A year after the portal had been destroyed, Commander Taylor and Jim were out exploring the Badlands.

"We have been out here for days and haven't seen anything," said Jim as Taylor scanned the area with binoculars.

"You might want to take that back," said Taylor as he noticed some buildings in the distance and a wooden fence around it.

"You think they are nice?" asked Jim. Suddenly, smoke gathered around them as some kind of container was thrown at their feet.

"I don't think so," said Taylor before they fainted. When the two woke up, they found themselves tied to a pole in a tent.

"What's going on?" asked Jim as he looked around.

"Oh, you two are awake," said a woman in Native American like clothes and a staff in her right hand as she walked into the tent.

"What did you do to us?" asked Taylor.

"My men used a herbal drug to knock you out, no need to worry about any side effects, we just wanted to search you for allowing you into our village," said the woman as she untied them.

"You the leader of this village?" asked Jim as they stood up.

"That's right, my name is Abedabun, and I want to know where you came from, and what this is," said the woman as she held Jim's gun.

"Be careful with that, it's a weapon called a gun," said Jim.

"This is a weapon?" asked Abedabun as she put the gun down on a wooden table.

"I can demonstrate it if you want, but you have to be careful with it because it can kill you with just one use," said Jim.

"You can demonstrate this after explaining what you are doing here," said Abedabun.

"I hope you have time," said Taylor. An hour later, the two had finished their explanation.

"Your people have gone through a lot," said Abedabun.

"Which is why we came to find anyone out here, so we can get some help," said Jim.

"I'll help you if you can help my people with finding new land, this one is no longer good for our people to remain on," said Abedabun.

"I think we can do that," said Taylor.
