She hovered over him, her eyes taking in his face, so precious to her.
She wanted to reach out and touch him, but she couldn't.
" Seto, " she spoke softly. " Please don't let your heart be trapped by the darkness… "
He could hear her, she knew; he was trying to fight the darkness, reaching for her….
The dragon's white light shone like starlight, with a brightness to rival the sun before she dissolved into a shower of stars, some of the small crystals touching his lips. She pressed her lips to his, kissing him with all the love she felt for him until she felt the darkness that had invaded his mind, and was trying to corrupt his soul fade until it completely vanished.
At least my soul will remain with you…
My light will protect you…
I will always be with you…
One day, I will come back to you….
Dark blue eyes opened, returning her to the real world, as she was met with the shadows of the room.
That dream again…
She'd been having that dream for a few years, but this was the first time she had done something so intimate before it ended….
She touched her lips, and found that they were still throbbing with the memory of that intimate gesture, causing her to blush in the darkness of her room.
But why…?
Picking up her phone from her bedside table, she checked the time, and saw that it was 4:30 A.M.
Quietly, she lay her phone back on the bedside table, and pulled her covers to her chin, her eyes closing as sleep reclaimed her.
Once again, she saw the man who looked so familiar, the one whose face looked almost like that of the one she held dear, the one who had promised to find her again….
Someday….
They were about to fall, the man who looked like him, and the girl who resembled the one he'd been forced to leave behind.
The disgustingly obese man laughed mockingly, suspended by the webbing that had been spun by the beast that looked like a cross between a centipede, a maggot, and a spider.
" I bet a Holy Priest's got to be SCRUMPTIOUS! " the man cackled triumphantly, sure that he'd won. " Gobble them up! "
The monster descended towards them.
" Seto! "
He heard his mentor's voice call out in fear, but his attention was diverted by the girl gently squeezing his wrist with her fingers. When he looked down at her, she smiled faintly at him before her eyes closed.
He felt panic shoot through him.
Had she fainted…?
As if to answer his question, her eyes opened once more, but they were no longer the deep blue orbs of only moments past; no, they were now glowing like the summer sky, and he saw himself reflected in them.
Seto…
He felt his breath leave him, and he tightened his grip on her wrist as the glow in her eyes seemed to spread out and wrap itself around her before moving into an upward spiral. The spiral extended itself before taking on the form of a magnificent white dragon that glowed light blue in the darkness of the underground arena.
" This is… " he breathed as the memory of that night so long ago came back to him. " The white dragon from that time! "
The dragon roared, as if in confirmation of its presence and identity. Its arrival halted the approach of the monster advancing on them, causing the smug grin on its master's face to fade, his beady eyes filling with fear.
" What the hell is up with that dragon?! "
Once again, Seto turned his eyes to the girl whose gaze was now on the dragon that was bound to her soul, protecting them with its tail coiled around them.
This white dragon is the Ka that she gave birth to…?
She saved me after I had rescued her from those slave traders?
His thoughts were interrupted by the voice of the prisoner who had regained his senses.
" Dammit! " the prisoner swore. " Finish them off! "
Seto flinched at the sight of the monster leaping at them, feeling his heart stop. The dragon, however, turned to face the disgusting beast just as the girl raised her head as if giving the order to attack, its mouth opening to reveal an orb of brilliant light that had formed before blasting the monster and its master away. The beam of light turned upwards, tearing through the roof before the dragon vanished.
He pulled her up, and when her arms went around his neck, he moved his arm around her waist, holding her close as she rested her head on his shoulder, and her eyes closed….
He opened his eyes, and turned over in his bed, the numbers on the digital clock reading 4:30 A.M.
That dream again…
He had been having that dream for years, and didn't know why.
Reaching over to the bedside table, his fingers closed around the item he had placed there. He sat up and opened his fingers, gazing at the pendant that glowed light blue in his hand, the face of the young girl who had given it to him as a parting gift in his mind's eye.
It was an unusual pendant, in the shape of a dragon fashioned from steel, wings spread in proud defiance, its body coiled around a semi-precious crystal that was white in color; the said crystal might look unremarkable in the light of day, however, once the shadows had overtaken the surroundings, its cerulean glow revealed itself. Many a night, he had lain awake in bed gazing at the pendant, its soft azure light comforting him when he felt himself being torn apart by not being able to see his younger brother, and the torture he was being subjected to at the hands of the man who had adopted them.
The pendant's glow made him feel as if SHE was there beside him, comforting him, and urging him not to give in...
It was no secret to him, or his younger brother that the ambush and attempt to kill them on the last night he had been with the girl who had given him the pendant was an attempt by their adoptive father to get rid of them, however, the real mystery for both of them was the white dragon that had suddenly appeared in the dark sky.
It had been a sight to behold, beautiful, yet terrible, and familiar as it unleashed a burst of light and killed their attackers before it roared in triumph and vanished as if it had never been….
Because it was the same dragon he had seen in his dreams…
Not long after that, he'd learned of the Blue Eyes White Dragon card, and felt that it should belong to him. That night, and his dreams that seemed like a distant memory came back to him with a vengeance when he laid eyes on it for the very first time.
It was the same dragon that had saved him that night….
The same one he had seen in his dreams…
He'd wanted to tell her that he'd found it, and that he was going to collect all the cards, but he couldn't because he knew that if that man learned about her, he would either target her, or use her against him.
Once that man was out of the way, and his little brother was safe, he would find her again..
