Jason sighed as he walked back into Carly's room after talking to her doctor. One full day had passed by. A day since Jason found Carly in her bedroom, bloodied and bruised with her clothes almost fully ripped off. Jason sat in the chair beside Carly's hospital bed with a coffee in his hand as he looked at the bruises that were all over Carly's body, while listening to Carly's slow but somewhat steady heart rate.
Jason thought back to the news he received, he knew that it had been a possibility, but he didn't know that when he found out, it would be this shattering, and he definitely wasn't prepared for the rest of the news. The doctors completed a rape kit on Carly, and the results came back that two sets of DNA were found. Two. Just thinking about it angered Jason. Why would two people rape and beat Carly?
Jason knew for sure that one of them have to be that stupid Dr. Baldwin that Carly had been seeing. Jason realized that Carly must have had a feeling that something was going to happen last night, and that was why she sent the boys away. Why she let him walk out the door. Why didn't he see it then? Any other day, Carly would have wanted to go with him, or jumped at the possibility to hang out with him. Instead she was reluctant.
Jason was furious that someone, no two someones would do this to Carly. He felt a twinge on his heart. He was angry with himself that he failed to protect Carly. That made him sad too. Angry and sad that he couldn't protect his best friend. The person who had been there for him through thick and thin. His Carly. Jason looked up in surprise. Did he just think of Carly as his?
