There was Keefe, laying down peacefully as if he was sleeping. But she knew he wasn't.

She leaned over the cot he was on, closing the curtain behind her, ignoring Fitz's and Elwin's curious stares. "Please wake up Keefe. If you can hear me, please wake up. It's me. Sophie."

Nothing.

(A/N: Bet you thought Keefe was going to wake up here. Sorry, but I promise it will be soon. Kinda.)

"Keefe, please. We need you." She hesitated and whispered, "I need you. Please."

Still nothing.

She tried transmitting. Keefe, if you can hear this please wake up. Please. Please. It's me, Sophie. Please.

She sighed. She had backed out of Oralie's offer at the last minute, she wanted to emotionally prepare herself with her echoes. Now she was regretting it. She would do anything to get Keefe back.

She walked out or Keefe's small area and fixed Fitz and Elwin with a determined stare.

She had made her decision.

It was time to hail Councilor Oralie and face the future she was so desperately trying to avoid.

(A/N: All my cliffhangers are so cheesy it makes me sad.)

If you have time, I would love a comment.
