Chapter 17

PERCY POV

"I need a council of the gods" I had told Aphrodite.

"You know that they will be angered by this. Gods do not appreciate the returning of gifts; especially immortality" she warned me.

To hell with what they think, I thought, and here I am, outside the grand doors of the throne room trying not to get overwhelmed with my nervousness. I calculated my chance of survival and as expected, none of them were particularly good. There was about fort per cent chance that they would burn me to ashes, twenty per cent chance that they would turn me into a hag, and fifty per cent chance of completely ignoring me; the odds were definitely not in my favour today.

Way to go, Jackson, my subconsciousness mocked me. I rolled my eyes and continued pacing back and forth outside the doors.

"Percy Jackson" a voice greeted me. I turned around, only to find a blonde dude looking down at me.

"Apollo?" I asked, unsure why the sun god is outside the throne room when all of them were inside.

"They don't mind" he said, as if reading my mind. "So you have made your decision, I see. If it wise or unwise, I cannot tell, but you must do what your heart tells you to." he mused. I began to panic. How could he know?

"There's a reason I'm the god of prophecy, Percy. I see the future but I can do little to change it."

"Did you tell anyone?" I don't give a damn about prophecies and future, I just don't want this guy to go spreading this news to everyone. Especially my dad. He just rolled his eyes and said,

"Why would I go and, ah, spread the news to the gods? I foresaw all this: you becoming the heir of Poseidon, blah blah and if there's one thing I can tell you, he will not be pleased" he said, smiling as if this is great news. "You're his favourite."

"Of course I am" I muttered under my breath, and if he heard it, he doesn't say anything.

"You've played into her hands, Percy Jackson. Into the hands of Aphrodite. She wants to cause as much drama as she can."

"But I've been writing my story" I counter.

"I did not say anything about your story. She may have not interfered, but she did accomplish her goal. Why else would she have asked you to date Rachel?" he smiled, tilting his head sideways, demanding an answer. I want to tell him to piss off but I don't want to get into his bad side; I'm just minutes away from being a demigod again.

"You have played a dangerous game, Perseus Jackson. If you have won or lost, that is yet to be seen" with those words, he vanished in a flash of light.

"Percy Jackson!" Zeus boomed, and I wished I took a little more time to take a decision.

The gods did not look happy. Ares impatiently sharpened his dagger and Hephaestus crafted something that looked like the Archimedes death ray within seconds, but he looked every bit ill-tempered.

"You have summoned a council of the gods" he eyed me with something that could either be grudging admiration or sheer suspicion.

"Uh, so...where do I begin? You see..." I began and told them my wish. The room suddenly fell silent as a stone and I had to make sure they were seated here and immediately regretted it. Zeus and Athena were glaring daggers at me, unsurprisingly, and Apollo's expression was neutral, though he seemed to be suppressing a small smile.

"Hmmm" was all Ares said, and stared thoughtfully into space, probably imagining all the ways he could gut me like a fish. My blood sizzled but I forced the vehemence down. I will not lose my temper. And lastly, I looked up at Poseidon, not sure what I wanted to see in his eyes. Happiness? I forced myself to meet his gaze and he was frowning ever so slightly, but otherwise, he remained silent.

"You want us to turn you mortal" Zeus said, emphasising each word like he couldn't believe I was asking this after I was granted immortality.

"Boy's got a point" Apollo spoke up and I was surprised to know he took my side. "He's got a life to live so" he shrugged. "It's his choice."

There was argument among the gods. Many were backing Zeus, but Apollo, Hera, Aphrodite, Demeter, Hermes, and Dionysus vouched for me. I was intrigued why Dionysus chose my side but his eyes told me everything. I'm not supporting you, Peter Johnsonn. You will do better as a mortal.

Ares switched sides, once he figured that mortal Percy Jackson was more vulnerable than the immortal Percy Jackson.

"He better be mortal so I can use him as a personal punching bag" he said and backed me (-_-).

"Silence!" Zeus thundered and that shut everyone up.

"You have majority" he said grimly and I'm grateful. Grateful that all of this is finally going to be over. He raised his master bolt, preparing to take away my immortality and I closed my eyes and let out one last godly breath before I was mortal. Again.

Sorry for the short chappy! I just realised I have got class rn, so I had to hurry up :). There will be one last chapter for this story and I hope y'all liked it :) Im planning to write another one but I have no idea which one to write first bc I have 3 ideas waiting to be written. One is a Percabeth story where Annabeth is a ruthless warrior who wants her freedom and then she runs away, meets Percy and stuff happen. Another one is a Hunger Games/Percy Jackson crossover where a bunch of demigods are thrown into the arena, and three is basically set in the future where Percy is a criminal and he is to be executed by our dear Annabeth and a lot of shit happens. Idk what to write so you can PM me with your suggestion and by the end of next week, I'll let you know what I will be writing, so better put me on Author Alert! So until tomorrow!
