The second one: Book 1
Part 1: Jak and Korra
With the hundred year war over the world had entered a new era of peace. But as the world keeps moving forward, so does time. When Avatar Aang passed away and the new avatar was born when a baby girl was born in the Southern water tribe, she was named Korra by her parents Tonraq and Senna. But before Aang died he thought back on his past back when he was freed from the block of ice when he met Katara and Sakka. He would have never been able to save the save the world or learn all the elements if it wasn't for his friends and the woman he loved. So he had one wish before he died, that the next avatar wouldn't have the face the responsibility's alone.
So on the fateful night when Korra was born, a baby boy was born as well. He was named Jak by his parents Leo and Elena. Though both parents didn't known it at the time, the two children's life's would be forever changed in a few years time. Years later at the souther water tribe Korra was taking her cub polar bear dog Naga out for a walk. It was a few days after she had revealed to the members of the white lotus that she was the new by demonstrating that she could already bend water, earth and fire.
"Cmon Naga we wont go far, will be back by dinner," she said smiling at her animal companion who only barked as they moved further through the village when she saw some kids having a snowball fight.
"Hey come on that looks like fun," Korra said running over when one of the kids noticed her and smirked as he tossed a snowball at her which she noticed, "Not today," she said while smirking as she blasted it with fire making it fall apart.
"Hey that's cheating," one of the kids said comparing clearly annoyed that she used fire bending.
"It is to fair, it would have hit me had I not gotten read of it, or are you just annoyed that you lost to a girl," said Korra smiling while the boy had thrown the ball looked annoyed.
"Wait I know her, there were members of the white lotus here a few days ago," he said while the other kids looked surprised as they realized the girl was the avatar.
Meanwhile not far away at a stall, a black haired and blue eyed boy noticed what was happening while his mother was talking to the stall owner, "Well if shes the avatar then it should be fair that she should be her own team," one of the kids said smiling as they all picked up snowballs and aiming at them at Korra while Naga shielded her eyes.
"Now come come on, cant we just get along, heh," she said and just when the kids were about to throw, a large pile of snow was thrown all around them making them fall over, "Oh no its him again," one of the boys said as the boy who noticed everything lowered his hands.
"Leave her alone, your being mean by ganging up on her like that," he said walking over as he stood in front of Korra.
"What are you doing here outsider, they shouldn't even let you here, it doesnt matter if your mothers from here," one of the kids said pointing at his skin.
"Yeah I heard one of the fishermen say a criminal from the earth kingdom escaped republic city a few years ago, maybe that's his dad," he said.
"Hey that's not nice, leave him alone," said Korra looking angry as she stood forward while Naga barked in agreement.
"Oh what are you going to do, use your avatar powers against us," said one of the kids laughing before snow ball was thrown at his head by the boy.
"Not alone she wont," he said while smiling, Korra smiled as well as the two of them took a stance and a few moments later the two of them stood victorious as the kids were covered in piles of snow while the two of them laughed.
"That was fun, thanks for you help," said Korra before crossing her arms and pretending to look serious, "Though I could have handled them all by myself,".
"Oh forgive me wise avatar," the boy said doing a fake bow while Naga jumped at him and began licking his face, "Hey cmon, cut it out," he said as he petted the cub.
"That's Naga and sorry I don't think I got your name," she said looking embarrassed that she didn't find out sooner.
"Oh its Jak, me and my parents live outside the village so the only time we come here is when my mom comes to shop," he said smiling while still petting Naga who sat on the ground.
"Wait so you don't have any friends yet?" She asked.
"Its okay, most of my time I spend with my mom when I'm training with my water bending, other times my dad makes sure I don't get hurt," he said as he made a single circle of water move around his hand.
"Cool, so is your dad really a criminal ?" She asked looking worried that she said something wrong.
"No," Jak said smiling, "To me hes a hero, though they had to move back here from Republic city when my mom was having me," he said when his mother stood behind him.
"Jak," she said as the boy looked nervous, "Were you using your bending on these kids again," she said gesturing at the kids who were shaking off the snow. This wasnt the first time he had stopped the group of kids from picking on someone else.
"But I had to, they were all ganging up on the avatar," he said clenching his little fists while his mother sighed before smiling as she moved her hand through her sons hair.
"Just like your father, always sticking up for people but you have to make sure to use your bending for good alright," she said before looking over at Korra, "So you're the avatar,".
"Yes mam," she said before blasting out fire, moving some earth from the ground and then moving around in a circle while water bending, "Though I cant do air bending yet,".
"Don't worry, I'm sure you can do it after all being able to this much now is amazing," said Jak smiling while Korra looked embarrassed by the praise.
"Okay you two that's enough for now, your fathers going to be waiting for us Jak and we don't want to make him hungry now," she said.
"No of course not," said Jak shaking his head while his mother laughed.
"Wait you'll come by again wont you?" Korra asked looking worried which made Jak's mother smile as she crouched to her height.
"You know if I remember right your Sennas daughter," she said which made Korra look surprised.
"You know my mom," Korra said while she smiled.
"Yeah were old friends, which means I know where she lives so I can bring this guy over to play with you oaky," she said while Korra looked excited.
"Yeah," she said and Jak smiled as well.
Keeping her word Jak's mother brought him to Korra's home where and sure enough when the two mothers saw each other they hugged happy to see each other. Jak and Korra would play outside with Naga and even have fun with water bending. Though one evening after a few days had passed since Jak and Korras meeting, Jaks father Leo came over with him and his mother to meet with Korras father Tonraq. The children had to wait outside which didn't bother them since they thought the grown ups were talking about something boring.
"What do you think their talking about in there," said Korra while she and Jak were sitting in the snow.
"I don't know, but my dad looked really worried when he came home from his walk this morning," he said looking worried as he remembered the look on his fathers face when he stood in front of his mother.
"Hey so you want to try bending rocks again," she said laughing while Jak pouted.
"You promised you weren't going to bring that up again," he said while Korra laughed before getting up as she blasted out a fire from her right palm.
"Well why don't you try this one," she said smirking.
"But I'm a water bender not the avatar," he said.
"Come on it will be fun," said Korra laughing while Jak jumped looking determined and pushed his right hand forward. The two of them look surprised as a small bit of smoke shot out from his palm.
"Did you almost," Korra began to say before the door to her house opened revealing her parents and Jaks parents who looked down after the conversation they had.
"I'll send word out immediately, thank you for telling me this Leo," Tonraq said as Leo nodded his head at him before walking over to Jak while leaning on his cane. He had injured his leg a long time ago and hadn't explained to Jak how it happened.
"Cmon its time to go home now," he said smiling as Jak took his hand.
"Bye Korra," he said waving at his friend who waved back at him before his mother took his other hand and they walked home in silence. When Jak looked back at at Korra he noticed her parents leading her inside.
That night as Jak was lying down in his bed, he looked at his right hand as he remembered feeling a deep warmth in it when he shot out the smoke, "Did I almost fire bend, hmm I wonder if I can," he thought as he moved his hand in the air before sitting up straight as small air sphere formed above his palm.
"What," he whispered as he waved his hand making the wind sphere vanish as he reached under his bed taking out a small box of rocks. The only time his parents used them was to see which element he could bend since his dad was an earth bender.
He emptied a few rocks into his hand before closing his eye. A few moments later he opened them and almost gasped as he saw tiny rocks floating above his hand, "Wait I can bend more then just water," he thought before putting the rocks down as he took a stance on the ground.
He focused his heat into his right arm and shot his right fist forward. He then looked surprised as blast of fire shot out, "Whats happening to me," he said before hearing something crash in the living room and his mother screaming.
"Mom," said Jak running to open the door and he looked shocked as he saw a man with long hair standing over his father who had blood coming from his chest while mother stood behind the smashed table with her hands over her mouth.
"Dad," said Jak calling out to his father who looked at him before looking over at his mother.
"Elena take him and run," he said through the pain when the man stepped on his back making him scream.
"So this is the son of the traitors, you gave your beliefs up for your family when you could have helped the world," he said as Elena stood in front of Jak holding his hand as she glared at the man.
"That's before we knew you were crazy Zaheer, what would P"Li think if she knew you were going to kidnap a child," said Elena as she moved water up from the ground.
"There seems to be some misunderstanding, she already knew what we had to to return to this world to its proper form," Zaheer said smiling before Leo tried standing up.
"Your insane," he said before slamming his right fist on the ground making the wall behind his wife and son fall apart, "RUN," he yelled at the two of them before Zaheer stabbed him which Jak saw as his mother pulled him by the arm and ran outside the hole.
"Mom we cant leave him," he said looking up at his mother as they ran through the snow.
"We have to run Jak, find," she said before a knife stabbed her through the back and she fell to the ground while Jak stared at the scene in shock as his mother wasn't moving.
"Mom, whats wrong," he said shaking her shoulders but she didn't move as he felt tears build up in his eyes, "Please say something, don't leave me," he said before he began to cry loudly as the man named Zaheer approached him.
"It's a shame, they were like comrades to me for a time," he said before looking down at the boy, "They held important information for me, where is she, the avatar," he said looking annoyed while Jak look surprised as he saw his house in the distance and his father lying on the ground, not moving like his mother.
"I'm sorry," he said before Jak saw an image of Korra not moving flashed through his mind, his mind instantly rushing to the thought that the bad man wanted to do the same thing he done to his parents to her.
"NOOOO," he screamed as massive air tornado shot up around him.
"Impossible," Zaheer said as flames shot up in front of him, the right side of his face was hit making him scream in pain as the flames along with water merged with the tornado as it grew bigger and it could be seen from the village. All the while Jack screamed inside it as tears poured from his eyes.
Zaheer stood up from the ground holding a hand over his wounded face before, "Don't you dare go anywhere," Tonrag said angrily as he along with Sokka who had noticed the Tornado all the way from his home and Katara was leading a group of water benders to the tornado, while the two of them chased Zaheer before a red dragon landed in front of him.
"Don't move," said fire lord Zuko from the dragongs neck as he ignited flames from his hands.
"I wont go down without a fight," he said before Tonraq hit him in the head from behind him with his weapon. Zaheer fell to the ground as Sokka and the other warriors surrounded him.
"Now all together," Katara said as the water benders all shot fountains of water into the tornado and a few moments later its bottom of half froze while the rest vanished. They brought down the ice to see Jak kneeling next to his mothers body who hadn't been hit by the elements that protected them.
Katara checked the woman's pulse but found none, "Oh no," she said before looking over at the boy as he suddenly fell to the ground on his left side which made her rush over to him.
"Is he okay," said Tonraq rushing over to them while the other warriors restrained the unconscious Zaheer.
"The events were to much for him, he will be asleep for a while," said Katara as Tonraq picked up the boy as one of the warriors walked over to him.
"We checked the home sir, Leo didn't make it," he said as Tonraq looked down at the unconscious boy in his arms with a sad look on his face because he didnt make it in time.
"Korra will be moved shortly, he will be going with her," Tonraq said as he began to move towards his home, "Will look after him until then," he said.
"Are we going to ignore the fact that we saw him bend all the elements around him?" Sokka asked looking serious.
"Then he will be trained too," said Tonraq looking back at him with the same look on his own face.
"I think it's a good idea," said Katara with a smile on her face, "Its what Aang would have wanted, the avatar wont have to face her responsibility's alone," she said with a sad look on her face as an image of Aangs face flashed through her mind.
"Though we will have to wonder how the world will react when they learn that theres a second avatar," he said before smiling, "Katara is right, the two avatars will be there to look out for each other,".
"Thank you, all of you," said Tonraq smiling as he remembered watching Jak and Korra playing with Naga outside his home while laughing. He then left wondering if the boy would ever smile like that again after what he had just seen.
The night later on was difficult for Tonraq as he told his wife that her friend had been killed. Korra had walked into the room when she heard her mother cry over the loss and then she looked worried when she saw her father carrying her unconcious friend.
The next morning Tonraq walked into the living room to see his daughter hugging Jak as he cried over the loss of his parents for hours. Korra was also crying as she felt sad that her friend had lost his parents. The four of them attended a small funeral where the only ones there were Jak, Korra along with her parents and Naga since they were the only ones who really knew them.
The day then came for the two of them to be taken to white lotus compound far away from the village. They began their walk there as Korra pulled Jak along by hand, the boy looked like he was far away as his mind flashed through the images of the night, he just stood there doing nothing.
"Cmon Jak we need to be there soon before theres a storm," Korra said looking worried before getting her parents attention as he fell down into the snow face first.
"Are you hurt?" Penma asked as she watched his shoulders shake.
"Jak," Tornado said before crouching in front of him, "They maybe gone but your memory's of them will always be with you," he said as he watched the boys tiny hands clench in the snow.
"They'll teach me how to bend the other elements right?" He asked as he slowly stood back up.
"Yeah, were gonna learn it together," said Korra smiling but Jak was still looking up at her father as he waited for an answer.
"Yes, though air bending could take a while since Tenzin lives all the way in republic city," saiid Tonraq smiling as Jak lifted his head up with a determined look on his face with tears coming out of his eyes.
"It's alright, I'm going to learn how to bend all four of them so I wont lose anyone ever again," he said.
The four of them along with Naga who was walking between Korra and Jak headed towards the compound. Where Jak and Korras journey to learn how to bend the other elements would begin as the avatars.
