A 24 year old Kakashi is found sitting in his home, hitting targets that he had spread all throughout his living room on a warm summer afternoon. Truthfully, this had been his normal routine for the past few years and the monotony of his job was starting to take a toll on him.
His life had been a constant cycle of Sharingan training, reserve building, and senses training. His medical knowledge was basic but enough to treat most minor injuries like fractures and twists.
Deciding to deviate slightly, he set his next few kunai he was holding and go on a walk through the village center. However, the moment his foot left the door he was felt a disturbance ten meters away.
Deciding to wait for what was undoubtedly Anbu, he was still for all of about five seconds before two appeared in front of him.
"The Hokage has requested your presence within the next few minutes Sir." A little surprised at the request since he had just gotten back from an A-turned-S rank solo mission a few days ago, he took a second to collect himself and nodded. The Anbu duo bowed and dissapeared in a swirl of leaves.
Sighing and slightly laughing to himself at how he did technically get what he asked for, a deviation from his normal routine, he turned around and slipped into his battle armor, arm and leg guards, and chakra sabre. He turned to the left and picked up his ceramic mask that was hanging on the wall.
He didn't immediately put it on but instead held it in his hands and inspected it, wondering if it might be time to return to active Jounin duty.
'Enough reminiscing,' he mentally slapped his cheeks to stay focused, ' I need to get to the Hokage Tower'. Donning his mask he took one look back at his living room and the book he needed to put back on the shelf, he channeled chakra into his eyes and used the 'Kamui', the name he decided to give the jutsu, and pulled himself through time and space.
In a matter of moments he was in front of the Hokage, no longer exhausted by the use of Kamui, stood straight and ready for whatever mission Hiruzen had for him.
"Stand down, I have a request for you. Not Hokage to soldier, but Hiruzen to Kakashi."
Taking the hint and removing his mask, he asked "What request, sir?"
He took a deep breath and asked "Would you be willing to leave the Anbu and become a Jounin teacher?"
"If I accept?" Kakashi asked. He was interested but didn't want to accept too quickly and look desperate. Honestly, any sort of mix up would be appreciated.
"You will have the chance to train a team the potential of which hasn't been seen in over a decade" Hiruzen said, his smile turning into a smirk as he saw the shocked look on Kakashi's face.
His voice was barely a whisper "You dont mean..."
Rather than use words, he pulled out three manilla folders. Before handing them to Kakashi though, he told him "With your constant training and honed abilities, you can easily rival Jiraiya in power. That is why I'm trusting you with this team."
Kakashi picked the first folder. The name and picture nearly gave him a heart attack.
Naruto Uzumaki is a short, loudmouthed troublemaker with blond hair and blue eyes. He has no proficiency in any area that is required to be a ninja.
*Jinchruuriki of the Nine-Tails
"Its been awhile since I've seen little Naruto" he admitted, but he had a question. "Hokage-sama it says here that he is set to graduate in two years. Assuming that the rest of his team will also be in his class, will the two years I have be to prepare for training them?"
"Please finish reading the other files first" Hiruzen said with a smug smirk, dodging the question. Kakashi obviously picked up on this but didn't push.
Next up was someone who Kakashi had personally never interacted with.
Sasuke Uchiha is the last surviving member of the Uchiha clan with the trademark black hair and eyes. Proficient in many categories, he is guaranteed to become the rookie of the year in two years.
'He's trusting me with the last Uchiha?!' he thought with a panic. Reading his body language, Hiruzen layed his fears to rest.
"You are one of the strongest ninja in the village, the only place safer than next to you is next to me."
Knowing that besides the Hokage himself he was one of if not the strongest ninja currently in the village, he conceded the point to the Hokage.
Still, this was his brother so he knew he had his work cut out for him.
"Last one." Hiruzen stated as he tapped the last folder. Kakashi picked it up and was slightly perplexed.
Sakura Haruno is the orphan of a small civilian village with no known family. Her pink hair is a noticeable and defining trait along green eyes. Her accuracy and taijutsu are subpar but academic scores are perfect. She also appears to have perfect chakra control.
"Interesting," Kakashi begins and asks "but what do they mean by perfect? I don't think I've ever seen anyone with true 'perfect' control."
Hiruzen explains "She can perform the Mystical Palm Technique and Chakra Scalpel in addition to a strange regeneration that seems to be separate from her chakra system."
"Hokage-sama, if I didn't know any better" he started, finally seeing the entire picture "I'd think this team is eerily familiar to another legendary three man team..."
"Your earlier question about them being ten and having to wait two to three years about them is justified and a question I was waiting for."
Kakashi was worried. Not because of the excited tone and anticipation in his voice that had slowly been reaching it's crescendo from the moment he had asked the question, but because of the huge smile splitting across the normally stoic Hokage's face.
"Do not fear Kakash," his statement immediately having the opposite effect on him "you won't have to worry about waiting that long. In fact, you won't wait long at all."
"Starting tomorrow, you will be adopting them. By the time they graduate, I want them top of their class and shining examples of the Will of Fire."
