The Biological Breakdown

Everything is changing in the Lost Cities. While Sophie struggles with the identities of her biological parents, the Neverseen is gathering speed. Choices need to be made between people, love, powers, and the very world around them. It is the ultimate test for the Keeper Crew, but they don't know how to pass it.

2. Lunch

Sophie sat down besides Biana near the end of the table, carefully setting down her lunch tray.

Biana scanned Sophie's food tray with slight disgust. "Seriously? Mashed Carnissa Root?" Blitzenberry Muffins?"

"What?" Sophie defended herself. "I like them. Besides compared to some peoples..." She nodded to Dex who's plate was piled high with the green balls that Sophie recognized from her first day of school.

Fitz leaned over the table and displayed his plate, which had just about everything on it.

Sophie laughed. "Wait, where's Ke-?" She stopped.

Everyone at the table looked around, carefully avoiding each other's eyes until Tam and Linh approached the table, looking slightly confused at the silence. They sat down quietly, the table attitude resembling a somber funeral, quite the comparison to the rest of the lunchroom.

Sophie stood up abruptly, "I think I'm going to take a walk."

"Do you want me to come?" Fitz asked.

"No," Sophie replied, harsher than she had intended. "Sorry, it's just..."

Fitz gave a sad smile and followed her out of the lunchroom anyway.
