Jacked "chapter" 2:
Stoic Threw his head back in a bellow of laughter – "Ohhoho! Don't Think I don't know what you're up to!"
There was no way. No way that his dad knew that was his insecurity. Hiccup had specifically framed his question to make sure his Dad wouldn't figure out. Not that Hiccup thought Stoic would make fun of him for it; it was just embarrassing to admit.
"Sure thing, Dad".
Hiccup wiped his palms against his trousers.
"Well Hiccup, If you really want to win the yak lifting contest, -" Hiccup absolutely did not correct his dad the reason, "-You'll probably need to beef up." Stoic paused, "Well the way I see it, you already do just as much working out in the forge as anyone else. In fact, I don't think I've met a blacksmith in all my life as weak as you. You see, your problem is that you don't eat like a Viking. To get Haddock's legendary strength, you'll need meat, and lots of it! The other thing you'll need to win the contest is-"
While Hiccup was relieved that his dad mistakenly assumed that he was preparing for the annual Berk Yak lifting contest, he was less happy to sit through half an hour of how to maintain a good grip on a yak. In truth, he ended up zoning out through most of it .
"-and when you practice your double yaklift, remember – absolutely never lift it by the center hindleg!" Stoic finished enthusiastically.
"Uhh, right. No double hindleg yaklift. Thanks. I'll go … practice."
After that enlightening discussion, Hiccup went to the great hall to contemplate the relevant advice that he got – eat more. He ate plenty, or so he thought. But at the great hall Hiccup watched multiple Vikings go back to get a third or fourth plate of smoked yak. Hiccup usually felt very full after two. He decided to get a third serving anyway – if that was what it was going to take to get bigger biceps than Astrid, then he would do it. Anything for the gains.
AN: I think each time I post a chapter, I will also reupload the previous chapter with slight revisions. Its been a while since I've done writing or editing so I'll need so practice on both. Next chapter will probably feature snotlout and maybe astrid.
