Chapter 2: In this Superhuman Society

Nagisa Shiota - Quirkless

Karma Akabane - Quirkless

"I understand how you feel." Despite saying those words to Nagisa, Karma felt himself still a little conflicted. He actually started to turn away just to not let the bluenette see through his features.

And he did mean what he said. He felt like it was needed to be said, seeing Nagisa's expression after Karma reminded him that he pretty much have a High School up his sleeve. Both of them do. Karma was actually up to continue at Kunugigaoka's High School curriculum, and he was pretty sure Nagisa had passed on some other fancy Academy.

But it kind of...Karma wasn't sure how to phrase it yet...it just, kind of drifted off of their minds after being told to have such opportunity to enter a hero course, UA High School, at best.

It was a big deal, a chance to take on a dream that the lot of their class pretty much shoved at the back of their thoughts a long time ago.

--

It didn't take long, soon Nagisa and Karma found themselves in a conference room where apparently a good portion of their class were already present.

"Oi, thought you wouldn't try this out, Karma." Nakamura greeted him standing from where she sat and leaning on the table in front of her.

He started to walk towards her direction and took a the empty seat beside her. Nagisa following suit, settling himself beside the redhead. "Nah, figured it wouldn't hurt. Besides, Kunugigaoka's kind of in a pinch."

The blonde shrugged from the words. Just then, the door to the room opened to reveal more of their classmates coming in.

"Hey, guys!" It was Kayano now coming towards them with a smile.

"Hi Kayano." Nagisa greeted back with a smile, Karma noticed the faint blush that tinted the other girl's cheek and he found himself sporting a mischievous smirk. He heard a light evil chuckle from beside him and he whipped his head to face Nakamura who also sported those michievous glint on her eyes.

So his Pranking Lieutenant had noticed it too.

"I am having a bad feeling with the look on your faces right now." Nagisa commented, noticing the atmosphere with the pranksters, and generally oblivious on what it was about.

"Nah, don't sweat it." Karma shrugged.

Kayano, however, knew what it meant. So when Nakamura flashed her a devilish smirk, the dyed haired girl's face reddened much more intensely.

--

They supposed, it shouldn't have surprised them to see their former teachers in front of them and a few of the UA staffs too. Pro Heroes—Karma believes so, at least.

"Good morning, brats."

"Morning, Professor Bitch." Maehara responded with an easy smirk.

The title earned a low gasp and shock faces with the UA staffs. Guess none of them were expecting that.

"I guess that would never go away." She commented trying to sound sullen and defeated. This earned a few fits of giggles from the class. 'Okay,' Karma thought, 'maybe she was indeed feeling sullen about the nickname.'

Still though, it was obvious with the slight upward twitch from her painted red lips that she somehow loved the nickname. Maybe not exactly loved it, but had learned to just get through with it. It was plain from the way she roamed her eyes to them that somehow at some point they earned a soft spot in the pro assassin's heart, and for them, it mattered. A lot.

All of them have been thrown at the bottom, and had been classified as good for nothing failures. The thought of being appreciated meant a lot.

The assassination classroom and all of the individuals they met through it had pulled them all up from the low. It taught them to keep their head held high, to be confident and to keep going.

And as the loud pro hero, Present Mic explained the administration of the written admission test for the recommendation applicants, Karma felt himself swell with pride and confidence. Not just for himself, but also, for the rest of his classmates that's taking said test. He never thought he would have such trust and confidence to a bunch of people whom he only had the chance to know for a year or two.

--

"Man, our finals were harder than that." Everyone of the boys turned to Terasaka with his comment about the written exam. All of them were done with it and were currently changing to comfortable clothes after being told that the practicals would come next.

Isogai was the first to address their classmates' statement. With a chuckle, he said; "Coming from Terasaka, I guess that would mean a lot," which had elicited fits of chuckles and lighthearted laughter from the group.

The brute just grumbled and decided to just ignore them.

"It's only 20% of our total scores for acceptance though, so we can't be too confident." Karma stated, matter of factly. It earned a few murmurs and nods of agreement from the boys.

"Still, you all are too pessimistic. We can ace the practicals, no sweat." Maehara said and then calmly made his way out of the changing rooms.

There was a short moment of silence as the boys were left to ponder his words. A chuckle drew all of their attention then. "It kind of surprised me that Maehara believes in all of us." Kimura noted as he fixed his rubber shoes.

"Well, he has grounds to believe so, ain't he?" It was Isogai who had asked, giving all of them a genuine smile before exiting the room.

True. They all have a lot of grounds to believe in themselves. It took them a whole year, or maybe more than that, to establish those grounds. This is an opportunity that none of them shall let pass without at least trying to grab it.

Soon, all of them found themselves in a wide field within UA grounds, testing physical fitness. Strength, flexibility, and mobility. The ordinary ones that all of them did back in junior high.

It lasted until noon, and then they were given a break for lunch. The UA cafeteria was opened for them.

Aside from their classmates that decided to take the Recommendation's Entrance Exam, a few heroes, Mr. Karasuma and Irina no one else seemed to be currently present within the UA grounds.

"So, this Recommendation Exam was really exclusive for our class, huh?" Nagisa mumbled in between his meal, sitting beside Karma who's also taking his moment for the delicious lunch that the UA cafeteria offered.

The redhead hummed in thought before replying. "Nah, probably because our recommendations came in late. And we're a whole class so there's that."

Their recommendations indeed came in late. Mr. Karasuma had told them so. The school year's about to start in two weeks time too.

"Still though, and our exam's probably gonna last for a day. Professor Bitch said we have one last practical after lunch." Kayano commented, sitting on the other side of Nagisa.

"They're probably upping the exams to test everything from out of us. It's not everyday that a bunch of quirkless students get recommendations." The redhead said, flatly as he took a spoonful of his mashed potatoes. "If the whole of UA's executives got sticks up their asses, our classmates with quirks are probably the only ones that passes."

The two then found themselves silent after that blunt statement from Karma. While they knew the government, specifically, Mr. Karasuma's confidence to their class is genuine, there's no way for them to know if others could see them that way too. See them as more than a quirkless bunch of misfits and failures.

Because, in this superhuman society, they were bound to be looked down on.

Note: My idea for this fanfic is that that not all of 3-E will have quirks only a few of them. And I'll let you all know as we go on. I hope you enjoy this one. This is my first attempt at a crossover, so help me improve, yeah?

Stay safe. Everyone.
