As the dust from the explosion slowly settled devastation was revealed. The surrounding buildings were crumbling as the nearest walls had been destroyed, while the street was little more than a charred crater.

There were no Grimm within the blast radius, but just beyond a few were already creeping forward cautiously. On the other side lay the unconscious forms of Weiss and Latune, and once the Grimm caught sight of them the started advancing towards them, first slowly, but as the drew closer they picked up speed.

But just as the nearest one reached the centre of the devastation, preparing to lunge, its charge was halted as its body was pierced by several swords. These were soon followed by Penny, with more swords floating around her, quickly being sent out to deal with the advancing Grimm.

The beasts' advance was halted as several of their number were slain on the spot, with many more following as the blades spun onwards. This continued for a short while before reinforcements arrived in the form of Jaune and Pyrrha who quickly took the two unconscious girls away after having determined that Penny was just fine and that it would be more prudent to get those two away.

Penny gave a small smile as she watched them leave, before turning her attention to the beings ahead of her with an uncharacteristically grim expression. She would hold... she would kill all the Grimm if she had to… She would not let them get any further ahead to honour the risk taken by her friend…

-Break—

Wayle grimaced slightly as he looked out over the city from his new vantage point. The Grimm had breached through the city's defences, and were now flooding into the city, slowly covering the streets in a black carpet.

They were being held back… for now, but as long as more kept pouring in there were little hope to keep them out… and there were more Goliaths out there as well.

He had no idea what exactly had led to this situation, but he really didn't like it one bit.

Maybe if they could seal the breach they could still pull through… but the more time wasted on the Grimm, the more likely that Cinder and her bunch got away. Save the city or stop the villain…

His musings were interrupted when Ruby received a call on her scroll. Answering she was surprised to find that it was General Ironwood… and he was not looking too happy, although it was hard to blame him, seeing as he was fighting both the White Fang, his own droid forces as well as the Grimm…

"Ruby Rose, I need to ask a favour… Is Wayle Tyran there?" He asked in a tired, resigned voice.

"Umm… he is but… wouldn't it just have been faster to message him directly?" Ruby hesitantly questioned the general.

"It would have been… if he would answer his scroll that is." He looked kind of annoyed… Wayle couldn't remember his scroll having received any calls… Picking up said object, he observed it for a few moments.

It wasn't working. As a matter of fact, it seemed to have been broken at some point… Brilliant.

"Forgive me General, it seems that my Scroll broke at some point, and I only just realised." Wayle spoke up, entering the general's field of vision. "Although I must ask how you knew I was here…"

"Latune was just recovered from the front lines." The general said gravely. "Don't worry, she is just fine, only unconscious. But, seeing as she was supposed to be away alongside you, it stood to reason to expect that you were here as well…"

"I see… A reasonable line of thought. And? Why did you want to speak to me?" Wayle asked in a business-like tone.

"Gly- Professor Goodwitch told me about your capabilities, and right now we need that kind of power…" The general sighed. "Can you clear out the Grimm to such an extent that the breach can be reached? As long as we can reach that we can contain the situation… The White Fang has been dealt with or have all fled, and we have managed to shut the Knights down…" The expression on his face was serious, the face of someone who really didn't want to resort to this.

Wayle considered things… It would take far too long to perform that task normally… He winced slightly as a method came to him unbidden… He really didn't want to resort to such means…

"I… might have an idea… But I can't avoid collateral damage with that method…" Wayle said hesitantly.

The general nodded gravely. "No matter, we will help with the reconstruction efforts… as long as there is a city to rebuild that is…"

The general's meaning was not lost on Wayle. What was more important here was that the city itself continued being… and that meant that the people were more important.

Wayle steeled himself with a grimace. "Clear out all people in a direct line in front of the breach… This might be slightly risky." Wayle gave a quick instruction and leapt away without even waiting for confirmation.

He had already wasted enough time as it was. He no longer had the luxury of hesitation… Even if it meant taking a great risk…

He stopped on top of a roof just a street away from the Grimm, watching as the people in front of him started hightailing it out of there.

He focused, making sure that there were no people left in the line of fire. Once he had confirmed this he opened himself further, tapping deeper into the Force than he had done in a long time… squashing the fear he felt deep inside he drew upon the Dark Side, both that within… and that without, using Sorcery to draw in more than normally possible.

It was a heady feeling, the rush of power that flowed through him… it might even be able to match the tombs of Korriban right now… There was several similarities between the Grimm and the Dark Side, and right now, through him, the Grimm were actually fuelling the Dark Side.

He struggled to keep himself in check as the power intoxicated him, desiring to be set loose… Every drop of his self-discipline was being put into restraining himself as the power crackled about him in the form of great arcs of electricity.

As one the Grimm halted to stare at him, their nature drawing them towards his power. That was fine, that just meant more of them would get into his way. A dark grin crept onto his face as his eyes flared an unnatural golden colour.

Then he unleashed the power, lightning arcing out in front of him, incinerating all things in its path. Pavement melted, glass shattered and Grimm burned to cinders as the energy rushed forward, leaving nothing but molten slag and twisted metal behind.

A Goliath took it on head on, trying to break through and get to him. It lasted for a few seconds, enduring having its flesh seared away before even its mighty bulk gave in and it fell.

As it reached the wall Wayle had to reign himself in, a feat of considerable willpower, to avoid melting away the wall as well, instead slowly reducing the output and directing it through the breach itself, driving away the Grimm outside for a short while.

As the lightning finally died away a wasteland was revealed as Wayle struggled to calm down.

Quite frankly he really wanted to indulge in his darker desires right now, but he pushed that down. It really wouldn't do right now…

He still had business to take care of…

-Break—

Cinder and Roman could only stare wide eyed at the electric arcs that was turning an entire city district, and hundreds of Grimm, into a wasteland.

Their escape plans had been interrupted when Blake Belladonna and Glynda Goodwitch had managed to find them, and they had been having a standoff on the rooftops for a short time.

Until they had felt that power, and that spectacle had occurred. Even Cinder could barely hold her terror in check, and Glynda was being uncharacteristically terrified. None of them even dared move, even for several seconds after it died down their bodies remained frozen.

Then Neo started moving, heading straight for Blake. But she was intercepted by Yang and was forced to dodge a vicious hook. At the same time Ruby tried to strike down Roman only to be intercepted by Emerald.

And when Nora then tried to get in a good hit with her hammer she was met with a kick from Mercury, who had suddenly shown up after doing god knows what. Finally, Ren had been pre-emptively stopped by Adam suddenly showing up again.

Recovering from the sudden explosion of action, Blake immediately set out to secure the masterminds, Cinder and Roman. Roman quickly leapt to action as well, his cane rising to block her sword.

Finally, the last two unengaged people turned towards each other, their clothes starting to billow as runes lit up, purple ones in front of Glynda and fiery yellow ones on Cinder's dress. Flames billowed forth as purple rays rushed to meet them, the two using their unusual powers in an attempt to take out the other.

And so the melee started, Ruby twirling her scythe to block Emerald's shots, Yang trying to box Neo down with various feints and jabs, Mercury deftly kicking Nora's hammer away from him, Ren evading Adam's slashes while trying to land a hit and Blake's sword and cleaver being smartly deflected by Roman's cane.

And it was into this that a familiar voice resounded…

-Break—

Wayle was somewhat amused to see the melee unfold, one on one, everyone with an opponent each.

Of course he really wasn't in the mood any longer, after all that had happened he had become somewhat tired, and now he only wanted to end this farce…

So he spoke up in a slightly annoyed tone. "Seems like your plan didn't quite work out, Cinder Fall. This ends now."

Cinder's head snapped towards him, eyes widening in shock. "Wh… when… how… you… You're not supposed to be here! What happened to the agents sent to keep you!?" She fumed, her calm demeanour wrecked after the current events.

"They failed, I finished my 'mission' and returned the moment we became unable to contact Vale." He chuckled, looking down upon his foe, his fellow manipulator.

She might have been good, but nowhere near good enough to match the Sith. Wayle had been forced to be sly and ruthless or he would have died.

A spear of flames shot towards him, Cinder having decided to attempt to take him out there and then. He simply batted it away with his sword, his barrier stopping the explosion it caused from harming him.

From another side Adam's sword came slicing, Wayle swiftly spinning around and parrying it before sending its owner into the roof underneath crashing into it with a painful gasp.

When it seemed like Neo would hightail it out of there he hit her with a burst of kinetic energy, knocking the air out of her lungs and sending her flying, smashing harshly into a chimney.

As this happened Mercury was hit painfully by a palm strike from Ren, while Emerald suffered from being hit by Yang's fist with a shout of: "YOU BITCH!"

It seems Yang was actually pissed off at her for what she did to Ruby… or at least tried to do.

That left only Cinder and Roman still standing, looking everything but happy right there and then, surrounded and with no way out…

"Seems like this is the end… Cinder. Will you surrender… or will I have to subdue you?" Wayle said coldly with a dark smirk that sent shivers down the other's spines.

Cinder's eyes flitted about, desperately seeking a way out of her current predicament. Of course, Wayle wouldn't let her do anything.

"You know Wayle, I've been thinking… this really seems the perfect time to get in your way." And then a voice that Wayle would rather not hear rang out…

Author's notes: This might have been slightly rushed... But oh well, hopefully next chapter will be epic enough to weigh up for this one. Tell me what you think and feel free to leave suggestions.

On another note, I would like to point out that I have started a new story on , probably most easily found through my profile. Really though, I didn't quite appreciate just how bad of a difference obscurity makes... But do feel free to check it out, it would be appreciated.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed and that you have a nice day.
