Wohooo! Now, we shall start with the second part of the story. Here is the first chapter!
Before we start, as usual, the disclaimer. I'm don't any of the characters, they belong to Masashi Kishimoto; just this single plot going on is from my imagination.
Now, let's start with. the story!
Chapter 17: Uzumaki's on the road
Uzushiogakure, 18 days before (the occurrence of all the events explained previously)
It was a beautiful day. They sea was calm, the water sparkled under the bright sun's rays. The birds chirped on the trees near the shore of a large island in Nami no Kuni, a few hours from the mainland. Nearing the shore of this island, a tiny boat carrying six members could be seen.
From a distance, one could see the presence of three females and three males. One of the males being the youngest, probably around five years of age with striving blond hair and a muddy orange set of clothing. Beside him, they could see someone who looked like the next youngest in the group, a young girl with bright, long, red hair in dark purple clothing. Behind them sat a young man with brown hair and a bright blue scarf around his neck. He seemed to be looking out for the younger two kids.
In the centre of the boat, was another young man about the same age as the previous or a few years older. He had dark brown hair and looked build enough to row the boat across the sea from the mainland. On the other side of him sat two beautiful young women. Both chatted softly as they kept an eye on the others. One woman had shoulder-length bright blonde hair and wore black ninja clothing with sky-clue edges and highlights. The last was a woman who looked around the same age but had bright, shoulder-length, red hair that matched that of the young girl at the front. She also looked like she had specs on and wore a light purple outfit.
It took them another fifteen minutes before they reached the shore. They all got out of the boat.
"Ah! It is good to be home!", said the older blonde. "Do you remember this place, misume?", she asked with a smile, as she bent down to look at the younger redhead.
"A bit, Kaa-chan", replied the girl shyly.
"I remember the wonderful castle walls and that old lady who always offered us sweets, Naru-nee. Remember, Ume-chan? She used to always offer us those delicious daifukus whenever we were playing in that small garden near where we stayed?", spoke the boy with a blue scarf on.
The young girl, Ume seemed to think a bit before nodding her head with excitement.
The older blonde, her mother, Naru as the other boy called chuckled at the boy's antics. She ruffled his hair and said, "Yes Kono-kun. Emiko-oba used to always feed you both too much daifuku and then you both would run around all right and irritate Pervy Sennin", a lone tear streamed down her cheek as if she was recollecting an old memory.
Then Naru lifted the youngest boy into her arms and pointed into the forest. "Look here Kaede-kun. You were born on this island. Across those trees. You were just a tiny baby in my arms when we had to leave with you and your Nēchan to train and become strong."
The boy, Kaede, looked at the place where his mother was pointing with curiously and with some confusion as he couldn't find anything there. He still seemed excited to see the place that his Kaa-chan called home.
"Uh! Nēchan, I'll also get going. Need to reach home before it turns dark", said the boy who was earlier rowing the boat.
"Inari-kun, you are staying here with us tonight. I spoke to Tsunami-oba and Tazuna-ojī, they agreed that you can stay here for two to three days. So, you will be here with us for the time being. You didn't allow even one of us to take over the rowing for a few hours. You will be tired", spoke Naru. "Also, it'll give you a chance to get to know Konohamaru-kun, Ume-chan and Kaede-kun here. The last you all saw each other was just for a few hours and that too years ago."
Inari, the boy who did the rowing earlier, gave a small, pleasant smile and nodded.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you will love it here. Even you must be excited to finally have a ninja village nearby after nearly forty years", said Kono or Konohamaru.
"Tazuna-ojī also wanted you to take a look at where you can help with the constructions", added Naru.
They've another young lady with bright red hair stood in one corner and waited awkwardly for the rest to finish speaking. She was still processing what had happened just a hand full of days back.
~~Flashback~~
Konohagakure, 4 days before
"Ne! Karin-san", came a voice startling the redhead from her thoughts on how to spend the rest of her life inside a cage where she was kept a prisoner. Karin looked up and tried to figure out who it was in the darkness.
She was shocked to see an unmistakable blonde hair that she could associate with just one person… Naruto Uzumaki. Karin didn't know what to expect. So she just decided to wait and watch Naruto does. So she responded, "Yeah? Was there something you needed the great Naruto Uzumaki?"
Naruto chuckled at that and rubbed the back of her neck with nervousness.
"Uh… Actually, Sasuke-nī recently told me that you are from the Uzumaki clan and that Orochimaru captured you at a young age for your abilities", stated Naruto.
"So what? You want to use me as well?", scoffed Karin.
Suddenly Naruto's demeanour changed and she became very serious. "I would never to do that", she said firmly. "Actually I wanted to offer you something."
Karin's curiosity peaked but so did her defences. She just asked, "What is it?". "You know my surname is Uzumaki right?", she asked. Karin nodded. "It's not that I was given the surname just because I hold Kurama, the Kyūbi. I actually am an Uzumaki."
Karin was shocked. "B-but y-you don't even have Uzumaki clan's most significant trait. The red hair", she stated. Naruto again rubbed the back of her neck and said, "That's 'cause I'm partially an Uzumaki. My Kaa-san was one. I just took over my Tōsan for looks. Since both were from powerful people from significantly powerful clans, there was a chance I could look like either. But I ended up with looks more Namikaze than Uzumaki."
"Na-Namikaze? You are the Yondaime H-Hokage and K-Kushina-sama's daughter?", Karin was even more shocked. "Ye-Yeah!", Naruto chuckled again. "My full name is actually Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze. Just to avoid attention from other villages after Kyūbi attack, Sandaime-jiji spread the news that I was named Uzumaki to honour the previous Jinchūriki's".
"Wow! You are royalty. Wonder why Sasuke-kun never said any of these things to us", she wondered out loud. "So Nīsan didn't disclose anything then", sighed Naruto. "Wait, what? Did you call Sasuke-kun, Nīsan? Why would Sasuke-kun be your aniki and still oppose you? You can't be his Imōto, Naruto…. I m-mean, I think you must have misunderstood, Naruto-sama", Karin tried to reason.
"Ne! You don't have to call me '-sama'. Just Naruto is fine. Coming to your other questions, Sasuke is my aniki because I was adopted by the Uchiha's after my parents were killed during the Kyūbi attack. And I believe Nīsan fought me, not to oppose me, but be let his hunger for power and revenge", explained Naruto.
They both allowed the silence to prevail over the room for the next few minutes. Finally, Naruto decided to speak up on the matter she first came for.
"I came here to give you an offer…", she started. "I will be moving with my family to Uzushio. Since you are an Uzumaki and a descendant of Uzu, I can ask for permission to take you with me. That is if you are interested in doing so. We can go there and build ourselves a new life."
"B-but isn't Uzu gone?", Karin asked doubtfully. "From what Kaa-san used to tell me when I was young, once Uzu was destroyed by the enemy forces, those who survived, fled to faraway lands and are still in hiding."
"That's true to an extent actually. All survivors did flee once Uzu was attacked. But a few decades later, a few who dared, came back to their homeland to rebuild the place", stated Naruto. "I spent almost a year in Uzu a few years back. There are about fifty people living there. Not all Uzumaki, some even from other clans that lived in Uzu. They all still remain in hidden. I actually advised them to remain in hiding and not enter for the war as they are still very small in number."
Karin understood why they would do that. If she had a choice and if her whole family wasn't killed by Orochimaru, she would probably have never interfered with the battle. Even if it meant not meeting Sasuke-kun, she would stay in hiding with her parents in Kusogakure.
"I'll be heading back to Uzu now since the war is over. I want to go back and help build back my homeland, my village", stated Naruto. "So, would you like to join me to Uzu or would you rather stay here, in this village and this cell", she asked.
~~Flashback~~
Karin had just agreed to join in with Naruto and now they were all on the island, just a few steps away from Uzu.
