Part 12: Hiroshis betrayal
Jak leaned against the wall of an airship as he held his staff in his right hand. Tenzin and Lin were standing at the front as they looked at the city. Korra was sitting on the ground in front of him while officers stood near the back.
"Are you sure about this, searching the sato mansion like this is a big risk," Tenzin said looking serious.
"I know, with the way Tarloks been speaking if anything goes wrong I could kiss my job goodbye, but keeping the people safe is more important," said Lin before looking at Tenzin with a serious look on her face, "We cant let Amon get his hands on this new weapon,".
Eventually they reached the mansion with Lin and her officers dropping down with their cables, Tenzin using his air bending to slow his landing while Jak gave Korra a lift down with his glider. They ran into the house and the officer kicked down the doors to one of the rooms where they found Bolin, Pabu, Mako and Asami sitting at a table.
"Uh whats going on," said Bolin holding his hands up in the air.
"Don't worry, we found some new information on a secret factory here under the mansion," Lin said stepping forward.
"That's ridiculous theres no such thing," said Asami getting up from her chair starting to look annoyed.
"Then wheres your father now?" Tenzin asked.
"Hes at the back of the house in his workshop," Asami said.
They all went outside, while the officers searched the area Tenzin, Lin, Mako, Bolin, Asami, Korra and Jak headed to the workshop which was a small building. Lin opened the doors revealing an empty room filled with different machines.
"Theres no one here," said Lin when one of the officers walked in.
"Chief we've searched the area, no one has left since we've arrived," he said as they walked around the workshop.
"Maybe were not just seeing things clearly," said Lin standing in the middle of the room and holding her right foot up where the metal shoe went up revealing her barefoot. She then stomped on the ground.
"Shes using the vibration to see," Jak thought.
"Theres a tunnel that goes deep into the mountain," Lin said making Mako, Asami and Bolin look surprised.
"Wait that cant be true," said Asami when Lin brought her arms up, lifting up the ground revealing a tunnel lit up by lights and a small cart at the bottom.
"This cant be right," said Asami looking down.
"Sorry Asami," Korra said.
"Hiroshis probably further down, lets go," said Tenzin as they began walking down the steps.
"Were going too," said Bolin stepping forward.
"No you stay here, officer keep an eye on them," Lin said walking down the steps.
"Yes mam," he said as Jak and Korra walked down the steps and reached the cart that went further down. They eventually reached a path leading to a room with light in it. The group walked through the doorway finding a large room and hanging from the railing above were posters of Amon.
"So its true," said Korra as they looked around the room where they found large metal machines with windows at the top of them. It had arms with three metal fingers.
"These must be the new weapon," said Lin.
"What are they?" Jak asked looking confused.
Then behind them a large metal wall shot up from where they walked in making them look surprised. They ran to the wall where Lin tried to bend it, "That wont work Chief, the wall is made out of platinum, a metal so pure it can not be bended, not even by your mother," Hiroshi said from a speaker.
Jak turned around when the window in the machines lit up and he could see people through them, the one in the middle was Hiroshi Sato. The machines drove over to them.
"That informant was a set up wasn't it," said Lin standing ready to fight.
"Yes, all the lure you down here and you won't be able to bend these mecha tanks either," said Hiroshi.
"So you really were an equalist," Jak said looking annoyed as he took out his staff.
"Get out here so we can," Korra began to say before she was interrupted.
"Or what avatar, face the wrath of your bending no I think ill stay right here where my odds are much better," Hiroshi said as his mech brought its right arm back as they all jumped out out of the way.
Jak stood in front of the mecha tanks that shot a disc at him, he jumped out of the way before sending a blast of air forward pushing it back. He then notices other officers trying to hold one of the mecha tanks arms. He jumped over the mecha tank while putting his staff on his back and opening his water bottle.
He shot out water turning it into an ice shard that cracked through the window, "Thanks," one of the officers said before another mecha tank drove towards them. Jak closed his water bottle sending out another blast of air that pushed the mecha tank back.
He then noticed Korra and Tenzin pushing the mecha tank Hiroshi was in, Jak began to run over when a mecha tank drove in front of him and he recognized the pilot. It was the equalist who wielded the electric batons.
"Not so fast avatar," he said from his speaker as he fired two discs. Jak dodged both of them by jumping and then punched both of his fists forward sending out blasts of fire.
Jak then then watched as Korra was hit by one of the discs and electrocuted before hitting the wall. Then when the mecha tank in front of him tried to grab him, he jumped out of the way and when he landed he pushed both of his hands forward. Sending out a large blast of air that pushed them mecha tank into Hiroshi's.
He and then Tenzin stood in the middle of the room as they used air bending to push one of the mecha tanks back, "This isn't looking good," Tenzin said when one of the discs hit him and shocked him.
"Tenzin," Jak said looking annoyed at the tank that had fired the discs. Jak took a deep breath as he pushed the mecha tank against the wall with a blast of air when another grabbed him and shocked him.
"Ahh," Jak yelled before he fell unconscious.
When he was waking up, "Jak cmon, wake up," said Mako.
"Mako, whats going on," Jak said slowly sitting up as he noticed the equalists putting the officers into trucks. Bolin was trying to wake Lin up as he held up Tenzin.
"No time to talk we need to get out of here," said Mako as he helped Lin up from the ground. Jak then helped Korra up by holding her in his arms.
"Not so fast," said Hiroshi as he heard the sound of an electric glove. They turned around to see Hiroshi wearing two electric gloves while the man wielding the electric batons stood next to him.
"Uh hey Mr Sato, nice underground factory you got here," Bolin said trying to sound calm.
"Nice try, but you wont be leaving here," said Hiroshi.
"Sponsoring us, knowing the avatars it was all an act wasn't it," said Mako looking annoyed.
"Yes it was, but the most painful part was watching my daughter hang around with a fire bending street rat like you," said Hiroshi as a shock went off from his gloves.
"Dad," a female voice spoke up from behind Hiroshi. Hiroshi looked surprised before he turned around to see his daughter who had sad look on her face as she looked at what was happening.
"Asami, I wanted to keep this away from you as long as I could but I guess its better to know now," said Hiroshi looking down.
"Why are you doing this?" Asami asked.
"Asami benders are whats wrong this world, they're the ones who killed your mother the love my life," said Hiroshi stepping closer, "With Amons help we can make this world a better place so no one will have to go through that again," he said taking off one of his gloves and holding it out to Asami.
"I want you to join me," he said making her look surprised.
There were a few moments of silence before Asami grabbed the gloves, "Asami no," said Mako as she put on the glove before looking at her father.
"I love you dad," she said before shocking him with the glove making him fall back. The man wielding the electric batons tried to shock her but she dodged them as well and flipped the man onto the ground. They then ran into a hole Bolin had made with his earth bending, he closed it up after they went through.
They then escaped on the airship, they were on the bridge with Lin resting on one of the benches, "My officers, their on their way to Amon by now, ive failed," Lin said, "Tarlok was right, tomorrow I'm turning in my resignation,".
"No you cant give up, Republic city needs you," said Tenzin looking serious.
"Hes right, in the end we were all tricked not just you," said Jak.
"Don't worry I'm not giving up," she said sitting up, "I'm going to get my officers back and take down Amon, but I'll be doing it my own way outside of the law," she said looking determined.
Jak looked over at Korra who was talking with Mako. Bolin was standing at a window with Pabu sitting on his shoulder while Asami was standing near the back. He walked over to Korra when Mako spoke up.
"Does your offer to stay at air temple island still stand?" Mako asked.
"Of course and Asami is welcome to stay too," Korra said smiling.
"Thank you so much, you too Jak," Mako said.
"Its no problem, shes going to need you now Mako," he said nodding his head at Asami.
Mako nodded his head before walking over to his girlfriend, he placed a hand on her shoulder before she hugged him and he hugged her back holding her close.
"Thanks for carrying me out of there," Korra said smiling at Jak.
"No problem, I'm just glad your okay," Jak said before looking out the window. He then looked surprised when Korra held his hand and rested her head against his shoulder. He noticed the worried look on her face, so instead of saying anything he just held her hand back as they looked at the city.
