Erin's eyes fluttered open as she felt Spencer cover her face with feather light kisses. A small smile spread across her lips as she more fully awakened to look up into his face. "I am torn," she finally murmured as he started to kiss his way down to column of her neck.
"About what?" he asked, the vibrations of those two words against the sensitive spot on her neck that he was kissing caused her to shiver, and Erin brought up a hand to tug on his hair as she sighed with pleasure. "Erin? Why are you torn?"
"I want to continue what we started last night, but I also really want to get out and explore Tangier some more. Will you promise me that, the first Saturday that you're home from a case, we'll spend it in bed? Or at least as long as we can stand to be there without food?"
He chuckled before rolling off her and padding over to the dresser, grabbing out clothes for the day, laying hers out before hurriedly dressing. "We can definitely plan for that. I might even take the time to look up some more adventurous things for us to try on our sinful Saturday. Now, let's get up, the Museum of Contemporary Art is calling our names, as soon as we get breakfast."
"Do you want to head down to the dining room and order for me while I get ready? I need to take care of a few needs." He nodded before coming over to her side and kissed her forehead before darting into the bathroom. While he was in there, Erin slipped out of bed, wrapping the sheet around her body as she headed over to the balcony, stepping outside to feel the wind against her skin. She heard the door to their room close, and she let out a contented sigh as she made her way back inside, dropping the sheet to the floor as she picked up the outfit and made her way into the bathroom. It didn't take long for her to wash away the stale sweat scent that great sex had left on her skin, and as her body dried, she brushed out her hair and applied a light layer of makeup before dressing. "Oh, a day spent in museums with you is going to be heaven, Spencer," she murmured as she adjusted how her blouse fit, and then picked up her purse before heading down to the elevators.
By the time she joined Spencer in the dining room, their breakfast was just being placed on the table, and she gave a small nod to their server as she took a seat across from him. "And after we finish at the first museum, we're getting lunch and then headed to the Museum of Antiquities, yes?"
"Yes, that was the one that you wanted to see. Oh, and Rossi stopped by our table while you were still upstairs. Tomorrow, he's planning on have a group supper, as a way to end our time here in Tangier. I thought that we might want to make one last pass through the medina and pick up any last minute souvenirs that we might see. Though we should probably spend the afternoon packing."
"Oh, you've noticed that I haven't been keeping up on that?" she teased, even as her stomach did a little flip flop at the thought of going home. As she began to eat she tried to calm the sudden racing of her heart, which only lasted until Spencer reached across the table to take hold of her hand. "I'm okay, I think."
"Your physical reactions would belie those words, Erin. What caused you to be so jumpy all of a sudden?"
"There might be times when I hate the fact that you can read me so well. I suppose that it's just now hitting me that we're going home in two days, and then we won't see each other like this every day. You'll be off on cases, or at your apartment, and I guess that I just didn't realise that it would take the wind out of my sails so much. It's a bit ridiculous."
"No, it's understandable, Erin. We'll just have to carve out time for our relationship to flourish. Which will include me calling you from the road. I'll try to do so at appropriate times when we're on the West Coast. I wouldn't want to keep you up too late, after all." He winked at her, and she nodded, feeling her heart settle a little with the sweet words. "And I wouldn't say no to spending time at your home, getting to know where you live. After all, I think that I'll be the one to move in with you, when the time is right. Your children wouldn't be comfortable in a one bedroom apartment."
"That is very true. But that will be a bridge we cross when the time is right. I'd rather not rush headlong into madness when we return. This is the first blush of love, and my children are going to need a little time to adjust to the fact that I've met someone new. That's why I'm trying to hold on to every precious moment here that I can." She smiled as she finished up her meal, leaning back in her seat as she cradled her coffee mug close to her chest as she watched him intently. "I think, if I go about this the right way, my children will love you as much as I do, and in short order, too."
"I hope that they can see that I'll treat their mother with the love and respect that she deserves, and know that I won't be unfaithful." She smiled as she nodded. "You do realise, as well, that when we get back, we're going to have to dive right back into finding the Replicator."
Erin nodded slowly, hating the fact that real life was bleeding back into their cozy little paradise. "We're going to catch him, I can feel it in my bones. It's just odd that this would only start after Alex…damn."
"What?"
"I think that I need to speak with Aaron before we head out for the morning. Do you have his number?" Spencer nodded. "Forward it to me?" He pulled out his phone and did as asked, and the moment she received it, she called him.
"Hello?"
"Aaron, it's me. Are you still in the hotel?"
"I am."
"Meet me in the restaurant, I have something that can't wait, even though I hate to bring real life into our vacation."
"Give me five minutes?"
"Of course." They ended the call, and then she was slipping her phone back into her purse before looking at Spencer. "Sometimes, it takes being in a new environment to bring about some much needed clarity on a subject. If I'm proven correct, it will make a sick sort of sense. I did ruin his career along with Alex's during the Amerithrax debacle. Which is also why I wanted to talk to Aaron face to face. We might get a late start today, but it will be necessary. I promise."
"I trust you, Erin."
She nodded and leaned forward, reaching across the table for his hand, needing it to anchor herself to this moment, and the realisation that her past actions had brought this wrath down upon them all. "So many innocent people have died because of me," she murmured as she tightened her hand around his.
"Erin, no. You didn't make the Replicator do what he did. He is the one responsible." She nodded sharply, not really believing him in the depth of her heart. Still, he seemed to know her inner self so well, as he tightened his hold as well, as if to tell her that he would never let her go.
