He smirked as he observed the facility nestled deep into the forest. The guard was lighter than usual, a lot of fighting strength having been redeployed to deal with other problems.
They thought the facility was safe, that no one knew about its existence or purpose.
It was time to give them a rude awakening.
He raised and brought down his hand in a chopping motion.
In response several figures moved, approaching the facility agilely and stealthily. They would take the guards out, and then they would steal the goodies inside.
He moved in as well, following the Faunus of the White Fang as they performed their tasks.
He easily made it into the perimeter, the outer defences already taken care of.
All that remained was to enter the facility proper.
He quickly and deftly cracked the door lock, causing it to slide open. Cautiously moving in, he found, to his mild surprise, no one.
He would have expected at least one guard after all.
Moving quickly he led a group towards the hangars were the Paladins were stored.
They only met token resistance, and soon arrived at their destination. Once there his group swiftly made sure the mechanics and engineers wouldn't cause trouble.
With that, all that remained was to get the prizes and leaving before reinforcements could arrive.
He activated his communications earpiece.
"We've got the prize." He said confidently.
Static was his only response.
"Hey, do you hear me?!" He raised his voice in annoyance.
Nothing.
"Hey! Can any of you guys-"He started shouting to his team.
He stopped as he saw the nearest member fall over, a Faunus with an unidentified uniform standing behind him.
It was dark, well suited for stealth, with only light armouring to make it lighter and easier to move in.
The kind of thing you would see on a scout.
"Mercury. Fancy seeing you here." A sweet voice echoed in the hangar.
He looked around, trying to find the source.
The sound of feet hitting metal caused him to look up towards the furthest Paladin, the one that was supposedly the prototype…
And atop it stood a short girl with light-purple hair. A girl that shouldn't be there. A girl that should still have been in Beacon last he heard anything about it.
He paled as he recognized the Faunus next to her.
Not because he knew her personally, but because she used to be a talented scout and spy in the White Fang. One that had volunteered to preoccupy Wayle Tyran… and failed.
The words of a certain criminal mastermind came to him unbidden.
'I mean, that this reeks of treachery…'
"Shit." That was all he could say before a strong strike from behind knocked him out, the last image he saw being that sweet smile on Latune Subbota's face.

General James Ironwood shook as he read the report.
He had already been planning to strengthen the guard there, after some idiot (that wasn't him) decided that it would be a great idea to pull troops from the secret facility…
Secret or not, it wouldn't exactly have taken a genius to figure it out, and the White Fang had several times already shown a good amount of knowledge about their inner workings.
And now it had been raided, the Paladins stolen, including the prototype that only a few people in Remnant should be able to actually use. As in, only a few people should have had the knowledge about how to open the cockpit hatch and activate the thing.
And none of them should have been there at the time.
He rubbed his head as he drained a glass of whiskey. This was going to be a long day…

Yang was seated in her bed with a book half-haphazardly left open next to her as she stared at her notebook while chewing her pen.
Over at the desk Ruby and Weiss were working on their homework as well, all the while the radio was on.
She only half listened as the news were being parroted for the umpteenth time that day while she futilely tried to make head or tails of the mathematical equations they were forced to figure out, because it was 'important'.
She felt like screaming in frustration and throwing the book away, and almost did, except for that all her thought-processes stopped as she heard a certain piece of news…
"In other news, the notorious criminal Roman Torchwick was found dead after an anonymous tip lead to what is believed to have been his hideout. The exact cause of death is being investigated, but murder is strongly suspected. More as information becomes available."
The pen dropped out of her mouth as she stared slack-jawed at the deliverer of these news.
She heard shifting of chairs informing her that her other two room-mates also reacted to them.
"THE SHIT?!" She finally burst out.
She hadn't expected one of the most slippery bastards out there to just die like that…
Which made her wonder what had actually happened.
Her head snapped towards the door as it opened, revealing Wayle entering slowly with a somewhat bothered expression.
"Wayle! Did you hear the news?!" She practically pounced on him, grabbing a hold of his collar and shaking him.
"What? What happened?" Was the bewildered youth's response.
"Roman's dead!" She shouted.
She saw his surprise, which was suddenly replaced by a kind of… 'Oops' kind of expression before quickly turning neutral.
"That was… unexpected…" Was the response she finally got, although she was certain she could feel that he thought it shouldn't have been.
She felt like she should pry, but at the same time she felt like she didn't want to hear it…
No, he probably only thought it was just to be expected for someone like that.
"Well, shocking as it is, it is only to be expected in the case of such a man. He probably made a mistake and got killed by a rival." Weiss snorted. She didn't really like the man.
Maybe because he had called her 'Ice Queen'?
"Well, see it from the bright side, that's one less terrible person to deal with in this world…" Wayle added hesitantly. "Also, could you please let go Yang… it's starting to get a bit uncomfortable."
She quickly let go, gracing everyone present with an indignant blush of embarrassment at her behaviour.
She may be a rough gal who enjoys life, but even she would get embarrassed at such uncontrolled behaviour… especially when it is because of confusion.
Not to mention she practically just assaulted one of the most powerful people around…
She's just really glad the guy's got really good self-control, and that he likes her, or she might have gotten hurt…
"It just doesn't sit right with me…" Ruby said softly. "Even if he was a bad guy… It feels bad that he died…" The young team-leader had a sad look that made people want to comfort her.
Which Weiss, being seated right next to her, was quick to do, hugging the girl tightly.
"That's just the way of things sometimes Ruby…" She said solemnly, patting her partners head. "Sometimes we just don't have any other choice than to accept it…"
The two remained like so for a prolonged period of time, and Wayle cautiously exited the room again.
Yang decided to follow, as she felt like she should leave them alone. Her sister would probably cheer up after spending some quality time with her girlfriend.
Even if neither of them would admit it if asked…
The buxom blonde wondered how many people would just fall over if they found out.
The thought caused her to giggle slightly.
Looking ahead she saw Wayle walking, looking at his scroll.
She felt like he was somewhat perplexed, and possibly even a bit annoyed, so she decided to leave him alone for the time being.
As she wandered down the hall she felt a shiver run down her spine, and a presence suddenly appear behind her.
Before she could even think about reacting, a pair of slender arms wrapped around her neck as a small weight settled over her back, clinging to her.
In her peripheral vision she saw a tuft of pink hair, and her heart sank like a rock.

Wayle looked at the report he had received.
On the upside, Latune had carried out his orders flawlessly, even capturing most of the White Fang members participating, as well as Mercury.
While Wayle doubted that the capture of the teen would affect Cinder's plans much at all, it should still have put a thorn in its side, especially with the loss of Roman…
What caused him to frown though was that Latune had seen fit to steal the Paladins, including bringing the prototype with her.
While he hadn't told her not to steal any Paladins, he also didn't tell her to do so.
Well, he had left the operation in her hands, and he suspected she might bring a souvenir.
Just not that many.
At least it bolstered their forces, the addition of even a small number of Paladins being significant, as they could allow otherwise ineffective individuals to provide a large amount of fighting potential against the Grimm, something he would not dismiss.
Closing the report he looked out a window in the hallway. All in all things were proceeding well, but eventually cases like this were people do what they think is best based on what he has said would become more common, and sooner or later someone will do something he didn't actually want them to do at all…
He would have to keep a close eye on things for as long as he could, but it would most certainly not be easy…
Not to mention Roman suddenly dying…
He wasn't sure what he had expected… Really, he should have known that telling someone as psychopathic as Neopolitan to become angry if Roman Torchwick mentioned stealing in such a manner as to imply that he would carry out the act…
Yeah, he could as well just have told her to go kill him.
On the upside, it would be more difficult for her to figure out what was wrong like this, while if he had actually told her to go kill him, she might have questioned why she would have gone to do so specifically.
Incidentally it was he who had left that tip. He was planning to let the police have a chance at him, and then the White Fang if what he had seen from Neo was true.
He was startled out of his musings by a person passing him.
What startled him was the fact that someone had gotten that close without him noticing… Even if there was no hostility…
He shook his head as he looked out again, just in time to see a tiny pink and brown haired woman dance away with surprising speed, all the while smiling at the enraged blonde chasing her and trying to shoot her.
Another he should have known was there…
He focused for a bit.
And suddenly he was dancing off, avoiding a blast from Ember Celica with a skip, a mocking grin plastered on her lips.
He withdrew back to himself.
That still worked perfectly.
Although he did find himself with a luminous blush on his face as he recalled her emotions and thoughts…
Poor Yang, she might just need help at this rate, or he feared for her sanity… and other aspects of her…
He shook his head as he shifted a small pebble lying on the window sill for some reason. Instead of just rolling off as he intended, it instead flew off violently. Was he just really distracted today…?
Or was it something else?
Author's notes: Okay, I don't know, was this a good chapter or a bad chapter? Please do tell. Reviews are nice after all. And while you're at it, feel free to tell me about any mistakes you see, it would be appreciated, as I am trying to become a better writer. And if you have any suggestions... even better!
While I'm at it, I feel like saying this to those who read this and also write; About "your" and you're", your indicated ownership, for example: This is your book, while you're is a shortened version of you are, so if you wonder which one you should use, try switching it with you are, if it sounds completely wrong, then it's probably not "you're" you're supposed to use. Don't know, works for me at least.
I hope you enjoyed and that you have a nice day.
