For a month Alexandria couldn't have a coherent conversation. If she was conscious during that time, it was only for a few minutes and her head was foggy. However for the last week her dosage was on an as needed basis. She was a lot more coherent. Her family stayed for a few days days after Alexandria's dosage was lowered. They'd since gone home at Alexandria's insistence. John however refused to leave. He decided not to take any jobs until she was better. Alexandria was so bored. Due to the severity of the breaks in her legs she wasn't allowed to move. She and John were watching TV. She sighed frustrated.
"What?" John asked.
"Nothing, I'm just bored.
"I know."
"I might as well get used to it though." "I have months of this to go."
"I'll be here with you."
"I know." "That'll be the only thing to get me through." "I can't even get you naked as a fun way to pass the time." She said smiling.
"Well I can still get naked." "You just can't."
"John this is a hospital."
"So, we can lock the door."
"You're crazy."
"It was your idea." "I'm just going with it." She laughed. "I knew I could get you to smile."
"Thank you." "Come here."
"Yes?" He said bending down beside her. She kissed him.
"I love you so much."
"I love you too."
"I've been going over the dates in my head." "I'll be in the rehabilitation hospital on my birthday."
"I know."
"We hadn't made anything final but we were supposed to make plans." "Now we can't."
"No but we can still celebrate your birthday." "Plus I can still do something I have planned."
"What?"
"That's a surprise."
"Ow!"
"Time for more morphine?"
"I think so." She called the nurse to get more. After the nurse left Alexandria looked at John. "If you want to go do something go ahead." "You know this knocks me out."
"I think I'll go to the gym." They kissed. "I love you."
"I love you too." John left. Within a few seconds Alexandria was asleep.
