Hiccup looked at the two small iron bars.
"You're kidding, right?" The weights Snotlout had given him to start were almost insultingly small. No more than a quarter stone each.
"No I am not. Trust me Hiccup, if you want to even have a chance at winning the yak lifting competition, you have to do this my way"
"But this is hardly any weight at all. My hammer at the forge is as heavy as these combined!" Hiccup griped.
"Look, Britannia wasn't pillaged in a day, and your aren't going to triple your muscle mass over night. If you want to make any progress, you have to do this the right way, which just so happens to be the Snotlout way."
Hiccup was tempted to walk out right then and there. Instead, he sighed. "You know what, lets just get started."
"Great. The most important part of training is, as you should know, form. Without good form, you can injure yourself and lose all of your progress. I would know. When I was seven – "
After a longwinded and underwhelming story about how Snotlout broke his wrist, Hiccup and Snotlout began training in earnest. It was slow, and surprisingly difficult, but Hiccup found himself enjoying it. At the end, Snotlout even brought out a pint for each of them. Hiccup never knew that working out could be so satisfying, and never thought that Snotlout would make good company, but he was wrong on both accounts.
Just as Hiccup was leaving, Snotlout asked, "So, same time, same place tomorrow?"
"Oh, uh –" Hiccup had planned on working out on his own after that first session, but, "Sure. I'll be here."
*1 stone (very) roughly equals 14 lbs. or 6 kg
AN: Snotlout and Hiccup would totally be gym buddies. But will Hiccup's work under Snotlout's guidance be enough for hiccup to get the gains?
Side note: Thanks for the reviews everyone. I really do appreciate comments (even when they make little sense or just point out a spelling error)
