AU story, set between s4 and s5. English isn't my native tongue but I do my best, and I hope you'll enjoy this fiction, because let's say it, there is definitely not enough Tom/Sasha stories!
Their days on the ship weren't exactly like they expected them to be. There was still a mission on, war wasn't over, but they still had some moments to show each other love, even with basic actions everyday, a prepared cup of coffee - with each other preferences-in the morning, some nice words, a stolen look around corners. But there was something they both didn't expect at all.
Sasha was pregnant. They'd slept together on the way back to the Med and didn't bothered to get covered. It happened more than once, but as soon as they learned it, they both knew it was a conceived child of love. They never stopped loving and caring about each other. After all this time, and even after all they'd been through.
This day was supposed to be like every other days. But nothing happened like it was supposed to happens. She'd sneaked into his cabin late at night, unable to find sleep, and even if she didn't tell him, she was feeling sore and uncomfortable. The baby that was growing inside of her belly was taking more place everyday, and her job wasn't really fit for a pregnant woman. Although she'd tried to make it as normal as possible, she'd noticed that some stuff had become very hard to do. She wanted to stay forever this badass agent, but it wasn't apparently compatible with pregnancy. Just like the words pregnancy and warship.
"Hey what's on your mind?" he whispered, his voice being raspy and still groggy from sleep. She didn't notice he was awake. Both of his hand stroked gently her bump, Sasha knew how much Tom loved this kind of moments. Even though it was against the rules; they both knew it wasn't really allowed but being high ranked on this ship offered some privileges.
"Nothing Tom, nothing..."
That was obviously a lie. But she didn't want to tell him that she wasn't feeling that well today. He would freak out, get scared and be unprofessional all day. He would impose her to stay and rest in his cabin all day, would put 2 sailors in front of the door just to be provide her what she needed and make sure she was safe, and wouldn't be able to focus on his duties. No, that was definitely not a good idea and she knew she was able to handle it all by herself. At least that's what she thought.
He stood up on one elbow and forced her to look at him by rising her chin. "Babe talk to me" his voice ton was serious. "What's going o-.." he interrupted himself, feeling his child kick in his girlfriend's womb. « Seems like someone is an early bird after all"
She nodded and took a deep breath, she didn't want to tell him that the kicks weren't cute but so painful recently and the reason why she couldn't sleep by herself in her cabin. Making him worried over her and the baby's health was the last thing she wanted. After all, she managed the same situation few years ago. The only difference was that their child didn't survive the first trimester. He locked his eyes into hers, wanting to know what was going on.
"Please Sasha, if we have to stay here for hours it's not a problem, Mike can have my watch. So stop being stubborn and tell me what's bothering you." He knew her too well, she was an open book for him, so was he for her. After all those years and still now. "Please"
"Baby is kicking, and it's not really comfortable. That is all, don't worry please" she finally said, her voice kinda raspy. He raised an eyebrow, knowing she wasn't telling everything. Nodding his head, he silently asked her to continue. She had no more choices and swallowed hard before speaking again. "Well, I huh...being pregnant on a ship isn't really what I expected but don't worry we'll be fine."
She just hoped he would go over it and not worry too much. He had been through this adventure two times before, so she knew he was able to handle kids. More than her at least, that was all new, and she'd always put her career before everything. Now she was responsible for this tiny life inside of her and that was sometimes a lot of pression.
"You should ask Rios for a checking."
His voice was firm, sign that he didn't want her to discuss. She turned and looked at him, very seriously, what she was worrying about was happening and it wasn't good. Especially today. They had a planned mission on the field and she absolutely wanted to be part of it. Even though she had some doubts about it, being on the field was dangerous and none of Tom or Mike would allow her to go. So at least she hoped she could stay on the bridge to handle the operations, she needed to feel useful. Otherwise her life had no sense. She loved Tom as much as he loved her, but she loved her job too and she couldn't stop it that suddenly.
"Please Tom I'm fine, it's nothing alright ? Remember ? Sasha knows best. If I notice something weird, I promise I'll go see him. Deal ?" She softly smiled, slowly getting on top of him, offering him a wonderful view. Her body had change but was still so desirable and beautiful to his eyes. And to be honest, she didn't gain that much weight, she didn't even look like a 6 months and half pregnant woman.
"I just don't wanna loose you, love. Just like our child. So please be careful. I love you both so much." He whispered, his face closer to hers, approaching his lips so they could kiss and finally enjoy their morning.
"I love you too..." she said, losing herself in this loving kiss, sliding her hands under shirt. "Show me how much you love me" she pleaded, burning, desperately needing him, feeling the desire invading all of her body. He didn't need to be asked twice, and slowly turned her to pin her back to the small mattress.
"Whatever you desire Mrs Cooper." He answered, softly caressing her breast, her stomach, kissing her lips, then her jawline, slowly exploring every part of this wonderful body of hers. And he was about to make love to her when they both heard a knock at the door.
"If you two wants to have breakfast you better should hurry up, sailors sadly don't do room service, and we have an important meeting in the wardroom in 15" mike's voice said through the door. And they both could hear how amused he was of the situation, knowing they would be in the same room, even though they were discrete while sneaking in each other's cabin.
"I guess you'll have to show me later then..." she smiled, getting up to dress and make her presentable for the meeting, while he was doing the same, half laughing, half frustrated."
"I swear if we weren't on a ship..." he mumbled. She laughed, and kissed him one more time, opening the door to get out first. Once out of the room, they were Admiral Tom Chandler, and Commander Sasha Cooper. And they weren't expecting the rest of the day.
