"Hey Alice," Robin walked over to Alice, who didn't look up from her sketch. "What are you doing?"

"Drawing," Alice responded absentmindedly.

"Well, I think if you'd stop for a second, you'll see that I have something more interesting to do," Robin said. Her words got Alice's attention.

"What did you have in mind?" Alice asked, putting her sketch pad aside and tucking her pencil behind her ear.

"Well, back when we were cursed, I showed you the Heights," Robin explained. "But now that we're here, we should explore Storybrooke. Don't you think?"

"Yeah, I think we should," Alice agreed. "Just let me grab my backpack, and we can go."

Alice swung her backpack over her shoulder and left the apartment with Robin. They called a cab, and took it from Hyperion Heights to Storybrooke. (You know, since all the realms are in Maine, I figure the Heights got moved too.)

On the ride to Storybrooke, Alice took out her sketchpad and began to work on her drawing again.

"What are you drawing?" Robin inquired. She'd hoped Alice would show more interest in their date.

"A little something I thought we could put in the living room," Alice answered, looking down at her sketch. "You can have a look, if you'd like."

When Robin looked down, her heart melted. Alice had been sketching their first date in the heights. She had perfectly captured the moment that Robin asked her to go out with her. Alice had managed to show the hope Robin's face had displayed in that moment, and she had perfectly captured her own curiosity when Robin held out her hand and helped her up.

"It's not finished," Alice said, interrupting Robin's admiration of the picture. "But I think once I add color, it'll look alright."

"It's beautiful Alice. And so are you." Alice blushed, and put down her pencil.

"I'm sorry I was so distracted," she apologized. "It's just, I get lost in what I'm doing sometimes, and I sort of forgot we're on a date. But nothing's more important than you. Honest. I'm going to put up this sketch, and we're going to have a nice day together."

Before Robin could respond, the cab came to a screeching halt.

"Alright, you're in Storybrooke," the driver said roughly. "Now pay up!"

Robin took out her wallet and handed him a wad of cash. He took it, and the two women got out of the car together.

"So. Where are we going first?" Alice asked, linking arms with Robin.

"Well. . ." Robin trailed off. She hadn't really planned where they were going first. She'd only really planned out where they were going to go that night. "Why don't we head over to Granny's and get some lunch?"

"Alright. Whatever you think is best," Alice agreed. "After all, this is your home. I don't really know my way around."

Robin smiled at Alice, and pulled her towards Granny's diner.

"Hi, Robin," Granny greeted them. "And who's this lovely lady?"

"Hi, I'm Alice. Robin's girlfriend," Alice introduced herself.

And soon to be fiance, if I have anything to say about it, Robin thought, and she couldn't stop a grin from spreading across her face.

"What's got you smiling like that?" Alice inquired, taking Robin's hand.

"Oh, nothing. I just. . . love hearing the way you say girlfriend," Robin covered up her mistake expertly, and Alice bought her lie.

"Well, how about you two lovebirds sit in that booth over there?" Granny suggested. She smiled, because these two young women reminded her a bit of Ruby and Dorothy.

Robin and Alice sat across from each other at their booth, and quickly got lost in each other's eyes. Eventually, Granny came over to take their order, and ended up having to clear her throat loudly to get their attention.

"Oh! Sorry. I didn't see you there, Granny," Robin apologized, blushing slightly. "Umm. . . I'll have grilled cheese and tomato soup. Alice? What do you want, love?"

"The same," Alice told Granny, and thanked her when she took their menus.

"Maybe we should talk," Robin suggested. "So we can try and stop something like that from happening again."

Alice nodded, and said, "So. I've been told that my Papa came from a wish. Can you explain to me how that happened?"

"Well, I can try. It's pretty complicated," Robin chuckled, but she could see that Alice really was interested in finding out. "From what I understand, the Evil Queen wanted there to be no savior. So she used a genie to wish that Emma had never been the savior. Her wish created another world, and that's where your father came from."

"Why would your Aunt wish that Emma wasn't the savior?" Alice questioned. "That doesn't make any sense. I thought she got Emma out of my Papa's world."

"Well, after my dad died, Aunt Regina used a serum to split herself into two people," Robin explained. "So there was Aunt Regina, and there was the Evil Queen. I was just a baby when all this happened, so I don't remember it, but that's what I've been told."

"Why'd your aunt split herself into two people?" Alice was full of questions, but it didn't bother Robin one bit. In fact, that was one of the things she loved most about Alice: her curious nature.

"She thought that my dad was the only thing stopping her from being evil. She loved him. So-" Robin was about to say something else, when Granny interrupted them with their sandwiches.

Alice thanked her, and Robin continued. "So after he died, she was just scared, and so she split herself."

"Wait. Your aunt was in love with your dad?" Alice frowned in that adorable way she did when she was confused, and Robin's heart fluttered with love.

"Yep. See, my mom disguised herself as his dead wife, and my Aunt Regina let him go with her," Robin explained. "So basically, I was conceived so that my evil mom could get revenge on her sister."

"That's horrible!" Alice exclaimed, and Robin nodded. "But at least some good came of all of this. After all, if she hadn't done that, neither of us would exist."

"That's true," Robin agreed. "But enough about me. Your Mother Gothel's forgotten daughter. How did that happen?"

Robin knew she'd crossed a line the second she saw Alice's face.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Sometimes, I'm a little blunt, and I didn't think this could be a touchy subject for you. . ." Robin began, but Alice cut her off.

"No, no. No need to be sorry," she said. "You told me your life story, so it's only fair that I tell you mine."

"Alice, you don't have to. . ." Robin tried, but Alice cut her off again.

"No, I do. I've got to tell someone, and I trust you," Alice said firmly. Robin just nodded. "My Papa was on one of his adventures one day when he came across a tower in the woods. He climbed up it, and found a beautiful maiden with long blonde hair. He asked her to come with him, but she said she was trapped in the tower by a witch. The only way to get her out was by bringing her a flower from the witch's garden. So, Papa went to the garden and stole the flower. When he got back, he and the woman, who he thought to be named Rapunzel, celebrated her freedom with. . . uh. . . a rather exciting night. When he woke up the next morning, the maiden was gone, and he was in the tower with a witch and a baby."

Robin gasped, and interrupted, "So wait. Your mother was disguised as someone else? That's honestly a bit of a relief. I don't know what I would have done if you said your dad had a baby with a witch because he wanted to. Anyway. Finish the story!"

"Right. Well, when he woke up the next morning, the witch was holding a baby," Alice continued. "He asked what the witch had done with Rapuzel, and she said the girl hadn't been in the tower for years. Instead, it was Gothel herself who was locked in the tower, and the only way she could leave is if she left someone in her bloodline to take her place."

"So she just left you there?" Robin asked angrily.

"Yep," Alice agreed. "But it was alright. Papa stayed there with me, and everything turned out okay in the end."

Throughout the rest of the day, Robin and Alice explored all of Storybrooke. They went to the library, took a hike in the woods, climbed the clock tower, and eventually ended up at the bench by the lake.

They sat down and watched the water for a while. Alice commented that the leaves on the lake could be boats for bugs, and the two women shared a laugh.

Alice had never felt so relaxed in her life. She was happy to be with the woman she loved, and she wouldn't trade this moment for anything. Robin, however, was practically twitching with nerves. She knew, deep down, what Alice's answer to her question would be, but that didn't make what she was about to do any less nerve racking.

"Alice?" she asked eventually. "Why don't we stand up and move a little closer to the water?"

Robin prayed that Alice wouldn't be difficult about this, and much to her relief, she wasn't.

"Okay. Whatever you want, my love," Alice agreed. The two of them stepped closer to the water, Robin still fidgeting with the ring in her pocket.

The two stood side by side by the water, and Robin worked up the courage to face Alice. She got down on her knee and pulled out the ring.

"Alice," she began, hoping her words wouldn't fail her. "I know we haven't known each other very long, but I've never been so sure of anything in my life. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you. I loved you in the enchanted forest, the moment I met you. I loved you when Margot saved Tilly's life, and I have loved you every second since the first time I laid eyes on you. Alice Jones, will you marry me?"

"Oh, Robin," Alice responded. "Is that even a question? Of course I'll marry you!"

She held out her left hand to Robin, who slipped the beautiful diamond ring onto her finger.

Robin leapt to her feet, and the two kissed, Robin's hands on Alice's waist, Alice's arms around her neck.

When the two finally broke apart, Robin linked arms with her fiance, and the two women walked back to their apartment with huge smiles on their faces.
