciatus curse at all. He could not give up he had made a promise and given his word, the-boy-who-lived-to-be-a-pain-in-the-ass was depending on him and he did not even know it or why for that matter. Severus thought he would be dead by the end of the war, so it did not really matter to him anyway. Still he had well and truly had enough.
Snape was in an extra foul mood this morning due to last nights escapades and the students were not even daring to mess with him today, not that they did usually. He had Potters class next and he was crossing his fingers for no incidents, he still could not understand how Longbottom made it into this class.
As the students filled in and took their seats, he took note of one bushy haired, intelligent witch who did not seem quite herself over the last few days. While her know-it-all attitude had died down since her first year she still was very eager to answer any questions he put forward but since coming back from Christmas break she didn't seem quite herself, she never had her hand in the air and her essays were nothing compared to her usual standards. He could not help but be worried, but he would not show it, he could not even intervene when Malfoy called her a "mudblood" without looking suspicious to the Slytherin students. That word left a foul taste in his mouth and the want to throw Draco off the Astronomy tower or hex him into oblivion every time the word left his mouth. Although he knew his godson was not bad at heart, it was his father that led him down such a terrible path. Another person he had failed to help. Draco was closer to becoming a fully-fledged Death Eater and merlin only knows what task will await him to make up for his father's error when attempting to get the Prophecy. His heart ached for Draco and all he had to bear witness to in the Malfoy Manner. Narcissa as kind-hearted as she is could not stand up for herself or her son no matter how much it hurt them.
He put the instructions up on the board and barked orders at the students hoping for a quiet class so he could catch up on all the essays he had to correct, wasn't dealing with Voldemort bad enough without having to deal with these dunderheads too? He slyly in true Slytherin style observed the Granger girl, taking note that she had a foggy look in her eye and did not seem to be paying attention to her bubbling potion at all even though she was doing it perfectly as usual.
Suddenly Snape heard a whistling noise coming from just behind Granger, that cannot be good. Of course, it was Longbottom, were the simplest instructions really that hard to follow?
"Uh sir, should it be making that sound?"
Snape roared "Everyone get down now!"
The explosion sent a deafening ringing though Snapes ears as he got up and looked around trying to assess the damage through the haze of thick smoke. He ran over to Neville's desk and noticed Hermione on the floor completely unconscious. She has a nasty burn on her arm and multiple holes in her robes that he knew would scar if he did not get help quickly.
"EVERYBODY OUT AND DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING!"
"Malfoy run to Pomfrey immediately and tell her to have a bed ready".
Snape picked up Hermione trying to be as gentle as possible and went to the medical wing as quickly as he could barking at children to step out of the way as his robes billowed behind him in true Snape fashion.
"Why did these things have to happen to those who truly do not deserve it?".
