Disclaimer: I do not own either RWBY or Star Wars
First to arrive at the site of Adam Taurus' demise was team RWBY and extras, bruised and battered, most of them were relatively fine, with the exception of Ruby, who was being supported by Weiss, showing clear signs of damage by ice.
Slung ungraciously over Yang's shoulder was the unconscious form of Cinder Fall, who showed some rather heavy injuries where a strong force had pushed her into a hard object. There were signs of damage by ice on her as well, indicating that what injured Ruby also hit Cinder…
Second to arrive was the Captain, battered and bruised, with enough small injuries that without the wondrous power of Aura he should have been dead.
Accompanying him was a group of Army of Union members, drawn from the more capable of their numbers. While they had clearly been through a battle, they were mostly uninjured, and showed no signs of wavering.
Finally, waltzing in with no visible injury, came Latune, followed by two further members of the Army of Union, carrying the unconscious form of Mercury Black, whose injuries were…
Well, he had two metal rods piercing his thighs, and showed clear signs of having been hit by Lightning. There was simply no possible way he was in a good condition.
And in the middle of this gathering stood Wayle and Blake, the young Sith still holding her in an embrace.
A "Hoho" sound could be heard from the massive frame of the Captain as he stroked his chin while a grin formed on his lips.
Wayle could only sigh as he considered what kind of wonderful rumours might 'suddenly' start spreading amongst his followers.
"What happened here? There was a big explosion and…" Yang started asking as she surveyed the surroundings. "Oh." And as her eyes fell upon the body in the epicentre they widened in revelation.
"Well he's dead." Sun provided 'helpfully'.
"Ugh, damn." Weiss said, looking away as well as averting Ruby's eyes.
"Wait, what? What are you doing?" The younger girl asked, not yet having seen what the others saw.
Even Wayle had to agree that it wasn't a pleasant sight, and he had far more experience with death.
Off to the side Latune did her best to maintain a serious façade, even as she was clearly (to Wayle at least) uncomfortable with the sight.
"It seems she does not want you to see it." Wayle finally said.
"What? See what?" Ruby continued her futile struggle to find out the truth, but wounded as she was she was unable to break loose.
"More importantly, what happened to you Ruby? I can only think of one reason you would suffer such damage…" The young Sith narrowed his eyes as he turned his gaze towards the snow-white heiress.
Weiss cringed slightly, showing that she had as a matter of fact caused the damage.
"Oh!" The red Huntress realised what he meant. "Don't blame Weiss, I… kind of insisted that we do that…"
A number of eyes turned towards her.
"But it worked!" The young girl exclaimed in response to the multiple questioning glances.
A prolonged silence settled over the groups.
An unexpected laugh from the middle of them broke it. It was a laugh full of mirth originating unexpectedly from Wayle.
"I see! Certainly, you are one for bold and reckless tactics!" He said, his voice filled with an inexplicable mirth. But slowly his cheer seemed to settle, and his voice became more sombre. "But, I think there are those here whose hearts would rest easier if you would promise to first consider less risky tactics first."
The person being spoken of at least had the decency of looking sheepish.
"Yeah… I'll… try." She said while laughing awkwardly.
The dark youth nodded slightly.
"Now then, does anyone have something to cover Adam with? It is unsightly and I want to move on." He then looked down towards the mop of raven-black hair between his arms. "Is that okay with you Blake?"
The hair shifted, revealing two amber eyes that looked up at him.
There was a profound sadness in them, as if their owner had been torn emotionally.
"Yeah… I'm fine…" She answered, before letting her eyes roam the area, actually taking in the people gathered.
They widened as she registered the presence of the bear Faunus known as the Captain, who in response kept up the slightly lecherous grin as he lifted a hand in greeting.
But even then there was a hint of sadness in his eyes, a sign that he did realise the turmoil the cat Faunus was going through right now. It was just that he wouldn't acknowledge it right now.
"You're…" A soft whisper escaped her lips, and she recovered from her surprise. "I see."
The last were spoken in a level yet low tone, and only Wayle realised she said it.
Wayle looked up from his love.
"So, about that body. Does anyone- Huh." He started speaking, but suddenly stopped with a slightly surprised sound as he looked towards the location of the corpse.
Unaware of the reason for his surprise the others looked towards it as well.
At some point it had been covered, a thick layer of fabric hiding the gruesome remains.
"When did that happen?" Yang stated confused.
The others Hunters, sans Blake, who had an inkling, shrugged, none of them knowing.
But the members of the Army of Union knew it.
It was most certainly the cloak that Felis had decided to bring to this battlefield.
Despite the rather practical nature of her personality, she seemed to enjoy both the slightly dramatic as well as the…
Well, between the hood she would regularly pull over her head, the fact that she was known to miss wearing a mask and seeming to prefer if her body-shape is hidden as well, and one have to assume she wants to hide her identity as much as possible.
Of course, out of those present, only Wayle and Latune had even the slightest inkling of her current position, and between those two only Wayle could tell her exact position right now.
"Well… That settles that." Wayle said in a slightly nonchalant tone. "Now. Latune, what happened to Mercury?"
His disciple squirmed slightly under the scrutiny he put her.
"Well… I decided to… practice my interrogation skills on him…" She responded cautiously.
"And did you learn anything?" He queried on.
She shook her head. "Not really. I couldn't bring myself to hurt him further so… I just let him lose consciousness." She made a slight grimace.
"Well… That might just be for the best." Wayle said solemnly.
"Okay… If we're just going to ignore that-"Yang said and pointed towards the fabric covering Adam. "Then I suppose maybe we can get some introductions?"
Wayle's expression became thoughtful as he seemed to think over the request.
His musings were cut short however as the Captain gave him a nod, indicating his approval.
The young Lord shrugged lightly with a small smile on his face.
"Well then. Let me introduce the Captain. He's one of my first subordinates, and a prominent member of my Army of Union." He said as he indicated the large man. Then he pointed towards the people behind him. "And these are some of our finer members."
"A pleasure to meet some of our Lord's acquaintances." The large man said with a friendly gesture.
The soldiers bowed and uttered similar phrases.
A slight frown made its way onto Wayle's features, one that was not missed by team RWBY and friends.
"Lord?" Came the question from Blake.
"In our Lord's defence we are the ones who started calling him such. He had no part in that decision." The smile on the Captain's face as he said this spoke volumes about the matter, although it was missed by the soldiers, who would continue to take the title seriously.
The Lord in question simply sighed.
"And I doubt you need introducing to Latune here." He then continued, indicating the petite purple-haired girl.
"Do you also call him Lord?" Yang asked with a slight snicker.
"No, I call him Master." The apprentice responded with a straight face.
Yang gave Wayle a 'Really?' face, in response of which Wayle shrugged and gave her a resigned look.
Well, part of him did like these titles.
He then seemed to consider something as he seemingly looked into the distance.
After a few moments, he suddenly seemed to come to a conclusion to his pondering, and made a few gestures that could best be interpreted as: "Could you please get over here."
Of course, considering the person gesturing, and the person they were meant for, it could just as well have been an order.
Suddenly a female figure dropped down next to the Captain, who gave her a displeased look for a few moments before returning to his previous more or less serious face.
At first the members of team RWBY, minus Blake plus Sun and Neptune, looked alarmed at the sudden appearance of another person, but seeing as Wayle probably beckoned her over, and no one else was reacting, least of all Wayle, their alarm soon shifted into curiosity.
"Let me introduce Felis Luna, another of my first subordinates, and just as prominent a member as the Captain." Wayle indicated the newcomer.
Said person withdrew the hood, allowing her full features to become apparent.
"Hello everynyan. How are you?" She said as she gave a light bow.
Silence once again settled over the group as they processed her words.
"Every…nyan?" Weiss said as she tilted her head in confusion.
The cat-girl ignored the question and instead directed her attention towards the girl cuddling up to Wayle.
"And hello Blake. Is that a comfortable place to be?" She asked.
Blake looked at her with an oddly sour expression. "As a matter of fact. Yes. Yes it is." She then said and snuggled in closer.
The silver-haired Faunus grinned slightly and emitted an 'Oh ho' sound.
"Wait, you know each other?" Ruby asked.
"Yes, we are acquainted since our mutual time in the White Fang, isn't that right Blake?" The assassin responded with a smile.
In response the Huntress-in-training grunted unhappily.
"Unfortunately as you can see she doesn't really like me all that much." She said, that same smile still adorning her lips.
There was no reply to this statement.
After several moments of silence, Wayle set his expression and spoke up again.
"Well, enough of this. Let us return to a more serious topic." He waited a bit to make sure he had everyone's attention. "What do we do with Adam?"
While he said this directed towards all present, there was only really one who could answer.
"Could we… bury him?" Blake said uncertainly.
"Alright, that should-"Wayle started answering.
"Just the two of us?" The raven-haired girl added.
The youth looked questioningly at the former White Fang members in the Army of Union, who all solemnly nodded.
He then looked towards the other Hunters. They seemed hesitant, but ultimately they nodded as well.
"Well then. You all return ahead of me. And make sure to secure and treat Mercury Latune!" He said in response to his side.
"We'll go meet up with Glynda. Don't take too long Blake." Ruby said.
"Yeah, don't get distracted you two!" Yang added with a wink.
And so the two groups left, leaving only the two of them.
Blake finally reluctantly removed herself from the embrace, a slight flush evident on her face.
She looked at the covered corpse.
"What should we do with the cloak? Return it to Felis?" She asked.
"I thought you disliked her?"
"Doesn't mean I can't be polite."
"I think she'll be fine. Leave it."
Even so, Blake went up to the cloth, and reached inside.
After some fumbling she managed to remove Wilt and its sheath.
Due to the fact that Adam's body was already down inside a crater, they didn't dig a hole, but instead moved the surrounding dirt to cover the body itself, leaving something of a small mound.
On top of this Blake stuck the recovered arms.
She stood regarding them for a while before she seemed to realise something.
"What if someone takes it?"
Wayle hummed a bit, thinking.
Then he walked up to the weapon and sheath and put his hand on top of them.
A slight glow as a glyph etched itself into the sword, sheath and mound before it settled and the glyph seemingly disappeared.
"That should prevent the grave from being disturbed." He then said.
For some time they just stood there.
"I thought you would refuse."
"Hmm?" He looked at her curiously.
"I thought you would feel he didn't deserve any kind of funeral after what he said…"
"Even though he may have ultimately been… unworthy... he was still a great warrior, and had some care for his people. Even though he may have been misguided."
"I see… What will you do now?"
"I will try to convince the councils."
"They probably won't listen. They don't seem to have cared before now, while the White Fang desperately tried to make them listen…" The raven-haired Faunus seemed hesitant. "And… There have been people prying about you… I think the councils might have seen you as a threat before… And now… you have shown the power to crush the remnants of the White Fang openly… Just… Just be careful, and… mind the innocents."
"I will do my best. But, if it comes to conflict, even my power will be unable to prevent the loss of innocent lives." A sorrowful look settled across his features. "For are not many soldiers ultimately also innocent?"
Author's notes: Urgh. Sorry this took so damn long. I suffer from bouts of serious procrastination problems, and with University deciding to get busy and a number of irregular days and well... And I seriously am starting to wonder what I'm actually doing at times. Anyway, there might be a while before I update again, although if life decides to play nice again I might get back on track.
I hope this chapter didn't bore any of you, or feel off or anything like that. It would be appreciated if you would leave a review, with all that it entails.
I hope you enjoyed and that you have a nice day.
