Zephyr Hddock was resting quietly by the fire place with her father and Uncle Toothless one winter night, as the storm raged loudly outside. Everyone was asleep, cuddled up with the dragons, safe and warm. Her mother tucked beneath Stormfly's wings while Nuffink was happily snoozing with two of the Nightlights in Nubless's protective embrace. Ever since that Snoggletogg evening it became obvious how silly this separation really was. There had been no sign of Grimmel in many years so it seemed the only reason the scaly creatures stayed away was out of fear of another war. To think she had missed all of this for so long, because something awful happened along time ago. Thankfully this mistake was realized and made right, as now the dragons come and go as they please. Of course, Toothless and the others spent most of their time with the Riders as they had many years ago.

Zephyr snuggled up close to her father as they leaned against the Night Fury, warm beside his smooth scales. Dart, the oldest of the cubs, was laying in her lap curled up in a neat little ball, snoring softly. The two girls had become inseparable since the day they had met. If you couldn't find one, you likely couldn't find the other; and when you did find them, they were usually together. Looking back, Zephyr was ashamed that she had ever wanted to kill these gentle lizards. They were kind and protective and just all around playful.

Though she hadn't realized it, Zephyr (and the rest of Berk) had even begun adapting dragon cutler and applying it in her daily life. She would wrestle with the Nightlights playfully and find protection under Stormfly's wings, and (much to her chagrin,) be groomed by Nubless as she apparently had been "adopted" by the Light Fury. There was even such a time that her parents were unable to retrieve Nuffink from the She-dragon's motherly care.

Yes, life was good, and all was as it always should be. Dart blinked lazily up at her human "sibling", yawning quietly. She didn't understand these scaleless beings but she new she liked them very much. They had silly habits and only ever walked on two legs, which seemed very uncomfortable to the young dragon. But none of that mattered of course, They were a pack, a family. Yes they looked very different but dragons came in all different shapes and sizes and so could the rest of the family.

Zephyr gave the small dragon a scratch on the chin, lulling her softly back to sleep. The young lass hoped one day when they are older, she and Dart might go flying like her family and the other dragons did. She had seen the cool maneuvers and tricks the adults could do and she wanted to be just like them. She, Nuffink and the nightlights would travel the archipelago and explore new places. They would discover uncharted islands and meet strange new dragons and camp out in the wilderness with nothing but the stars to cover them. Yes, these scaly friends would fit in just fine here. The things they would see together were vast and the possibilities endless. They could do nothing and everything and all would be grand so long as they were together.

The short redhead snuggled up with her father and the Night Fury, closing her eyes and making herself as comfortable as she could. She would certainly need her rest if she were to go flying with everyone tomorrow. The little viking went to sleep with a content smile on her face, dreaming of the days to come.

Yes, her world was an unusual one, but it was hers, and that's all she ever wanted. There would no doubt be trouble in the future be it hunters or harsh weather, but as long as they all stayed together everything would be perfect. After all, what family isn't made up of different shapes and sizes?
