Chapter 2: Christmas Carols, Christmas Carols Everywhere!
Sometime later, Kenny and Miles were both building a snowman while the Woodland Animals were looking around for a Christmas tree they could bring inside so they could decorate. TIMBER!
Kenny: Oh, that's gonna be a great Christmas tree. Just bring it inside, guys. Thanks.
Suddenly they heard some noises coming from the woods. Then out came Rachel Redd. She was carrying presents.
Rachel: Hiya, Ken! I finally made it.
Miles: Is she a friend of yours?
Kenny: (answering Miles' question) Unfortunately, yes. She was on ZOOM for Seasons 3 and 4. (to Rachel): Hey, Rach! You're a bit late.
Rachel: Yeah, I was chasin' the truck all the way. And boy am I exhausted.
Kenny: (chuckles) Oh I get it, truck, exhaust. Hey, go inside and tell it to Caroline. She likes cheap jokes.
Rachel: OK.
Rachel walked up to the house behind the Woodland animals who were bringing to the tree inside.
Caroline: (motioning to the other side of the windows) All right, guys. Put it over there in the corner.
Gordon and Susan were helping Caroline hang up decorations.
Caroline: C'mon Robinsons, let's get this holly up here.
Rachel walked up.
Rachel: Hey, Caroline! I've been chasin' the truck and boy... Nyah-ah!
Before Rachel could finish, she slipped and her presents went up in the air as they crashed onto the floor with the presents coming down afterwards.
Caroline: Oh my gosh! I guess Kenny didn't tell ya about the icy patch.
Rachel struggled to get back up, making sure nothing she brought was broken.
Rachel: Yeah, I guess not. I come from holidays.
Eric rolled up. He recognized her right away.
Eric: Hey there, Rachie. Are you here for the Holidays?
Rachel: You bet.
Susan: More people?
Caroline: (sighs) I'll go see if there's some spare pillows in the kennel.
Something caught Rachel's eye on the other side of the stairs.
Rachel: (rolling up to an old piano) Aha! Hey fellas, check out this lil' beauty.
Rachel then motioned her hands in a fashion similar to a human cracking his/her knuckles and started playing "Sleigh Ride".
Eric: Boy, does that piano need a tune up. I love outta tune pianos.
Coincidentally, Kenny was singing the lyrics to Sleigh Ride outside himself.
Kenny: (singing) Just hear those sleigh bells ringling
Ting-ting-tingling, too
Out here, it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you
Outside the snow is falling
and friends are callin' yoo-hoo
Outside it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you
Giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy-up, let's go
Let's look at the snow
We're riding in a wonderful land of snow
Giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy-up, it's grand
Just holding your hand
We're glidin' along
with the song of a wintry fairy land
As Kenny finished the last verse, the snowman exploded, revealing Miles underneath as he started singing along.
Miles: (singing) Our cheeks are nice and rosy
and comfy and cozy all week
We're snuggled up together
like two birds of a feather would be
Kenny couldn't help but laugh.
Kenny/Miles: (Singing) Let's take the road before us
and sing a chorus or two
C'mon it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you
Kenny: You made a good snowman, Miles.
Miles: Actually I'm a s-new man.
Kenny: What's a s-new man?
Miles: Nothing s-new man, what s-new with you?
The woodland animals had just come out again after helping with the tree, and they laughed like an audience at a stage show.
Miles: There's a christmas party at the home of Farmer Grey
Kenny: (singing) It'll be a perfect ending of a perfect day
Kenny/Miles: (singing) We'll be singing the songs
we love to sing without a single stop
At the fireplace while we watch the chestnuts pop
Penguins popped out of the snow, laughing themselves silly.
The animals laughed at the little routine their friends were putting on. Gordon was outside as well and was also enjoying the "show", laughing along.
Miles: Well, it's always cold at Christmas.
Kenny: Ah, Christmas. Time for Santa Claus and his eight prancing rein dare.
Miles: Don'cha mean reindeer, Kenny?
Kenny: Nnope! (throwing snow into the air) It's snow, darling!
Kenny/Miles: (singing) There's a happy feeling nothing in the world can buy
When they pass around the coffee and the pumpkin pie
It'll nearly be like a picture print by Currier and Ives
These wonderful things are things we remember all through our lives
Outside the snow is falling and friends are calling yoo-hoo
Woodland animals: Yoo-hoo!
Everyone: (singing) Outside it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with youuuuuuuu!
Gordon and other animals nearby clapped their hands and cheered the performance. Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Pablo had taken over from Eric in preparing some food.
Garrett: Say, where's Eric?
Pablo: Oh he's out in the livin' room, helpin' decorate the tree.
Garrett: Oh. Okay.
Suddenly, Garrett'ss cellphone went off again. He pulled it out from his pocket again and answered.
Garrett: Hello? Oh hey, Aline.
This time, Aline was calling from a store.
Aline: Hey, Garrett. I just wanted to let ya know that I'm doing some last minute Christmas shopping before I head up to Caroline's.
Garrett: Well, don't be too long, okay, Aline? Tonight is Christmas eve and all.
Aline: (giggles) Don't you fret about me. I'll be there asap. Promise. TTFN.
As she hung up, she saw the clerk bring up footwear that she intended to give Garrett.
Aline: Oooh, green flipper slippers. So cute. Have 'em gift wrapped.
As Garrett left, Pablo continued about with his work in the kitchen.
Meanwhile in the living room, after having some fun outside, Eric started helping Gordon, Susan, and Miles with decorating the Christmas tree. As they worked, Mike found something.
Mike: Hey, Garrett, look what I found, home movies! It's the Tweenies singing a Christmas song.
Garrett: The Tweenies are British.
Kenny: ...But a US dub aired on Noggin a few years ago.
Caroline: Turn the lights off and roll the film!
The film began.
Milo: (singing) Ya better watch out
Ya better not cry
Fizz: (singing) Ya better not pout
I'm tellin' ya why
Both: (singing) Santa Claus is comin' to town
Bella: (singing) He's making a list
Jake: (singing) And checking it twice
Doodles: (singing) He wants to find out who's naughty or nice
Jake and Doodles: (singing) Santa Claus is coming to town
Izzles: (singing) He sees ya when you're sleeping
Fizz: (singing) He knows when you're awake
Bella: (singing) He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake
Milo/Jake: (singing) Oh, ya better watch out
Ya better not cry
Doodles: (singing) Ya better not pout
I'm tellin' you why
Izzles: Why?
Everyone: (singing) Santa Claus is coming
to town
Suddenly, Claudio appeared through the screen, eating it like mad.
"Claudio!" Gordon, Susan, and most of the ZOOMers exclaimed in annoyance and disbelief.
Eric and the Robinson family also finished decorating the tree with Pablo putting the star on the very top.
Pablo: Well, I think it's safe to say the tree looks perfect.
Eric: I agree.
Gordon: It sure was fun decorating, wasn't it?
Susan: Well, the home movie did help brighten our moods a bit.
Miles: Yeah. It was fun, Pop.
Susan: Sure was, Miles.
Pablo: ...But I didn't recognize the purple and white dog. SHE wasn't on the Noggin dub!
Eric then sang another song as he stared at the newly decorated tree.
Eric: (singing) O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
How lovely are your branches
Pablo: (joins in) O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
How lovely are your branches
Eric/Pablo: (singing) Your shining star
And twinkling lights
They gently glow
Throughout the night
Susan/Gordon: (joins in) O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
How lovely are your branches
Miles: (joins in) Throughout the land
'Round trees of light
We join our hands
On Christmas night
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
How lovely are your branches
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree
How lovely are your branches
Garrett: Hark? What's that I hear?
Pablo: I hear we're going to make some turkey hash!
Everyone listened, and they heard it. Jingle bells coming from outside.
Garrett: No, No, listen. I think I hear carolers!
Yes, it was carolers. The Sesame Street characters were hiking through the snow. They all began to sing along.
Sesame Street characters: (singing) Here we come a-caroling among the leaves so green
Here we come a-wand'ring so fair to be seen
Love and joy come to you
And to you your tidings too
And God bless you and send you a Happy New Year
And God send you a Happy New Year
Kenny and Garrett quickly recognized who they were.
Kenny: It's the Sesame Street gang!
Everyone cheered and clapped as Big Bird came in last.
Big Bird: Merry Christmas from Sesame Street!
Others: Merry Christmas!
Big Bird: (singing) Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Others: (singing) Fa la la la la, la la la la
Cookie Monster: (singing) Tis the season to be jolly
Others: (singing) Fa la la la la, la la la la
Grover: (singing) Don we now our gay apparel
Others: (singing) Fa la la, la la la, la la la
Rosita: (singing) Troll the ancient Yuletide carol
Others: (singing) Fa la la la la, la la la la
Bert: Okay Ernie, you're next.
Ernie: (singing) See the blazing Yule before us
Others: (singing) Fa la la la la, la la la la
Bert: (singing) Strike the harp and join the chorus
Others: (singing) Fa la la la la, la la la la
Oscar: I WILL NOT SING THIS SONG!
Others: (singing) Fa la la, la la la, la la la
Count Von Count: (singing) While I count of Yuletide treasure
Others: (singing) Fa la la la la, la la la la
Big Bird: Your turn, Herry Monster!
Herry Monster: (singing) Fast away the old year passes
Others: (singing) Fa la la la la, la la la la
Telly Monster: (singing) Hails the new, ye lads and lasses
Others: (singing) Fa la la la la, la la la la
Bert and Ernie: (singing) Sing we joyous, all together
Everyone: (singing) Fa la la, la la la, la la la
Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Tis the season to be jolly
Fa la la la la
Fa la la la la
Fa la la la la, la la
Laaaa
Laaaaaaaaa
Everyone laughed and chatted.
Big Bird: Ooh, that was fun. I love carols.
Garrett watched on the front porch with Kenny and they couldn't help but smile.
Garrett: Aw, it's nice to have everyone here. You can feel the peace of the holiday season.
Suddenly they saw everyone running up to the house.
Kenny: Uh-oh.
Garrett: Not again!
They all rushed in like a stampede into the house, a lot of them slipping on the icy patch as they came in. Grover's classic holler could be heard.
Gordon, Susan, Caroline, and Miles watched as the Sesame Street characters came into the house.
Caroline: Well, Robinsons, y'know what this means?
Gordon: Susan, Miles, and I'll have to give up our hammock in the attic, right?
Caroline: Well that, or build bunk beds in the broom closet.
Susan: Right! I'll get to work on it right away.
As the Robinson family walked off, Bert and Ernie stopped in front of Caroline.
Ernie: Hi. We're Ernie and Bert.
Caroline: Well, hi yourself. (shakes hands with Ernie) I'm Caroline.
Bert: Oooh, did you know that Caroline starts with the letter "C"?
Caroline: Why...yes.
Ernie: And yes starts with the letter "Y".
Caroline: True.
Ernie: And true starts with the letter "T"!
Caroline: (chuckles) What's all this about?
Bert: Well, where we come from, this is small talk.
Caroline: Well, whatever ya say. Gordon will make you some bunk beds in the closet.
Ernie: Bunk Beds!
Bert: B Words!
They both laughed.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Eric was extinguishing the turkey which had been burnt.
Eric: I don't understand what happened to that turkey. I only had the dial set at 650 degrees, because Susan said she wanted it weak. (to himself): Go on, Eric! Get goin'!
He opened the door to the living room, where the Sesame Street characters were starting to settle in, chit-chatting with other guests. Pablo was with Zoe on one of the sofa.
Zoe: Y'know, this is shaping up to be an interesting Christmas.
Pablo: Sure is, Zo. But I'm glad to be spending it with you.
Zoe: (blushes) Oh, Pablo. Hearing you say that just makes me wanna sing another classic Christmas carol.
Pablo: Well go right ahead.
Zoe: (excited) Okay, you talked me into it. (sings) It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go
Take a look in the five and ten
Glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Toys in ev'ry store
But the prettiest sight to see
is the holly that will be
on your own front door
A pair of hopalong boots
and a pistol that shoots
is the wish of Barney and Ben
Dolls that will talk
and will go for a walk
is the hope of Janice and Jen
And mom and dad can hardly wait
for school to start again
Pablo: (joins in) It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go
There's a tree in the Grand Hotel
One in the park as well
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Soon the bells will start
And the thing that'll make them ring
Is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart
All while Oscar the Grouch turned on the TV set. Elmo hid in the window curtains.
Oscar: Hey, quiet down, you two. There's a bulletin on TV!
The newsman greeted the viewers.
Newsman: Here's a Boston News Flash. Possibly the worst blizzard in fifty years is approaching us at an alarming rate. The weather service reports that barometers are falling sharply.
No sooner did he say this did barometers actually fall on top of him in a pile. The guests watching the news laughed at what they saw. Suddenly, the Count was counting every snowflake he could see.
Suddenly, Garrett realized something terrible.
Garrett: Oh my gosh, Aline's out there in that storm.
Garrett then turned around and pulled the curtains away so he could take a look at the snow blowing in the wind.
Garrett: (praying) Please, let Aline be okay.
