As it turned out, Force Cloak was a fantastic power for when you didn't want to be seen.

Well, Latune had known for quite some time, but this was the first time she used it properly herself, otherwise only having seen her Master use it.

And even knowing where he was, she had been hard pressed to notice his presence. She had even jumped a few times when he suddenly reappeared, especially if that was somewhere other than where he had disappeared to begin with.

He had been annoyed by this and had finally taught her how to see through it, allowing her to keep track of him, which was helpful when she was supposed to be following him.

As for why she was using it right now? Well, she was… observing… the things happening around Beacon and in Vale. So far the only people that had even partially noticed her was the Faunus… although Blake had actually almost caught her.

Look, she didn't want people to know she was spying on others. It was perfectly reasonable, if they knew she was spying then they might get suspicious… aaand she just admitted to spying on people. Brilliant.

Suddenly she spotted a familiar golden yellow, and focusing on it showed it to be Yang.

Who seemed to be looking for something… She also looked kind of agitated…

Huh. That was kind of a rare sight.

She shifted her attention elsewhere, it wasn't like Yang was of particular interest… although it might be worth observing her a little, she did have connections in less than savoury locations after all.

Only to find herself staring into one pink and one brown eye widening in surprise.

Her first thought was that the person before her actually managed to be shorter than even Nora, who was otherwise the shortest person she knew. Her next thought was that she knew the person.

Neopolitan, henchwoman of Roman Torchwick… and an enemy last time she checked.

And judging by all things, she saw her, although considering if one of them fell forward they might accidentally kiss… well, one would be more surprised if she didn't.

Latune also remembered that her Master had told her that the diminutive woman had seen through his Cloak, so she should most certainly be able to see her right now.

Latune lashed out with her foot, forcing the smaller woman to duck before being forced away by a quick follow up.

She almost looked like she didn't want to fight, although neither did Latune really… well, most of her didn't, the Dark Side would gladly see her get into a fight for no apparent reason.

But Latune wouldn't leave Neo alone. She was part of an opposing faction, and capturing her might prove invaluable.

So she closed the distance, lashing out with her fists, but she found herself gracefully dodged, the tiny pink and brown-haired woman spinning away before retaliating with her parasol.

Latune in response forced the object upward with a graceful sweep of her arm before moving in with surprising speed with an elbow strike.

But Neo danced around the blow, rolling with her block and around her, launching a roundhouse kick as she did so.

Latune saw this and did a fine flip above the oncoming leg and below the parasol still held high, landing with grace and launching a palm strike at her opponent's exposed midsection.

And yet that was evaded with a backwards cartwheel, with a booted foot trying to punish her for her transgression.

It didn't connect as Latune sidestepped and grabbed a hold of it, throwing her opponent with all her might.

It worked, kind of. Neo flew slightly awkwardly, but managed to find a good position and simply rolled along the rooftop they were on.

Their exchange had lasted but a minute, and no one had yet to notice as neither of them had done anything flashy.

Neo's usually smug smirk seemed somewhat forced to Latune, and she could see that her opponent was actually shocked at the current development.

It also seemed like they had both come to the same conclusion. They would never get anywhere like this.

Latune dashed forth, faster, harder than before. She was upon her opponent in a matter of moments. Yet when she struck out she was rewarded with the sound of shattering glass as Neo's illusion shattered.

She rolled forward to avoid the swiping parasol and then spun as she got out of it, electricity arcing from her outstretched fingers.

Yet it was stopped by her opponent's parasol that opened up, taking the crackling power and stopping it.

Latune moved again, her form blurring as she flew forth, a snaking fist bypassing the open parasol and encroaching upon her opponent's sternum.

Yet it was deflected as Latune found herself temporarily airborne. But she caught her fall with a cartwheel and stood just in time to catch a fist aimed at her head.

She switched her grip to the wrist and pulled, lashing out with her knee as she did so. Even so Neo somehow managed to spin over her, throwing her again.

Or trying to at least. Instead of being thrown Latune gracefully flipped over, landing on her feet with her grip intact.

And the first landed blow of the fight was a double hit as Neo's knee connected with Latune's stomach and Latune's fist connected with Neo's sternum.

They both staggered backwards, reeling slightly from the hits. But they quickly recovered and tried to land another blow on one another.

Yet they both evaded each other's attacks, and instead found themselves crashing into the other, causing them both to fall over in a tangle of limbs.

This also prompted the previous slightly forced smirk to disappear, exchanged for an embarrassed look that was absolutely adorable.

Of course, Latune was also incredibly embarrassed, and she would really have preferred to be completely straight right about now, because this really did excite her in ways she didn't want to consider.

She tried to separate herself from the incredibly petite woman, and right now she had no doubt about the womanhood of the person before her, but found it really difficult as her opponent hadn't really done anything just yet.

As Latune struggled Neo's expression changed from one of embarrassment to one of mischief as she instead of trying to disentangle herself instead pulled closer.

Latune's thought processes ground to a halt as their lips suddenly met, the multiple hair coloured woman pressing her body against hers, lips grinding against hers, prying her mouth open so as to allow the tongue to find its way in.

This fierce embrace lasted for what seemed to Latune an eternity, but what was presumably much shorter, and left the younger girl gasping for breath as Neo gracefully removed herself from their entanglement and left with a smug smile that kind of infuriated Latune.

Then the realisation that she had gotten away struck her. And so an unfortunate red and white couple had their day interrupted by a flying piece of roof…

In another part of town a golden blonde bombshell of a gal shuddered for no apparent reason, as if a predator beyond even her had set its sights on her.

"What's that?" Ruby asked Blake who was holding some kind of book and looking at it intently.

"A… journal I think." The raven haired girl answered.

"Really? I don't recognise it… Whose is it?" The excitable girl curiously continued.

"Wayle's… He left it here when he left…" Was the uncertain answer.

"Huh… Think he forgot it?" Weiss pondered as she looked up from her homework.

"Probably…" Ruby considered. "Should we open it?"

"Is that wise? Actually, is that even possible?" Came the princess's reply.

Blake's response was to carefully crack it open.

What they saw was a whole bunch of different notes, some had various sketches accompanying them, others were simple walls of pure text. In a writing they couldn't understand…

The letters used were sharp, lots of straight lines, with hooks and barbs interspersed in various places. It was obviously not any script from their world.

One thing they noted about it was that the first third seemed to be different from the rest, containing what seemed to be notes on various rituals, creatures and locations beyond their imagination and a myriad of symbols that seemed almost arcane in nature.

The rest seemed more to be notes on remnant itself, presumably on Grimm, Dust and Aura. There was also sketches detailing some of the weapons he had seen, including what they could only assume was musings on various points of their functions. There was also a neat and almost perfect sketch of Weiss' glyph.

So basically they had found what could only be described as Wayle's personal research journal, with notes about things he needed to keep in mind… they assumed anyway. It could be anything really, but that was the possibility that best lined up with what they knew of him.

What did puzzle them slightly was the fact that they had never really seen him write in it. Maybe once or twice if they tried really hard.

It could just be that he wanted to be alone while jotting down the things he had learned.

They could actually kind of sympathise with that. It actually made them wonder what else he had around there. A thought that was cut short by the sudden and abrupt reminder that it was about time for dinner that was their stomachs growling…

So they unanimously decided that it might be for the best that they left the thing alone and instead grabbed some food.

Because really, they didn't want to piss Wayle off if they could help it, he was a nice guy sure, but he was also terrifying when angered.

Just ask Cardin… He was apparently so scared shitless of Wayle nowadays that he refused to take any chances when avoiding making him angry. He had even stopped bullying, as incredible as that sounded.

-Break—

It was supposed to have been easy!

All they had needed to do was break into an old abandoned warehouse and retrieve some left over plans…

And yet it had all gone wrong. Their first indication that something was wrong was when the plans were gone.

Then, when they had spread out to search more effectively… They had started losing men… Now it was only him and a handful of agents left.

They were slowly moving towards the exit, doing their damn best covering each other's backs.

A meaty impact resounded, and a terrified shout soon followed. Turning around against his better knowledge, he found one of their members with a metal pole straight through her head.

A sickening crunch was their only warning that another of their number had been killed, his neck twisted beyond normal limits.

Only two left…

Suddenly one of the dead agent's weapons kicked off, somehow managing to hit one of them in the face. He died instantly.

Only one other left…

His eyes frantically darted about trying to locate their unseen assailant.

With a terrified shout his last fellow agent ran off into the darkness.

A loud bang and a flash told him that he had set off a trap.

He heard footsteps and spun around lashing out wildly with his sword.

He hit nothing. But something hit him, sending him flying into a pillar. He impacted heavily with a painful gasp.

The last thing his dazed mind saw was a dark-violet light humming into life, causing the shadows before him to roil.

"I suppose it was a good thing I checked this place out…" A cute voice echoed in the darkness. "Too bad for you guys though…"

Author's notes: Well, that was weird. Still, I hope you liked it. Me, I'm not entirely sure. I do hope that you felt it was a worthwhile addition to the story, although if you feel I did something wrong tell me, so that I might consider it.

I hope you enjoyed and that you have a nice day.
