Mason Atterbery lives in a corrupt and dangerous world. Predators rule the streets and Armies lie in wait. They are said to use weapons from the old Knights Of Hanoi. Mason must travel across different dimensions to find a way to save his already dead world, however he gets more then he bargains for. But the biggest question is: Who is controlling Nero? Set in my own Universe(s)

The Bleeding World

There is a boy. He is lying in bed staring at his ceiling thinking about the world, how cruel his life is. He prepares to get out of his bed his legs stretching onto the floor as his arms widen as if to give someone a hug. He lets off a loud yawn and looks at his clock. It was 6:20 AM, The boy's name is Mason Atterbery, a 15-year-old boy from Oklahoma but currently living in Den city. He is tall and with black hair and blue eyes that are deep and sorrowful, as if he had the world torn from his body. Which he had, his mother was taken by predators and he was left alone to fend for himself. His deceased uncle set up an account which sent a small fee every week to help pay for his food. Mason was on the edge of reason itself. He looked at the deck his uncle left him, it was a very powerful deck, known as the Cyberse deck, and one day Mason would use it to take down the dictator of the world, Nero II. He had done it by bribing his way into the united nations where he killed all of the leaders of the world and ruled the world through his deranged schemes. Masons friends new he wanted to take Nero down, but that was the predator's job, clans of elite duelling warriors who were constantly attacking government property's and buildings and taking back parts of the world such as Europe. It is also said that they used the power of the Knights of Hanoi, an old terrorist group who attacked a virtual world called link Vrains. However, that was destroyed by Nero years ago, killing over a million people in the process. This world that Mason lived in, was not fair, and even the predators who were supposed to help save the world were failing to do so, in fact they were making it worse. Mason just sighed and prepared himself for the day to come.

After getting dressed and breakfasted he walked towards the school. He was currently wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and a dark blue hoodie. Underneath his hoodie was a pendent that his mother had given him. His hair was messily untouched and his eyes still sad. He approached an enormous building, with white pillars and a banner with Nero's dreaded face on it. He saw his friend Joey, nearby and walked over to him, his expression suddenly cheered up.

"hey, Mason" joey waved, happily as ever. Joey was a short boy, with brown hair swept back in a 'charming' way, he wore similar cloths to Mason except his shirt was red not black.

"Hello Joey, how was your weekend?"

"Not bad. yours?"

"Ok"

They high fived each other and walked towards the main entrance to prepare for todays, reasons on why Nero was so 'fantastic'. Their teacher Mr. Burns hated every bit of it, but if he did not teach it, then he would be committing a so-called sin, and would be executed for denial.

"Did you hear the news from last night?" Joey asked

"What news?" replied

"I take it that means no"

"no"

"well anyway, a clan of predators managed to find a government building in den city."

"you mean there here?"

"yeah, we've been told not to go out at night, and let our glorious leader Nero deal with them"

Mason scoffed at the words, "there is nothing glorious about that man, especially after what he did to me"

"chill out dude and keep your opinion to yourself. Otherwise you'll be sinning"

Mason stopped where he was and looked deeply at his friend's eyes, they full of kindness and honesty. He decided to not take the subject any further and was about to apologise when a group of teenage girls ran up to him and joey and started squealing asking for autographs. Joey and Mason were applying for the national competition to become King Nero II's elite duellist army to battle against the predators. Of coarse Mason was doing it for a different reason then Joey.

"Dang, when did we become this popular?" Mason asked

"I have no clue" Joey replied as the two boys scrambled into the main school building and ran off to find Mr. Burn's class.

Mr. Burns had finished registration and was currently going over the list of people who were going through to the final round of the national duel competition. The man was tall with grey hair and a ginger beard. He wore a middle-classed suit and had a gold watch in his pocket. The only names he read out loud were Joey and Mason. Mr. Burns then continued with the next part whilst trying not to scowl.

"And we give thanks to the glorious leader Nero for saving our world from simplicity and dread."

Mason scowled, even heavier than Mr. Burns did. How had Nero 'saved the world'? in fact what had he saved it from. The had burnt half the planet and though it beautiful, destroyed the digital world and executed anyone who had dared to disobey him. Hell did not just exist to Mason. It was reality itself. Lessons droned on and on until about 3:50, when everything ended and Mason along with joey made their way past digital defenders and guards towards the national duel arena which Nero had built.

The stadium was enormous, about the size of 20 football pitches all piled on top of each other and a big space where the duellists themselves went. After handing in their Joey and Mason arrived at the duel arena area which was marked out with a metal cage the size of 4 London busses. The humungous screen above them said who was dulling first. It held up a picture of Mason for all to see. Unbeknownst to everyone else, at a far corner of a stadium their stood 3 figures cloaked in black with blue tattoos resembling their ace monsters on their necks.

"Well, Mason, looks like your first, good luck"

"Thanks Joey" Mason replied

A small box which had an announcer in it came forward. It lit up blue and a picture of Nero's face lit up. And the man inside looked pumped up and ready to watch.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE MOMENT YOU HAVE WAITED FOR IS UPON US! IT'S A RISING STAR MASON VS ONE OF OUR KINGS ELITE ARMY DUELISTS!"

"Dang that was loud!" Mason thought as he placed his duel disk on his arm. His opponent stepped forward, he was very tall with typical black robes and a gold duel disk.

"Good luck kid" he said

"Thanks, you too" Mason replied

"So, you ready?"

"Always!"

"LETS DUEL!" they both shout simultaneously

LP: Mason:4000Challenger:4000

"AND WE'RE UNDER WAY!" the announcer screeched

"I'll go first!" said Mason picking up a card "I summon: Cyberse Wizard!" A cybernetic version of dark magician flung his arms out wide and screeched in attack mode. (Cyberse Wizard ATK:1800 DEF:800)

"Cyberse? This may be trickier than I thought"

"I set 1 card face down and end my turn"

"Not a bad start kid but watch this!" The warrior drew another card and smiled eagerly

"I summon: Gouki suprex!" a lizard with blue armour appeared in attack mode. (Gouki Suprex ATK:1800 DEF:0)

"Gouki… at least it's not Dinowrestlers"

"I activate suprex's effect, it lest me summon Gouki Twistcobra from my hand!" A snake with green armour then materialized next to suprex" (Gouki Twistcobra ATK:1600 DEF:0)

"Wow" Mason looked unimpressed

"Next, I activate Gouki headbutt's ability in my hand, by discarding another Gouki monster I can summon him by giving suprex 800 more attack points!" A purple lizard in armour then appeared next to Twistcobra (Gouki Suprex ATK:1800-2600) (Gouki Headbutt ATK:800 DEF:0)

"Oh boy"

"I LINK SUMMON! APPEAR LINK 3- GOUKI THE GREAT OGRE!" An ogre wielding an enormous axe appeared in attack mode swinging its cloak behind itself, its arrows all pointing down. (Gouki The Giant Ogre ATK:2600 LINK-3)

"Not this again…"

"Thanks to the effect of all my monsters, I can add 3 new Gouki cards to my hand!" He added the cards to his hand and then smirked.

"Are you done yet?"

"No, I activate mystical space typhoon! With it I destroy your face down!"

"Uh oh" Mason suddenly looked a bit nervous.

"Then my Great ogre forces all your monsters to lose attack equal to their defence!" (Cyberse Wizard ATK:1800-1000)

"Now, Great ogre will attack Cyberse Wizard" Cyberse wizard was incinerated as Mason flinched at the damage

LP: Mason: 4000-2400

"I end my turn"

"Oh, is that it? Well then… my move, I draw"

"I summon Linkslayer!" A Monster with gold beast like armour pounced into attack mode (Linkslayer ATK:2000-1400 DEF:600)

"he may be strong, but my Great ogre's ability weakens all your monsters"

"I know summon Widget Kid!" A young cybernetic child hopped onto the field (Widget Kid ATK:1500-600 DEF:900)

"how lame, I thought you were supposed to be good"

"Widget Kid's ability lets me summon another Cyberse monster from my hand, so I'll summon Garbage Collector!" A small robot with two scissor like arms appeared next to widget kid. (Garbage Collector ATK:100-0 DEF:900)

"Now that's what I call trash… WAIT!"

"I link summon! APPEAR LINK 3- DECODE TALKER!" A blue and purple warrior burst up from the ground wielding a golden sword and gold lining around its body. Its link arrows pointed up, bottom left and bottom right. (Decode Talker ATK:2300 LINK-3)

"I admit kid, you had me worried for a sec, but you wasted your move on a pile of garbage!"

"Since I control a Cyberse monster I can summon Backup Secretary!" A women dressed in purple, along with a purple cape hovered onto the field. (Backup Secretary ATK:1200-400 DEF:800)

"Why would you do that?"

"I link summon again! I use the link 3 decode talker and my back up secretary! APPEAR LINK 4- ACCESSCODE TALKER!" A monster very similar to decode talker jumped up from the ground, instead of having purple and gold, this monster had white and gold, it carried a large spear and seemed to be twice the size of decode talker. (Accesscode Talker ATK:2300 LINK-4)

"What difference does it make? Great Ogre is still stronger"

"Not after I activate Accesscode Talker's effect, it gains 1000 ATK points per the link rating of a link monster in my graveyard!" (Accesscode Talker ATK:2300-5300)

"Oh no!"

"Oh yes, and by banishing a link monster in my graveyard, it can destroy a card on your field! I banish decode talker and destroy your Great Ogre!" Accesscode Talker lifted up its spear and plunged it into Gouki The Great Ogre, then with the hand that it had free it clenched its fist, and the ogre blew up into pixels"

"NO!"

"Now GO! ACCESSCODE TALKER, ATTACK HIM DIRECTLY!" The great monster swivelled round and swung its leg into the back of Mason's Challenger sending him flying back in pain clutching his ribs"

LP: CHALLENGER:4000-0000

The announcer got up from his chair where he was watching and yelled that Mason was the winner.

"well done Mason, although, you have had better duels"

"Shut up, you couldn't have done better"

"well we'll just see about that, it's my turn now!"

"NOW ITS JOEY THE LEGENDERY SECURITY DREAM VS ANOTHER OF OUR KINGS ELITE DUELISTS" The announcer sat back down in his chair preparing for the battle ahead. Both joey and his challenger shook hands and shuffled each other's decks. Joeys challenger was also wearing the signature black robes of Nero's army and had a silver duel disk, he looked young, and seemed to be very friendly. He was introduced as Evan.

"Best of luck to you" he said

"Thanks, you too" Joey replied

"DUEL!" They both yelled once again simultaneously

LP: EVAN:4000JOEY:4000

"I'll let you go first" Joey said invitingly

"Will do, I summon Dinowrestler Capoiraptor!" A dinosaur with a large claw on its feet and wrestling cloths appeared onto the field, letting off a small roar as it did so. (Dinowrestler Capoiraptor ATK:1800 DEF:0)

"Not bad"

"Then I'll end my turn"

"My turn, I draw! I activate the spell card Security Force Showdown! Now I can special summon a security force monster from my hand in defence position!"

"Uh oh!"

"I summon Security Force Rappa Chiyomaru from my hand!" An angel like monster with black wings flew onto the field. (Security Force Rappa Chiyomaru ATK:800 DEF:1000)

"At least it's in defence"

"I now tribute my Rappa Chiyomaru, in order to tribute summon Security Force Pla=Tina" A smart looking women with long silver hair and purple clothing jumped onto the field opposite Capoiraptor. (Security Force Pla=Tina ATK:2200 DEF:2000)

"Why would he put it directly in front of my Capoiraptor?"

"Pla=Tina attack his Capoiraptor!" Pla=Tina launched her foot into capoiraptor's face as it capoiraptor lost its balance. "Oh, and by the way, when my Pla=Tina attacks your monster whilst it faces it in the same zone, your monster loses 600 ATK!" (Dinowrestler Capoiraptor ATK:1800-1200)

LP: EVAN:4000-3000

"My capoiraptor also has an effect, it can't be destroyed in battle whilst in attack position"

"What?"

Pla=Tina's foot was then caught by Capoiraptor's claws and pulled down as she returned to Joey's field and Capoiraptor switched to defence.

"Oh yeah, when this effect is used Capoiraptor switches to defence mode"

"I end my turn with a face down card"

"My move I draw! And, during my standby phase, the effect of capoiraptor summons a second one from my deck!" (Dinowrestler Capoiraptor ATK:1800 DEF:0) A second Dinosaur the same as capoiraptor appeared.

"What?"

"Next I summon Dinowrestler Capaptera" A wrestler resembling a Pteranodon glided onto the field. (Dinowrestler Capaptera ATK:1600 DEF:0)

"Three monsters?"

"I LINK SUMMON! APPEAR LINK-3: DINOWRESTLER KING T. WREXTLE" A enormous T. Rex resembling creature appeared onto the field. It was black with some red outlines and a skull on its back acting almost like a trophy. Its arrows all pointed down. (Dinowrestler King T. Wrextle ATK:3000 LINK-3)

"A link 3 with 3000 attack points?

"Next the Capaptera which went to my graveyard effect activates: The monster that it was used to summon gains 1000 attack points until the end of the turn!" (Dinowrestler King T. Wrextle ATK:3000-4000)

"Wow that thing is strong!"

"Now my King T. Wrextle will attack your Pla=Tina!" The dinosaur prepared to crush its opposition with its huge, clawed hands.

"I activate my trap-"

"-no, you won't because when King T. Wrextle attacks your spells and traps can't activate!"

"WHAT?"

The dinosaur lowered its hand and a massive explosion happened as Joey was sent flying back from the damage. LP: JOEY:4000-2200

"I end my turn, which means King T. Wrextle's attack points return to 3000. (Dinowrestler King. T Wrextle ATK:4000-3000)

"My move then, I draw!, I activate Monster reborn! With I'll summon back my Pla=Tina!"

"Oh great"

"Next, I activate: Security call, with it I can special summon 2 security force monsters from my deck!"

"What?"

"I summon 2 Security Force Orifice!" Two men looking like cowboys and wielding guns appeared onto the field. (Security Force Orifice ATK:1800 DEF:1000)X2

"I know what's next"

"I LINK SUMMON! APPEAR LINK-3 SECURITY FORCE JUSTIFY!" A robot with orange and black armour appeared onto the field. It had green orb like spheres in its joints and its shoulders stretched into a pair of wing like features. Its arrows all pointed up. (Security Force Justify ATK:2600 LINK-3)

"Uh oh"

" I activate Justify's effect, with it I can move your dino to a zone that Justify points to and negate it's effects!"

"NO!"

"Now go, Attack his King T. Wrextle!"

"But why? King T. Wrextle is stronger"

"When Justify attacks, it can banish all monsters it points!"

"WHAT!" To Evans horror Justify Teleported towards King T. Wrextle and Grabbed the beast by it is face as it vanished into thin air.

"Lastly I activate De-Link! Thanks to split my Justify back into 3 monsters!" Justify disappeared and it was replaced with the 3 original monsters.

"Oh No!"

"Now I attack you directly with both my Orifices and Pla=Tina!" The three monsters kicked and punched at Evan as he fell to the floor defeated.

LP: Evan:3000-0000

Mason jumped over to joey as they both high fived each other. The announcer jumped up from his chair and shouted that both Mason and Joey had passed, and the unknown figures walked away. Joey and Mason then both left the building after a bit of celebrations.

Mason had walked straight home after the duel and Joey decided to go to his girlfriend's house to celebrate his great success. On the way however he was stopped by a boy around 15 years of age. He had blonde hair, but his face was covered by a black mask. He wore a long trench coat and beneath was a jacket made of leather and a cravat. On his neck there was a Dinosaur like monster. Behind joey there were also two other men who looked to be much older than the boy. The boy spoke up with a British accent most displeased with the men behind joey.

"Stop! I can deal with him myself!"

"Stay back!" Joey screeched. Sweat was dripping down his head. That is when he realised, he had walked into a predator's trap.

In a very large office, in an enormous tower about 1 mile tall there sat a man. He was wearing a black business suit and had no hair. This man was a cruel un-willing person. This man was a treacherous murderer. This man was King Nero II. He just sat there sipping a glass of wine. Next to him stood a small cybernetic AI figure. It was yellow and its head resembling something of a lightning bolt. It spoke softly.

"You are sure this burns are correct?"

"It would appear so, there is another dimension, much different to this one" Nero replied swilling his wine about. He spoke with a posh millionaire voice.

"And he knows how to get to it?"

"He does"

"Very well then I accept your proposal, take him"

"Excellent, these predators are now not are target then? Instead we focus on invading other dimensions!"

So, that is the first chapter of Yugioh The Edge of Reason. I have decided to stop doing a second hero simply because I did not really like it, I made many mistakes. And when I did it, during the time of finishing chapter 2 my Grandad passed on. It made me deeply upset and so I decided to stop doing fanfics for a while. But this story in particular, well there are going to be several different objects which can change the world of chaos I just created, and it's the main protags job to find them, although he may, as you read at the end, have to go through different dimensions. I wont spoil anything else though. I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I hope it was better then my previous work. But please tell me what to improve on with CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. Thank you.

SECURITY CALL- Normal spell card

Special summon 2 Security Force Monsters from your deck in face up attack position. They have their effects negated and are destroyed during the end phase.
