J. K. Rowling owns absolutely everything, I am just writing the story.
Chapter 5
Severus rose early and showered straight away with the hopes of washing away his nightmares that haunted him. He settles in for a day of making potions. He thought spending the day at his hobby would help calm his nerves. Poppy had also told him during one of his visits that her stocks were running low so that's what he was working so hard on.
He went to the infirmary that evening box of potions in hand and gave them to Poppy who went into her storeroom to replenish her stocks. When she returned Snape had already settled in his chair.
"Severus you are so pale, and you have bags under your eyes, I really must say this habit of not sleeping is very bad for you."
"Leave me be woman, my sleeping habits are none of your concern."
Madam Pomfrey rolled her eyes and left but returned an hour later with tea for Snape as he watched over Hermione. What he did not know was that Madam Pomfrey had laced his tea with a sleeping potion, so he slipped into sleep quite easily.
Snape awoke in the early hours of the morning to find Hermione's bed empty. He left up out of his chair in search of Poppy who informed him that she did not see Hermione leave. He felt the panic rise in his throat as he made his way to the Gryffindor Tower. When he reached the Fat Lady's portrait, she said she had not seen the girl at all.
Snape was completely frantic now; he had sent his doe patronus to Dumbledore to inform him of the situation and even recruited the castles ghost to help him he was so worried. Then out of nowhere it suddenly hit him, the one place he had not checked yet: The Astronomy Tower.
He rand and took the stairs two at a time. He swung the door open and there she was, hospital gown blowing in the light breeze and curly hair shining in the moonlight, standing on the edge. Hermione was so startled by the intrusion that she spun around and slipped plunging into the darkness below the tower and screamed.
That scream would most likely haunt Snape for the rest of his days. He ran towards the edge pulled out his wand and shouted,
"WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA."
Hermione flew back up into the tower and into Snapes awaiting arms. She crashed into him and took him down to the ground. Snape pulled her to him in the hopes of shielding her from making hard contact with the floor.
He looked down at the girl in his arms and his eyes went wide. Her bruises were back as well as some marks that could only have been made with a knife. He was speechless. Hermione looked up at him in shame. She attempted to push his arms away and get up, but he held onto her.
"No Ms. Granger, it was me who broke your glamour charm and I need you to tell me immediately who it is that is doing this to you."
He spoke as softly as he could which felt foreign on his tongue and it surprised Hermione. She shook her head at him, and he sighed. He rose and pulled Hermione up with him who was shaking, he had not noticed before. He removed his big cloak and draped it over her shoulders, but she refused to meet his eyes.
"Ms. Granger you must tell me who is doing this to you it is unacceptable"
She again shook her head at him.
Snape sent his patronus to Poppy and Dumbledore informing them that he had found Ms. Granger. He began walking back to the stairs and barked for her to follow him but he was annoyed she would not tell him what was going on, but he couldn't blame her, I mean who would trust him?
He noticed she was not following him, so he turned around and noticed her swaying. He rushed to her side and caught her just as her skinny legs gave up. He cradled her small figure in his large arms trying to provide as much warm for her as he possibly could and made his way to the headmaster's office.
When they arrived, Snape placed her in a chair and Dumbledore attempted to get some information from her about her injuries, but she just stayed silent. Dumbledore healed her injuries and explained how she was going to stay with Snape from now on and would have her work given to her by the teachers for her to work at in her own time.
Throughout Dumbledore's entire speech she stayed silent and did not even bat an eyelid while Snape stayed in the corner observing her. When Dumbledore was finished, he excused Snape and Hermione.
Snape gestured for Hermione to follow him to the fireplace and they flooed to Snapes chambers. Hermione only nodded her head when he showed her, her new chambers and the bathroom. When Snape asked her if she'd like to change the colour of her room, she merely utter the word "lilac" and in a flash the room was the shade of light purple she requested. He informed her that he was just down the hall if she needed him and he bid her goodnight.
