Memories…..The Memories come and they go. I still remember my Games exactly, they pain, the sorrow, the cries, the cannons, the murders happening before my eyes, EVERYTHING. I know what you all think, your just a child, you don't know know what little changes can change your whole life...forever…." Coal says.
Its been 3 years since he won, he has returned once again to the same Interview Stage with Caesar Flickerman, the last time he was here was with 24 tributes, at the time of his last arrival, he was only 12 and had no hope in winning the Games, he was scared for his life. He looks at the audience, fiddling with his hands and outfit.
"I know this may be hard for you young man, but would you tell us your story during your Games." Caesar says, trying to not make Coal upset.
Despite how much Coal wanted to say no, he knew shouldn't keep the pain in him forever. He took a deep sigh, and looks at the audience, sadness in his eyes, he would close his eyes, trying to remember what happened. As he though he would start telling his story.
Another day in District 12, same coal-liked smell, and quiet day. Coal was at school. It was lunch time, he was sitting at the table with his friends talking about the 30th Annual Hunger Games Reaping. It was tomorrow, and it was the biggest day for District 12, but not in a good way. Everyone knew that District 12 hasn't had a Victor ever, and most of the tributes don't make it 2 days. They lost hope too soon, and weren't able to support any of the Tributes.
"So Coal what do you think is gonna happen at the Reaping these games?" Tyler says.
Coal looked up at him with an annoyed look, shouldn't Tyler already know.
"Tyler, same as it has been for 30 years- You should know that-" Coal says simply with a sigh.
Tyler rolled his eyes and nods his head, but little did he know something different will happen this year, Coal would be volunteering, the 1st ever in District 12. It all started when his mother got sick with Cancer, Coal didn't want her to die since his dad has already died when he was only 4 years old, He couldn't imagine what it would be like having no mom, and dad. He swore that he would do anything to help her, the prize money of the Games can help his mother survive, despite not wanting to do so, there was no other way. Coal would stare off in the distance, imagining what would his Games be like, he saw his dying horribly, once he broke out of the daydream he screamed, The Students around him would laugh at Coal, including his friends. Coal eventually got up and left school. Tyler ran after him, trying to get him to come back.
"Coal, you can't leave- We are still in school." Tyler insists him to come back.
Coal turned around annoyed as fuck, Tyler was not helping his stress, he needed a break from him.
'Tyler, I have a lot on my mind, just leave me alone!" He yelled with anger in his tone.
Tyler frowned and says before leaving.
"Fine dick-" He says ignoring him as he ran away.
Coal couldn't give a fuck about Tyler, Volunteering was more important right now then Tyler, school, or anything. As Coal arrives at his home he would walk to his room, putting his backpack up, changing into comfortable clothing, and doing his daily chores. His chores was helping the Miners, in the next 5 years Coal would be joining the Miners, and he was scared as fuck about that, every year an exploson happened, and he didn't want to end up dead like his father, that was another reason why he was volunteering.
"Shit- I'm gonna be late for dinner-" Coal says looking at his watch as he finishes all his chores. He would run home, for dinner. As he ran home, Coal mother was in her room, sleeping. Ever since his mom was sick she couldn't cook, which became Coals job to cook since then. Coal would turn on the oven, starting to cook, he would be making some chicken and some rice, which is the only food they have nowadays. As he finishes he puts to food on the table and walks to his room.
"Mom dinners ready!" He yelled and laid down on his bed, He was tired already, he looked up, closing his eyes, falling fast asleep before he knew it. He sure was stressed and tired, hopefully resting would help him out tomorrow, probably not though.
