A week after the incident that causes Sakura to lose her memories, Mebuki and Kizashi's bodies are found by the anbu squad sent to find them and brought back to the Leaf Village "And what of their child" Hiruzen inquired.

Knowing that the couple had a daughter "Unfortunately Hokage-sama it was just them, if Haruno-san is still alive we have no idea where she could be" one of the anbu informed with a partial bow in apology for being unable to find the little girl.

Hiruzen blew out a stream of smoke "Keep searching in the meantime, she is young, only five and I'll see her brought home and taken care of" the Hokage ordered, intent on finding little Sakura Haruno and bringing her back to the village.

Given their orders the team of anbu left the village again to resume their search for the missing academy student and after two weeks their hope of finding her began dwindling down into nothing as they remained unable to find Sakura.

Who had already fled the immediate area and was in fact no longer in Fire Country at all as she ran to put that place she'd woken up as far behind her as she could just in case whoever had caused that destruction was pursuing her in an attempt to throw them off.

Because while she might have forgotten who she was, Sakura was still a highly intelligent five year old and she knew that bad things would happen if she stuck around that area, so she ran until she happened upon a little town.

Lungs heaving and chest rising and falling rapidly from exertion, her little stomach growling in hunger with no money to her name, Sakura peeked around the corner of the little alley she'd hidden herself in after arriving and stayed there most of the day.

Until the shops had locked up and people closed up their stalls, the streets were deserted but that didn't mean anything, someone could always be watching and waiting to thwart any attempts at thievery but little Sakura knew she had to eat in order to survive.

So stealing was her only option at the moment, intent green eyes stared at the stall closest to her as her whole body tensed in preparation of what she was about to do before Sakura made a mad dash towards her objective and ducked down just in case.

After a few minutes of nothing happening Sakura lifted her head cautiously and looked into the stall that sold apples, ever so carefully she filched as many as she could carry from the stall and bounded back to her safe zone with her stolen prizes.

Then once she made sure that no one had seen her steal Sakura crouched at the far end of the alley and hungrily devoured three apples while leaving herself enough to have breakfast in the morning as she curled up on the ground and drifted off into a restless, uncomfortable, wary sleep.

Very angry yelling woke her the following morning, frightening Sakura onto her feet as she shoved the remaining two apples under her dirty dress and hid behind a small crate so that anyone peering down the alley wouldn't see her.

Eventually the commotion died down and Sakura hastily ate her breakfast before attempting to get rid of the evidence by hiding the apple cores under the empty crate, then ever so cautiously crept towards the exit of her alley to peer out of it again.

The apple seller didn't look to happy at finding some of his apples missing from the stall he'd forgotten to lock up and Sakura knew she couldn't risk stealing from the apple stall again, so after looking both ways.

To ensure no one saw her peek out of the alley, Sakura inched her way out into the open and down the path in the opposite direction until she found a building that had a sign with some kind of plant on it, besieged by curiosity Sakura entered the building.

The bell on the door tinkling merrily and alerting whoever was working in the shop of her less than quiet entrance, she very nearly bolted in fright as someone rushed out from behind the counter towards her.

Fearful that she was about to be caught, Sakura turned her intent clear to leave as fast as possible and nearly knocked herself out on the door that had closed behind her "Oh that looked like it hurt" the woman winced.

Hearing the painful crack of the child's forehead hitting the door "Are you alright dearie, I didn't mean to frighten you, it's just it looks like you've been through something awful and I was merely concerned about you is all" the woman knelt.

Kneeling over the bright haired girl who couldn't be more than five if she had to guess "Dunno, I don't remember, not my name or anything really just that when I woke up I hurt and the place was a wreck" Sakura flinched.

Cowering away from the woman in front of her, obviously afraid "Amnesia perhaps, well your in the right place to be treated sweetie….how about I call you Sakura for now, cause of your pink hair and you can call me Isha-sensei" Isha introduced herself.

Despite the pain radiating from her forehead, Sakura sprung up "But I don't got any money, you don't have to help me I can help myself" Sakura informed stubbornly because she didn't want to make things worse for herself.

"Nonsense Sakura it's my choice, you'll just owe me, which you can pay off by learning the properties of all these wonderful plants and working in this shop as my apprentice got it sweetie" Isha was equally as stubborn unfortunately.

But at least for now Sakura had somewhere she could call a home as she was dragged into the back and placed upon a table where Isha pressed a glowing green hand to her aching head and the pain went away little by little.

Even the pain that she still felt from two weeks ago "Was that supposed to give me back my memories to" Sakura frowned when she still didn't remember anything, Isha smiled sadly at her and enfolded the little girl in her arms tenderly.

In the following days after she was practically adopted by Isha, Sakura learned a great deal of things, such as how to prepare ointment for bruises, open wounds and the like seeing as she had become an apprentice to the local pharmacist in the small village.

So it was her duty to learn and do everything her mistress asked of her, for the most part it was easy as Isha requested very little like running an errand to buy something from another stall or shop or deliver some sort of medicine to a patient or client that couldn't make it to the shop.

With directions on how to use the medicine in hand, the rest of the time was spent studying books on herbal plants with all sorts of medicinal properties, while Isha provided her with clean clothes and meals so that she didn't have to steal anymore.

Unbeknownst to her all the way back in the Leaf Village that had been her home until she couldn't remember it was her best friend Ino, who wept when she was given the news that she would never get to see Sakura again as the Hokage called off the search for Sakura Haruno.

Life went on in Konohagakure for the next couple of years but never once did Ino forget her friend Sakura who should have been going to the academy with her and now was forever lost or so she thought but chance would smile down upon her years later where she would meet her best friend again.
