The drive was completely silent. No one said a thing, and I wasn't about to break that by saying something. I wasn't even going to ask about the body in the plastic wrap in the trunk. Hopefully, Todd's visit didn't stir some kind of trouble. But why would it? Whether he was married or not I was allowed to be with whoever I wanted as long as it didn't interfere with work. I read their files and knew they weren't married, but our personal lives were our own. I glanced at Axel who sat in the passenger side staring at the papers I had given him last night. Otto and Oscar were in the back, guns in their hands. The street I was turning on was starting to thin out with cars. I slowed down and finally halted behind a car body shop that was supposed to be closed for repairs.
"The warehouse is up ahead. This is a secret meeting for a coup they are planning against their higher ups. This means there will be no extra fire power. Should be one man standing guard at the front. The rest will be at the base of the warehouse." I informed. Axel just glanced back at his brothers and they nodded signaling they were ready. They all started to get out of the van, Axel shooting me a look that definitely meant I should stay where I was. I inhaled and just leaned back against the seat and watched the three men walk down the alleyway with a calm stride.
So this was the first of many assignments together. Thinking back to what Oscar said made me wonder how long we'd be able to stand each other. I wondered who they all were individually. As a unit they seemed powerful, but were they just as powerful by themselves.
The sounds of multiple popping noises filled my ears and I looked up knowing it had started. I kept the van running, as the firing continued. It lasted for about five minutes then there was silence for a few seconds and then it started again. Then there was silence. I leaned up in my seat now seeing them walking back through the alley. Axel led, with Oscar and Otto on his right and left. Oscar's neck and shoulder were stained with blood and he didn't even bat a blonde eyelash at it. Axel got back in the passenger side and glanced at me as we waiting for the others to get in the trunk.
"Success?" I asked and he nodded. Once the other two were back inside, I drove us back home. Simple enough. My job wasn't to ever be in the middle of the violence thankfully. I didn't even look in the direction of the ware house as we passed. Once we were back at my home, I put my attention back to the dishes that desperately needed to be done. I figured when the men were ready to leave they would let me know. After about thirty minutes, I decided to clean up the kitchen. Ott and Oscar were staring at each with smirks as Otto back to raise a knife slowly in the air, but there was another swoosh from my coat closet. The men looked in that direction and Otto opened my closet and took the tube and opened it before looking at his brothers and just nodding at them. Axel stood beside me leaning against the fridge with his arms crossed. Adorable he was wearing fingerless black gloves.
"We have business to take care of tonight. We will bring you the location of our home tomorrow and you will take us home then." he said. I nodded. I guess there was another target that needed to be handled before they left.
"What do information do you need for business tonight?" I asked and he shook his head.
"We won't need you, but just in case, you do not leave this house. We don't need anything happening that could sidetrack our mission." he said. Well I wasn't too upset by this, because I definitely did not want to go see Todd tonight. I will admit, he conned me. He wore a mask that lured me into a false sense of security. Then the one time I go through his phone, I see he didn't really even try to hide his wife in his phone. I was such a fool, but it was my past. I looked up at him and nodded in understanding.
A light bang made me jump as I turned to see Otto had thrown one of his knives into my hardwood floor. Oscar was just starting to pick it up and was preparing to throw it. My eyes widened as I immediately ran over to them.
"Hey now! Come on!" I said standing between them now looking at them. They looked at me with a frown. "You are not allowed to tear up my home! You need something to do go play a game, watch TV, read a book!"
Immediately they both frowned with disgust at me.
"Don't you have hobbies?" I asked. Oscar and Otto just looked at each other before holding up the knife. I immediately took it from Oscar who sucked his teeth in anger before walking around Otto and marching to his room, slamming the door. Otto just looked down at me with a shake of his head as if I disappointed him. He took the knife and placed it in his knife holder that was strapped to this belt before turning and moving down the hall and going to his room. I raised my arms confused before looking at Axel who just shook his head and moved to my room and closed the door behind him. What the actual hell!
Normal POV
The Commission was good at knowing what the Swedes needed and what they needed right now was the address of Officer Todd Stevenson. Axel stared at the nice house that was three doors down from their van. Oscar sat in the back while Otto sat in the passenger's side. The sun was down and they had been sitting in their van for an hour now waiting for the cop to get home. This cop was a problem to the escort and that would soon be a problem for them. They knew the wife, Sarah was the only one home. She hadn't left all day.
He would have to die and so would his wife. Axel was disappointed in himself for not just shooting him through the door of Anja's home. But she said no violence at her home and he would respect that. If her home was going to be their rendezvous sight before going on assignments it would have to be in one piece. Even though it still would have been better if she had just packed up and stayed with them, he didn't need wandering eyes all over their property about who the brown-skinned girl was that was staying with them. The gossip and rumors would never end. Deep down however, the eldest Swede felt he had more of a responsibility to her since he was the one who took her virginity during her training. That and her father paying he and his brothers to watch her since he didn't agree with her being an escort and having three elites watching her seemed liked a good idea being the reason they agreed to be partnered with her. Both those things, she could never know.
Otto could hear from the cop's voice he was used to being dominate and getting what he wanted. That's how most cops were. He knew he could easily take advantage of the escort if he wanted and that did not sit well with him. Besides, he had already found out that he and his brothers were at her house and could come snooping around. It was going to happen one way or the other, his death. Might as well get it over with. Oscar never really liked police of any kind. They'd constantly harass he and his brothers on their way home to his mother's farm when they were teenagers, constantly goading them to try something so they could arrest them. So on sight, he hated the cop and seeing that he was involved with the escort means he could be involved with he and his brothers. So when Axel gave them the look, he couldn't hide the excitement he felt for being able to kill him.
Axel raised his head as the cop's car began to pull into the parking lot and quietly he drove the van a bit closer until he was right across the street. Luckily, their van belonged to an air conditioning company so it didn't look suspicious to be in this neighborhood this time of night. Their eyes began to darken as they watched the cop get out of the car. Slowly and silently they exited the van and began to approach Todd. Their guns were hidden and low behind their sides. Their dark clothes helped them blend in with the night. Todd didn't even notice them until he had already unlocked the front door and opened it. He turned, his instincts telling him someone was near. The Swedes held up their guns quickly making Todd's eyes widen as he tried to pull his gun out.
"Oh fu-"
They fired, bullets hit the cop immediately. His body shook violently as he was hit from head to toe. In seconds he fell back inside the door way hitting the ground with a hard thud. The brothers stepped inside immediately.
"TODD!" they heard a woman yelling from upstairs. Oscar looked up and without question he moved upstairs, his shot gun aiming already. Otto looked around the house from his spot, while Axel just walked over to Todd and looked him over in the face. His eyes were open and paled. Axel was quiet as he heard a scream and then a single gunshot from upstairs. As he looked at the officer's face he began to picture the escort and how she could possibly think this guy was worth her time let alone her body.
He remembered her first time with him. He wouldn't lie to himself, he had never slept with a black woman before and he wanted to know what that experience was like. He remembered how scared she was even though she couldn't see him, knowing she was naked in front of him. His memory of her was suddenly clouded by thoughts of this waste of organs atop of her. He sneered a bit and raised his gun and fired a few times into the man's face ripping the skin off him until he was unreadable.
Otto looked at him blankly and Oscar stared curiously from the bottom of the stairs. Axel looked from the corps to his brothers with his usual aggressive look before motioning for them to head out and they did.
Anja's POV
I had just finished brushing my teeth when I heard the front door opening. Since I wasn't going anywhere, I let Axel have my key for this assignment. He knocked on my door.
"Come." I replied exiting the bathroom and Axel moved in looking around until he saw me. I just looked at him. "Business was successful?"
He nodded and just motioned to the bathroom. I nodded.
"Leftovers are in the fridge." I replied but he had already closed the door to the bathroom. I wasn't sure if he was in a bad mood or not so I didn't pay much mind to it. I stretched out his blankets on the ground and placed his pillows at the head while he was in the shower. I got in the bed and just played with my phone for a bit. I was too into my social media apps to even notice the shower cut off. The door opened and I glanced over to see Axel exiting just as he was removing his towel from his waist. I quickly looked away and rolled on my side.
"Anja." he said and I closed my eyes for a second wondering what would happen tonight.
"Yes?" I asked.
"As much as I enjoy the floor, it could in time cause muscle problems and as much of a high tolerance for pain that I have, I do not need to purposely hurt my body." he said. Throwing caution out the window, I just rolled over and finally we made eye contact with each other. Since he looked me over, I look him over and had to say I was not disappointed.
As I suspected he's lean with some muscle to his arms and legs. He could win a fist fight if he needed, but wondered if he could win against Otto. He didn't seem aggravated with me clearly drinking him in. Finally, my eyes met his deep blue hues and for a second it seemed we were challenging each other.
"If it would make you comfortable, but mind my words." I replied coolly and he just nodded approaching the bed and getting underneath the blankets, his eyes never leaving mine. There was suddenly a tension in the air with him so close. As he was now lying on the pillow staring at me, I began to smell the scent of forest. My body suddenly shivered at the familiar feeling of it. Had I smelled this before?
I decided not to dwell on it for there was no way that smell was familiar to me. I rolled over on my side and rested my head on my arms trying to ignore the second body in my bed. I usually didn't have men in my bed unless I planned to sleep with them so this was like some awkward sleep over.
