The massive electrical activity in this planet's atmosphere and the creatures living off the lightning have earned Ultra Plant its name. The name also has a dual meaning, as the majority of life here roots itself into the ground and soaks up electricity like plants absorb water. Native organisms, all of which possess unusual biochemistry, have both rooted and motile behaviors and can freely switch between the two. The soil itself contains many conductive elements, some of which store the energy of lightning strikes for the local life to feed on later.
Ultra Plant's location in the galaxy is known and well-documented. Its parent Necrozma is visible with the naked eye on a clear night, but it is so far from Astreyza that standard spaceflight is impractical. Reaching it by wormhole is far quicker, and locating it in the sky makes it incredibly easy for squad-assigned Solgaleo and Lunala to open direct portals to the planet rather than traversing the Ultra Warp and scanning each wormhole individually. The energies of the Sunne and Moone Pokémon have been successfully imitated using artificial devices, so Solgaleo and Lunala are only used to find and transfer the coordinates to the machine, removing limitations caused by the number of Solgaleo or Lunala available at base.
