Chapter 1
Night Escape
Tonight was the most important night. It was the night where two kingdoms will be at peace with each other. Four black Lucian Star cars drove down the roads of the city Insomnia. In the third car, Prince Noctis Lucis Caleum was on his way to the Caleum Via Hotel where a gathering will be held. The four cars arrived and pulled up in front of the entrance. Noctis opened the door and got out of the car.
People who arrived before him were standing, talking. As he walked inside the hotel, he overheard conversations about the peace treaty between Niflheim and Lucis.
"Hello, Your Highness." said a deep voice. Noctis turned his head to see Cor Leonis, a Marshal of the Crownsguard, who sidled up beside him.
"Didn't expect you to be here." Noctis said as he continued walking.
"I have no choice. I have to be here, by your father's orders." Cor said.
"Where is he anyway?" Noctis asks.
"He should be arriving any minute now." Cor replied.
Outside the hotel, another Lucian Star car pulled up. King Regis Lucis Caleum got out of the car. His Shield, Clarus Amacitia, got out from the car behind Regis'. Then two winged beasts appeared from the sky. One was white with silver feathered wings. The smaller one was white with black feathered wings.
They both landed gracefully and with bright white magic, they both transformed into humans. The older one is Nova Ulric. She has silvery white air and has light-blue eyes. One her left shoulder, she has a spiral mark of a dragon, letting others know she is part dragon. She is wearing a long white gown for the gathering.
The younger one is Moonrise Ulric. The daughter of Nova Ulric. She has black hair with the same light-blue eyes. On her right shoulder, she has the same spiral mark of a dragon. She is wearing a long dark purple sparkling gown.
"Remember, do not let your true identity be revealed unless necessary." Nova said to her daughter quietly.
"Yes, Mother." Moonrise replied. All her life, Moonrise was told to not let their enemy Niflheim know who they really are. Not even tonight.
Up on the second floor of the hotel, Ignis Scientia was leaning against the railing of a balcony. He was watching the people on the floor below him.
"Ignis." said a small soft voice.
Ignis turned around to see Moonrise Ulric walking towards him. He smiled softly at her.
"You look absolutely beautiful, my dear." he said.
Moonrise smiled. "And you look absolutely handsome."
They both leaned against the railing, looking down at the lower floor.
"I thought your mother would never allow you to come." Ignis said.
"Well, apparently my mother had to come under King Regis' orders. And I am going to be Prince Noctis' Royal Dragon so, why not?" Moonrise explained.
"You seem to be very convincing, my dear." Ignis said with a small smile.
"I try. Speaking of Noctis, have you seen him? It's been years since I've last talked to him." Moonrise said.
"He should be on his way on meeting the princess of Tenebrae." Ignis said.
"Tenebrae? They have a princess?" Moonrise asked.
"Yes." Ignis answered.
"What does that have to do with the peace treaty?" Moonrise asks.
"It appears that Niflheim and Tenebrae are on the same side. If I heard correctly, Noct and the princess of Tenebrae are suppose to meet tonight. And if the peace treaty goes well, I assume Noct will be betrothed to the Tenebrae princess." Ignis explained.
"Wow, that's a lot to take in." Moonrise said.
"Indeed." Ignis agreed.
"Well, let's just hope this peace treaty does go well. Because if it doesn't... Who knows what will happen next."
Ignis and Moonrise continue looking down at the people. On that same lower floor, Gladiolus Amacitia, son of Clarus Amacitia, has a drink in his hand and was leaning against the wall of the building.
"Hey big guy." said a light-hearted voice. Prompto Argentum, Prince Noctis friend, walked over to the Prince's Shield.
"So you managed to come after all." Gladiolus said.
"Yeah. Cor finally let me come to Noct's royal gatherings." Prompto said.
"Well, unlucky for me, I have to be here. Lucky for Iris." Gladiolus said with a hint of annoyance.
"Iris isn't here?" Prompto asked.
"Nope. She's still in training to become the next Lucian Shield. She hasn't reached that age yet." Gladiolus explained.
"Well, Iris is sure missing out." Prompto said.
Up on the highest floor, Noctis was sitting down on a bench, thinking in his own thoughts. There was less people up there.
"Hello." said a small voice with an accent.
Noctis looked up to see a woman standing in front of him. She has soft light-yellow blonde hair, soft blue eyes, and has a soft smile. She is wearing a plain white dress.
"Oh, I didn't see you there." Noctis said.
"It's quite alright. You must be Prince Noctis." she said.
"Yeah. And you are?" Noctis said.
"I am Lunafreya Nox Fleuret."
Noctis quickly got up and was surprised at what he heard. "You're the princess of Tenebrae."
"Yes." Lunafreya answered.
"I heard I was supposed to meet you." Noctis said.
"Well then, it is a pleasure to finally meet you, Your Highness." Lunafreya said.
"You can drop the formalities. I wasn't very fond of that." Noctis honesty said.
"Oh. Forgive me." Lunafreya said.
"Don't be. You can call me Noctis."
"Alright, Noctis. Do you mind if we take a stroll." Lunafreya asked.
"Sure. I don't mind at all." Noctis said casually.
They both locked elbows and walked along the large tall windows of the building. Back down to the lower floors, a melody started playing and a few people started waltzing. Ignis lend his hand towards Moonrise.
"Care to dance, my love?" he asked.
"Don't mind if I do." Moonrise said and she took his hand.
They walked down towards the center of the floor and they started waltzing to the melody.
"Wow! Look at them go!" Prompto said as he noticed Ignis and Moonrise dancing.
"It's funny how they ended up together." Gladiolus said.
Prompto sighed. "Yeah. They're made for each other."
Up on a balcony, Nova was watching her daughter dance with her beloved. She always knew they would get together. And she approved of Ignis. He was a great choice for Moonrise. Then Regis walked up to her.
"I must go Nova. I need to attend the meeting with the Emperor of Niflheim."
"Alright." Nova replied. She turned to go but Regis stopped her.
"No. Please. Stay here and enjoy the night. Clarus and the rest of the Crownsguard will be there." Regis told her.
"Yes, Your Majesty." Nova said. But then she saw Regis grow serious.
"If something we're to happen, I want you to escort the princess of Tenebrae out of the city and have your daughter take my son and his retinue." he said quietly.
"Of course, Your Majesty." Nova said with a bow. She watched Regis walk away with his Shield.
Back with Noctis and Lunafreya, they were just finishing up a conversation.
"Seems like you had a harsh childhood." Noctis said.
"Yes. After Niflheim invaded our land, Ravus and I drifted apart." Lunafreya said sadly. "That is why I am so glad to meet you. I know you will bring our world peace once again."
"You really think I can do that?" Noctis asks doubtfully.
"I know you will." Lunafreya said with a smile.
Then something caught Noctis' eye over Lunafreya's shoulder.
Luna caught his look. "What is it?"
Noctis slowly moved closer to the window. Lunafreya followed his gaze and stood next to him. What Noctis saw was a lone imperial aircraft flying above the streets of Insomnia.
"Isn't that an imperial aircraft?" Noctis said.
"It belongs to Niflheim." Lunafreya responded.
"What are they doing here?"
Then they heard yells and screams behind them. Just as they both turned around, an imperial aircraft crashed through the building, the glass of the windows shattering. People were running out of the building screaming. Noctis stood protectively in front of Luna, getting ready to summon the Royal Arms. Then imperial soldiers walked out of the aircraft with guns in hand.
Back on the lower floor, Moonrise and Ignis were just finishing their dance when they saw the people from the upper floor come running down franticly.
"What's going on?" Moonrise asked.
"Moonrise, get down!" Ignis suddenly said. Moonrise felt Ignis firmly pull her down to the floor. Then she heard it. The crash of something huge and then the screams and yells of the other people in the building. She looked over her shoulder to see imperial soldiers walking out of a aircraft. Then she heard someone calling out to her.
She turned back to see Gladiolus with his shield, yelling out to her. Prompto was with him, motioning her and Ignis to come over there. They both got up on their feet and quickly ran over to the two.
"Gladio, what's going on!" Moonrise asked him.
"I don't know! I think we're under attack!" Gladiolus responded. The imperial soldiers were now firing bullets and they were bouncing off of Gladio's shield.
"Luna, get to safety!" Noctis told her.
Lunafreya started running towards the stairs, getting down to the entrance of the building.
Noctis summoned the Royal Arms and faced the imperial soldiers. They started firing at him but his Armiger protected him from the bullets. He warp striked on the imperials, stabbing and fighting them.
Back with the four, Gladiolus still has his shield up and Prompto was now firing his own gun at the imperials. Then a huge white dragon attacked the imperials, flinging them and swiping them with it's claws.
"Mother!" Moonrise said as she recognized the dragon. When it was all clear, she ran towards her.
The dragon faced her daughter. "Moonrise! Are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Moonrise responded.
"Listen to me Moonrise," Nova said as she looked her daughter in the eyes. "I have orders from the king. I need you to get Prince Noctis out of the city."
"What? Why?" Moonrise asked.
"Just do it." Nova replied.
Moonrise gave her mother a hug. Nova wrapped her talon around her daughter.
"I will Mother." Moonrise said, on the verge of tears.
"I love you Moonrise." Nova replied, who was also on the verge of tears but was staying strong.
"I love you too." Moonrise said, tears now streaming down.
Nova looked up at the three who were looking at them. She then turned her gaze on Ignis.
"You love her, don't you." Nova said to Ignis.
"I do." Ignis replied.
"Then promise me. Promise me you'll protect her out there with your life." Nova said.
Ignis was slightly stunned at the promise but he quickly replied "I promise."
Nova nodded and she pulled Moonrise out of her grasp. '"It's time to get going."
Moonrise wiped her tears away. "What about you?"
"I'll be fine. I have my own orders to take. I'll see you soon, okay?"
"Okay."
Moonrise watched her mother fly off, wondering when she will see her again. Taking a deep breath, she transformed into a dragon.
"Hop on." she said to the three.
Ignis, Gladiolus, and Prompto got on Moonrise's back and she flew out of the opening of where the aircraft crashed.
"Where's Noctis?" she asked.
"He should be on the floor above us." Ignis answered.
Noctis just got done with finishing off the imperials when Moonrise landed on the floor of the building.
"Noct!" Ignis yelled out.
"Noct, come on!" Prompto yelled out.
Noctis heard his friends calling him and he ran towards them. He hopped on Moonrise and off they went into the night sky.
"Moonrise, what were your orders?" Ignis asked her.
"I was to get Noctis and the rest of you out of the city." Moonrise answered.
"Is there anything else?" Noctis asked.
"No. That's all my mother told me. Also, your father has a car waiting for you." Moonrise told Noctis.
"He does?" Noctis asks, a bit confused.
"Yes. Remember the Regalia?"
"Oh yeah. What about it?"
"It's waiting in a place called Hammerhead."
"So we go there?" Prompto asked.
"I guess so." Noctis said.
"Then Hammerhead it is."
