A few days later, the exploration group was traveling a land bridge that had connected the island to the mainland.
"Good thing the ocean receded to form this bridge," said Jim.
"Let's hope that we can find enough Red Zarafas today, this bridge will be gone in a week's time and I don't want to stay there for long," said Malcolm.
"You can say that again," said Jim as they reached the beach. After a few hours of searching, the group had found four baskets worth of Red Zarafas.
"Alright, I think we have enough, Malcolm," said Jim.
"Let me run a scan of the island real quick, Commander Taylor wanted to know what all minerals are here," said Malcolm who had set up a small machine on the ground. Malcolm then pressed a button, causing the machine to fire a probe into the ground.
"Alright, we can go now," said Malcolm. However, before anyone could say a word, a noise came from the forest.
"We're surrounded," said a soldier as even more noises came from the forest. Five Ovosaurus then appeared around them.
"Get back to the bridge!" said Jim. Everyone then started running as Jim and Reynolds shot at the Ovosauras.
"They just keep coming!" said Reynolds as more of the dinosaurs started giving chase. Jim and he had jumped on the back of a humor as it was pulling out, still giving cover fire as they drove away.
"They shouldn't follow us across the bridge," said Malcolm as he saw the bridge. Sure enough, the Ovosaurus had not followed them past the edge of the bridge.
"Why aren't they following us?" asked Reynolds.
"They need to stay with their eggs," said Jim as they noticed the Ovosaurus return to the forest.
"No way," said Malcolm as he looked at the tablet that he had brought with him.
"What is it?" asked Jim while climbing into the humor as it still drove off.
"There are a lot more minerals on that island than we thought," said Malcolm with a stunned expression.
