A few months after they had started digging, Malcolm and the others had returned home to Terra Nova.
"You have done good in excavating all of these minerals," said Taylor as he, Malcolm, and Abedabun stood outside a storage container full of crates. Jim had gone to spend time with the family since he had been away for so long.
"Sir, if it's alright with you, I would like to have about two-hundred pounds of the gold that we got," said Malcolm.
"Why would you need all that gold?" asked Taylor.
"I have an idea for a new machine, but I need the gold to help with the circuits and components of it," said Malcolm.
"Very well, the rest will be split into two groups, one for money and the other for jewelry, some of the women have been wanting to start making some for awhile now," said Taylor.
"Is jewelry the same as earrings?" asked Abedabun as she pointed to the small earrings that she had received as a present from a woman in the camp.
"They are, but there are other kinds as well," said Taylor.
"Which reminds me, Zoe met me earlier and wanted me to give you this," said Malcom as he pulled a bracelet made out of beads and small stones from his pocket.
"That was so kind of her," said Abedabun as she took the bracelet. Meanwhile, at Jim's house, he and the family were sitting around eating lunch.
"Boy it's better to have a homemade meal than camp food," said Jim.
"Glad to hear that you still like my cooking," said Elizabeth with a smile.
"Can we go see all the gems and stuff after we eat, dad?" asked Zoe, a glimmer in her eyes.
"Yeah, can we?" asked Maddy.
"I don't see why not," said Jim.
