"What is even going on here?!" Jaune shouted as they performed a… tactical withdrawal from the unexpected clash between two large groups they had stumbled unto.

One side was definitively the White Fang, but the other belied identification, bearing no clear markings or recognisable colours, as well as consisting of both Humans and Faunus.

Luckily, it seemed the latter group had no interest in them, instead focusing their efforts on the White Fang.

And boy was it bloody.

While for the most part the White Fang was taking the vast majority of casualties, there were still some from the other side as well.

The ground was slowly getting covered in bodies and body parts, and blood splattered everywhere.

While death was nothing that Hunters were unfamiliar with, for the most part large scale death such as this was not part of the expectation.

Grimm didn't bleed after all.

So they were all feeling nauseous, and so, after having reported the scene, they had been very grateful when the order came to withdraw.

"Jaune!" A sudden shout as he was shoved to the side.

Where he had previously been a spear passed by, while Jaune himself fell hard against the ground, Pyrrha on top as she had actually literally tackled him.

His eyes trailed towards where the spear came from…

A woman wearing the White Fang uniform, likely some form of Lieutenant he guessed, seeing as her weapon wasn't standard issue exactly.

A long spear, pristine white with a long tip and a nasty spike on the bottom.

A displeased expression crossed her lips, and the spear swung around, the spike shooting in their direction.

But instead of impacting the pair the woman was forced to defend as a pair of sharp blades headed for her neck, even as a hammer threatened to smash into her midsection.

So she spun around, stopping the blades while dancing out of the way of the hammer.

"Are you okay?!" Nora asked, a rare hint of concern in her voice.

"Um, yeah! We're okay!" Pyrrha responded, a slight fluster in her voice.

Even though it felt like several minutes, only a second had passed since his partner had saved him from the spear strike.

"Right! Let's do this!" The orange-haired Valkyrie said excitedly.

She swung her hammer again, the massive weapon reaching incredible speeds.

Simultaneously her stoic partner twisted around where his blades had met the spears handle, his feet launching themselves towards the enemy.

The spear was spun, the force generated causing the green-clad teen to be launched off.

And as he flew clear the woman jumped, doing several backflips before landing a bit away from them.

"Aw… I hoped to get a quick kill, demoralize you and then have a wonderful fight to the death were you furiously tried to get revenge." The woman said in a sickeningly sweet voice, a small pout on her lips.

Pyrrha and Jaune joined up with their team-mates, ready to get into the fray at any moment.

"Oh well… This should be fun as well." The pout turned into a smile, and the woman took a stance.

A deep stance with the spear pointed downward, ready to stab at any moment.

-Break—

At another part of the battlefield a massive man strode, clad in the uniform of the White Fang, with a fearsome mask and a chainsaw in hand, any who got within his range suffered.

As such he was creating a space that none dared enter…

And yet his advance had stopped.

For before him stood another man.

One who rivalled him in size.

Slung over his shoulder lazily was a great claymore.

The White Fang Lieutenant grinned. "You. How dare you betray us?"

"The White Fang has strayed too far. Your cause has been lost."

"So you won't repent? Fine by me!"

The chainsaw roared to life as the masked man charged.

The claymore was shifted into a two-hand grip as the other charged.

And as they clashed a grinding sound resounded over the battlefield as the chainsaw tried to bite into metal.

Muscles bulged as the very air around them seemed to thicken, creating a sort of barrier that kept interference out.

Suddenly the two weapons smashed into the ground with enough force to crater the earth, and the two warriors smashed their foreheads against each other.

Neither gave an inch, and neither so much as reacted even as blood trickled down from their faces.

Finally, they both reared back at the same time, delivering simultaneous punches to each other, the mutual blows sending both of them back.

"Mercury. Go to the front, we need to regain control of the situation." Cinder said, her voice leaving no room for argument.

"Okay. I'll go see to the White Fang."

He wasted no time to leave.

Honestly, he was about to try and find an excuse to leave anyway, because he was getting uncomfortable watching Wayle Tyran fight Adam.

Seriously, why does he have such an oppressive and dark presence?

Not to mention he doubted no one else would come there, seeing as teams from Beacon had started showing up if what he heard from the reports Cinder received was correct.

But even as he entered the forest he felt something was off, like he was being observed.

He didn't spend all that time partnered up with a thief like Emerald without learning when someone was looking at him, even if he couldn't see that person.

Suddenly his danger-sense blared as it seemed to him like the shadows shifted as if something, or someone, had moved through that spot, and suddenly they dissolved as a blade of purple energy sprang into existence in front of him.

He reacted immediately, kicking out with his boot to fend of the sudden attack.

And as he finally managed to get some distance, having both forced his attacker off and jumped back himself, he saw the person wielding the blade.

Latune Subbota, Wayle Tyran protégé and someone who had managed to go from potential nuisance if the circumstances were poor to an outright threat no matter the circumstance.

He frowned.

Just to block that on blade… Just to keep his boots from being damaged…

He had to use up a sizeable chunk of his Aura reserve.

"Mercury Black… When you escaped I was resting up… But this time. This time you won't escape!" The somewhat adorable girl proclaimed.

He clicked his tongue. If she was there ready to intercept anyone trying to get away from Wayle…

"We'll see about that!"

He would need to defeat her here and now.

-Break—

As Blake arrived to the place where Wayle was battling Adam she could see Mercury leaving, but he was heading in the opposite direction from where she was, and she couldn't exactly go through the battle that was playing out before her.

Wayle and Adam…

If one only looked at this fight, he could be led to believe they were equal.

Similar speed and power. Similar skill.

But Wayle wasn't using any of his more exotic abilities, while Adam was using all he had.

Of course, Adam couldn't absorb any energy if none was sent his way, and he couldn't use Kinetic energy…

But even so…

Those draw slashes that could tear through the hardest of metals…

They were being blocked, albeit with effort, by Wayle, and for now it seemed like neither had taken any real damage.

They were both blurs, forcing her to use all her ability just to keep track of them.

The ground around them had been torn, each clash of their blades causing a gale…

They were simply on a level of their own.

"Blake!" She heard the cry of her team leader as five pairs of feet stopped behind her. "Whoa!"

She turned around to look at the others, tearing her eyes of the battle before her. If she were to guess…

Wayle was fighting Adam fairly, without using abilities no one on Remnant had any good countermeasure for.

"And her I thought you guys had wild fights…" Neptune said as he followed the others up.

"Yeah… I guess he really is on another level…" Yang agreed.

"Wait… over there, isn't that…?" Weiss said and pointed in the distance, not quite on the opposite side of the duel.

"Isn't that that Cinder chick?" Sun said as he narrowed his eyes to see.

The raven-haired girl looked in the indicated direction.

"No doubt about it, that's her…" She confirmed after catching sight of the woman with the same hair-colour as her and clad in a red dress.

"She looks like she's considering bolting." The blonde Huntress added.

"We should stop her. You coming Blake? Or will you…" The youngest person present indicated the duel.

"I…" She was slightly torn, and it must have showed, because suddenly she got a supportive pat on the shoulder from her partner.

"You leave that bitch to us, and take care of your past, okay?" The busty gal said with a wink.

The rest of her team, and of course Sun and Neptune gave their own signs of approval.

"With this many of us, if we can't take her down, then I'm not sure adding you would help." Sun said nonchalantly.

"Was that supposed to be encouraging?" She said with a wry smile. "Just get going. I'm going to tie up some lose ends…"

She returned her attention to the duel, even as the others nodded and moved on.

'Of course… At this rate Adam will just lose his life… Do I want that?'

She moved on, steeling her determination.

-Break—

Glynda sighed as she looked over the battlefield, both with her eyes from her vantage point and on the simulated map currently displayed on her scroll.

This was just such a mess.

Still… this was the rumoured Army of Union?

The name most certainly wasn't for show, and as far as she could discern right now it seemed to consist of both Humans and Faunus working under Wayle Tyran…

So that was what he had been up too…

The question she needed to ask herself then was, was this a good development or a bad one?

She shook her head lightly. It was still too early to make a call on the matter.

She turned around as team CVFY arrived.

Good. Someone actually listened to her and managed to return.

And to top it all off, it was team CFVY.

She couldn't ask for more.

"Good. I need your help for an important task. We have some uninvited visitors. Not unexpected, but most certainly not invited." She said.

"I see. That's good. Killing, or even fighting other people just doesn't sit well with me, and even less so with the rest of my team." The team-leader, Coco Adel smiled slightly.

The Professor hadn't even needed to say who or what these visitors were. Uninvited but expected? There could only be one answer.

"I'll take this position. Miss Adel, take your team to the northern pass and hold them there." She instructed.

"But Professor, what about the south?" Velvet, the gentle rabbit Faunus that refused to fight back against bullies for whatever reason.

Luckily the number of bullies had dropped drastically recently. Possibly a combination of Velvet actually letting her team-mates return the favour and Mister Tyran's clear displeasure at such behaviour.

"Don't worry about that. There's fewer Grimm from that side, and I already have a team there. Even they should be able to hold that position. Besides, I have already sent some help there." Glynda ordered imperiously.

With that team CFVY quickly left, and the stern teacher and Huntress started to calmly descend.

Honestly, if she could chose, she would take fighting Grimm over people any day.

She readied her crop, mustered her Aura.

Through her will the manifestation of her soul formed orbs that hovered lazily around her as she walked.

Finally she sent them forth, watching as the speed into the tree line.

Several howls of pain told her that she hit, and soon Beasts burst through the treeline.

In response she unleashed more.

She would not let them further complicate the situation behind her.

Author's notes: Well... it's a chapter. Things are happening. And I feel neither particularly proud or especially displeased with it. Does that mean it went well or poorly? I'm confused at times.

I am on the other hand somewhat amused that someone seemed to want Jaune dead. I'll admit, out of all the characters I was thinking of when I said what I said in the previous chapter's notes, Jaune wasn't really one of them. He's improved... kinda. Also there was someone who wanted a fight kind of like the one between Qui-Gon/Obi Wan and Darth Maul in Phantom Menace... The problem is, Wayle most certainly doesn't fight like Maul does, and probably wouldn't let two people team up against him in the first place (yes, I know I had him fight team JNPR that one time, but that and this is different). So it would be a bit difficult, to say the least. And this, this my friends... would be me rambling because I don't have the faintest clue what to say.

I hope you enjoyed, and that you have a nice day.
