"Duel" – Duel Spirit talking

*** POV change

- Time break in same POV

After his Duel with Roger, Luke decided to head back to his dorm room to rest. His roommates weren't there when he got in bed. He wanted to sleep off what had happened.

Sleep was the last thing he got, though. Instead, in a flash of light, Luke was one again brought back to the altar. This time though, almost everything was destroyed. Chairs were overturned or burned. The aisle rug was burned in different spots. And craters littered the area, as well as the stage.

Luke looked around for any of the people he saw the last time. He spotted Solder's copy, but this time his armor was damaged. Next to him, was Luke's copy, not in any better shape. Luke noticed the Flame Swordsman Copy using his sword as a crutch.

Luke looked away from the warriors and found the cause of the destruction. On the other end of the destroyed altar, were an army of Duel Monsters. Fiends, Pyros, Reptiles, Beasts and Zombie-types were in formation. Their numbers were many, but chunks were missing. Luke guessed he was seeing the aftermath of a battle.

"I'm sorry, M'lord," Soldier's copy said. "We weren't strong enough."

"No, it's alright, my friend," Luke's copy said with a smile. There was trail of blood running along the side of his face. "We did our best."

"Our best was not good enough!" Swordsman's copy yelled in anger. He was struggling to stay upright. "We must rescue the Princess!"

When Luke heard that, he looked around for Sierra's copy. She was nowhere to be found. Something told Luke she was already gone, but he wasn't sure how he knew.

"I'm sorry my friends," Luke's copy said, standing as straight as he could. "I wish for you to tell the Princess: I'm glad we aren't officially married. This way, she won't already be a widow."

Luke's copy raised his sword and took a very weak stance. He charged towards the enemy army, as his allies called out for him to stop. The two warriors were worried, but their injuries hampered their ability to move.

"My, my what foolishness," This new voice startled all four men, causing Luke's copy to stop in his tracks. "To think this wedding was stopped. I was looking forward to a new alliance."

Out of a plume of darkness walked out a figure in all black armor. Gold lined the edges of any breaks. A flowing red cape was on his back. The black spiked helmet covered his face.

"I'd rather not have my new allies die before meeting them," the armored figure said. Luke felt like he recognized the voice. "So, I'll help you, to show my loyalty."

The armored man walked past Luke's copy, up to the army of opposing monsters. With a wave of his hand, dark flames consumed the opposing army, until there was nothing left.

"Hmph, what a pathetic waste of space. These morons gave you a challenging time. I may have to reconsider this alliance."

"Who are you?" Luke's copy asked, still shocked by the events that just transpired.

The armored man removed the face mask of his helmet. Now it was Luke's turn to be shocked. The armored man had the face of Jaden Yuki. The only notable difference were the man's golden eyes.

"I am Haou. But you can call me the Supreme King." -

Luke woke up to the moon high in the sky. He heard both of his roommates snoring. Luke could tell it was early into the night if the moons position was anything to go from.

He got out of bed and headed for the door. Before reaching it, Soldier appeared in front of him. Luke turned his back to his partner before speaking.

"Did you see my dream?"

"No, I did not," Soldier replied. "But I have a feeling about what you are going to do. Please don't go."

Luke walked to his desk. He removed his Slifer jacket and placed it on his chair. He opened the bottom drawer of the desk and pulled out a black cloak. He tied on the cloak and grabbed a mirror in the drawer. He watched as his eyes turned from silver to black.

"You'll be staying here," Luke told Soldier, "I don't want to hurt you."

Before Soldier could argue, Luke pulled his card from its deck box and placed it on his desk. He quickly grabbed his Duel Disk and PDA. Luke left his room quietly and accessed the message program on the PDA. Sending a quick message to Roger, he headed for the school's main building. ***

Jaden yawned as he laid on his bed. He was watching his roommates Syrus and Chumley duel. He wanted a turn but had chosen to sit out for the round.

As he watched them duel, he felt a disturbance. He noticed it was a spike of dark energy. Jaden wasn't sure what was causing it, but knew he had to check it out.

"Yubel," he whispered.

The spirit appeared behind Syrus. "I feel it. There is a spike of energy. But it's a little hard to tell who it is coming from. I can only lead you to the general area. You have to search on your own from there."

"Got it," he said jumping from his bed. "Hey fellas, I'm going out for a bit. Have fun and let me know who wins."

The two nodded in reply as Jaden left the room. Once he was outside, his eyes flashed gold and then turned to Yubel's eyes. He looked around for the dark energy he felt. When he found the area, he ran towards it as fast as he could. -

It didn't take long for Jaden to reach the energy spike. He was near the entrance of the Academy's main building. He noticed two people standing outside. One he recognized as an Obelisk Blue student, who looked very mad.

The other was a young man in a black cloak. There was no way to tell what dorm he belonged to. Jaden could tell he was the cause of the Darkness that he felt.

Staying hidden, Jaden watched the confrontation. Apparently, the Blue had expected an apology from a Slifer, not the cloaked boy. The boy's response was lifting an Academy Duel Disk. The Blue responded in kind. He yelled that after he won, the cloaked boy would be expelled.

Jaden watched as the Duel started. The cloaked boy went first. He played two face downs and then summoned the monster Koumori Dragon. Jaden thought it was a good opening move. He knew the Obelisk wouldn't attack with such an obvious trap. He was proven wrong.

As the Obelisk drew his card, Jaden saw him smirk. He played his own Koumori Dragon. Since the monsters were the same, they had the same Attack. When the attack was completed, both monsters would have been destroyed in a stalemate.

Both Jaden and the Obelisk were surprised when the cloaked boy played the Trap, Crush Card Virus, along with the Spell card Shrink. The spell halved the cloaked boy's dragon's attack. And Crush Card infected the dragon with a virus. Once it was destroyed, the virus spread to the Obelisk's hand and Deck.

Jaden was disturbed. The Crush Card Virus was an illegal card. Who would knowingly use a card that was banned from tournaments? Jaden wanted to find out as a detective.

The Obelisk Blue ended his turn with a face down card. The cloaked boy drew his next card. Even with his hood, Jaden could tell he was smiling.

The boy started off his turn by using Monster Reborn. He chose his Koumori Dragon from his Graveyard. The boy then special summoning Gilasaraus. This method allowed his opponent to summon a monster from his Graveyard. The Obelisk chose Axe Dragonute. The cloaked boy smiled, before he sacrificed both his monsters to summon a Cosmo Queen.

Even with its attack strength it wouldn't win the Duel. Jaden was wondering why the boy was still smiling. He understood when the next card was played. The boy played another banned, Change of Heart. When it appeared, the Obelisk's Axe Dragonute shifted positions on the field.

The cloaked boy command Axe Dragonute to attack the Obelisk's Koumori Dragon. He then had Cosmo Queen strike directly. It wasn't enough, but the Obelisk looked hurt.

The Obelisk boy took his turn. He looked distressed but placed a monster in face-down defense.

The cloaked boy drew his next card but didn't look at it. He pointed at the face down, commanding Cosmo Queen to attack it. When it was destroyed, The Axe Dragonute dashed through the smoke and pixels and cut down the Obelisk. The Blue screamed out as if he was in pain and fell backwards. The holograms faded as the cloak boy started to walk away.

Jaden didn't know what was going on, but he knew he couldn't let the boy walk away. He jumped out of his hiding spot and caught the boy's attention. "Where do you think you're going?" he asked glaring at the cloaked boy. His Yubel eyes glowed.

"No, there is no way," he heard the cloaked boy say. "You should be dead, Supreme King."

Jaden and Yubel were shocked. Neither was sure who the boy was or how he knew Jaden was the Supreme King. Jaden wanted answers and he knew just how to get them.

"I challenge you to a Duel," Jaden called.

The cloaked boy nodded and positioned himself. Jaden grabbed the fallen Obelisk's Duel Disk and strapped it on. As he put his deck in, Winged Kuriboh cooed at him.

"Don't worry, buddy," Jaden reassured the winged fuzzball, "We'll win, no matter what."

"Let's Duel!" the cloaked boy said.

"Get your game on!" Jaden replied ***

Sierra was sleeping peacefully in her dorm. Seeing Luke win his Duel put her at ease. It was weird, because she even when she had crushes, she was always hyper. Luke made her feel complete, which eased her heart.

Her dreams seemed to reflect that. She was walking down the aisle of a wedding ceremony. She was in a beautiful white dress with red trim. She looked ahead and saw Flame Swordsman, though his armor was red where it was normally blue. Sierra noticed a Black Luster Soldier on the opposite of him, but the armor was silver instead of black.

The one person that made Sierra's heart skip a beat was the man in the center. Dressed in a dark blue tuxedo was Luke. Though his hair was longer, it was the same black as she remembered. His eyes were silver and mesmerizing.

Sierra was positive it was a dream. Yet part of her wished it was real. Everyone along the aisle were smiling as she walked by. She felt like she was the luckiest girl in the world.

That was until the roof above the altar blew up. Sierra looked up in shock. A few Fiend-type monsters appeared where the hole did.

When the monsters descended, Sierra woke up. She was drenched in sweat. Sierra didn't realize until after she woke up how scared she was.

"Princess, are you okay?" Flame Swordsman asked, kneeling. "You look unwell."

"I'm okay," Sierra said, smiling. "Just a very shocking dream."

Flame Swordsman watched as Sierra got up and dressed. She put on a track suit over her pajamas and tied up her hair. She grabbed her deck belt and strapped it on.

"Where are you going Princess?" Swordsman asked. "And why do you have your deck?"

"Oh, this? I feel better with my deck on me. And who knows when I get a chance to Duel anyone."

"I guess that's…"

Flame Swordsman stopped midsentence. His head snapped towards the window. He had a look of shock on his face.

"What's wrong?" Sierra asked.

"There is Darkness," was the answer. "Not just one though. Two different Darkness are clashing. Why do they both seem familiar?"

"Let's go check it out!" Sierra said happily. "I bet there's am awesome Duel going on."

Sierra snuck out of her room. she made sure no one saw her. Due to the rules of the dorm, if she got caught, she'd be in trouble. When she was out, she followed Swordsman's directions.

She headed for the disturbance Swordsman felt. It led them to the main academy building. What she saw was a surprise.

In front of the building was a Duel. On one end was a boy in a black cloak. His face was obscured thanks to the hood. On the other end, in front of a fallen Obelisk student, was Jaden Yuki. There was a slight difference to the Slifer that Sierra couldn't figure it out. The two were locked in an intense Duel.

"Who are those two Milady?" Swordsman asked. "Neither seem familiar to me."

"The boy in the hood, I don't know," Sierra whispered. "But the brunette boy is Jaden Yuki. He's a Red like Luke. I heard Lex talk about him once. I think he was the one to beat Crowler."

"Both seem strong," Swordsman observed. "They seemed to be matched evenly."

"Yeah. But I have a weird feeling." ***

Jaden was in a tight spot. He only had 1000 Lie Points left. His opponent's Crush Card Combo didn't do much to his deck, since a lot of his monsters were low in Attack points. But he was having a hard time getting what he needed. He had lost a few monsters through battle. He was able to land a few hits on his opponent though. The cloaked boy was currently at 2500.

It was Jaden's turn. The card he drew was Winged Kuriboh. The only other card in his hand was Polymerization. He had a Trap on his Field.

The opponent had no monsters, but a trap as well. So, Jaden decided to play it safe.

"I summon Winged Kuriboh in defense mode," he called. The flying fuzzball appeared and bounced around a bit. It seemed happy. "That's not someone we know buddy. He's an enemy."

Kuriboh cooed in protest.

Yubel appeared next to Jaden. "It looks like the furball disagrees. But we can't tell who he is with that hood. We need to get it off."

"I know," Jaden said. "I'll end my turn."

The cloaked boy drew his card. "I'll active the effect of two Gilasaurus in my hand. I Special Summon both. In exchange, you can revive a monster from your Graveyard for each one."

Jaden thought about which monsters to pick. "I choose Avian and Burstinatrix." On cue, both monsters appeared next to Jaden.

The first monster was a man in green He had bird talons for feet, with a talon like weapon on his left hand. A green headpiece with a red eye mask was donned on his head. On his back were giant white wings. (E-HERO Avian ATK 1000 DEF: 1000)

The other monster was a woman in a red skin-tight suit. She had red fingerless elbow gloves and red boots. Keeping her white tipped gray hair in check was a gold crown with a green gem. (E-HERO Burstinatrix ATK: 1200 DEF: 800)

On the cloaked boy's field two identical dinosaurs roared. (Gilasaurus X 2 ATK: 1400 DEF: 400) Jaden's heroes tried not to show their fear.

"Now face defeat," The boy laughed. "I sacrifice my two monsters to summon Cosmo Queen."

The Queen appeared with robes flowing. Her face was void of emotion. (C.Q. ATK: 2900 DEF: 2450)

"Attack his Burstinatrix," The cloaked boy announced, "Cosmic Nova!"

The Cosmo Queen aimed a ball of space energy at the red clad heroine. Burstinatrix looked at Jaden and nodded.

Jaden nodded back and sprung his Trap. "I activate the Trap Card, Hero Barrier. This negates any attack launched towards my Hero monsters."

A blue spinning shield appeared before the female Hero. It stopped the space energy in its track. The cloaked boy growled, before ending his turn.

Jaden drew his next card, hoping for a miracle. The card he drew was just what he needed. "I play the Field Spell: Skyscraper."

The area around the Duelists turned into a city block. Tall buildings surrounded them. In between them, to the side, stood a tall skyscraper in front of the moon.

"Next, I play the Spell, Polymerization. With this I Fuse Avian and Burstinarix…" Both monsters jumped into a vortex that appeared above Jaden. "To Fusion Summon! Elemental HERO Flame Wingman." (E-HERO Flame Wingman ATK: 2100 DEF: 1200) Jaden's green and red Hero appeared before him. Wingman seemed ready to go. And Jaden was willing to comply. "Let's go Wingman. Attack his Cosmo Queen."

"Are you nuts?" the boy called. "Your Hero is weaker than my Queen."

"True, but with Skyscraper, any HERO attacking a monster stronger than it gains 1000 Attack Points."

The winged Hero jumped to the top of the pointed building. He shined with the moonlight behind him. The light caused his Attack Points to rise. (Flame Wingman ATK: 2100 + 1000 = 3100)

"Go Wingman! Sky Dive Scorcher!" Jaden called.

On cue, the green and red Hero jumped from the building. Using the dragon head, it coated itself in flame. Wingman headed straight for the Queen and Slashed her in half. With a scream, she exploded in tiny golden triangles.

Cloak: 2500-2300

"Is that all?" The cloaked boy laughed. "That was barely a scratch."

He stopped laughing when Flame Wingman stood in front of him. The dragon head was pointed at him.

"No, because Wingman is able to deal damage equal to the Attack of any monster he destroys in battle. And your Queen had a whopping 2900, meaning this Duel is over."

Wingman let loose a stream of fire from the dragon's maw. Even though it was a hologram, the force of the blast knocked off the boy's hood. Jaden was shocked when he saw the face.

As the holograms faded, Jaden saw Luke Taylor standing before him. Before he could say anything, another voice called from a nearby bush. Jaden was shocked to see Sierra Johnson run up to them. Beside he was a Duel Monster, the Fusion Monster Flame Swordsman.

Jaden was thoroughly confused about the current situation. He wasn't sure how Sierra knew Luke or how she had a Duel Spirit, but he would question her after he questioned Luke.

"The King and the Princess," Luke said darkly, "Too bad. I'm not the Knight you remember." He drew a card and placed it on his Duel Disk. His Cosmo Queen appeared next to him. She fired a blast of space energy at the ground, causing a dust cloud. When the cloud disappeared, Luke was gone.

Jaden's eyes turned back to brown. He turned to Sierra, who was on the verge of tears. Her Swordsman was trying to comfort her.

"Miss Johnson," Jaden said, kneeling next to the girl. "I know this may be rough for you, but I want to ask you a few questions tomorrow."

Sierra nodded. She got up and headed back to her dorm. Jaden followed suit, heading to the Slifer Dorm.

"Well, things just got confusing." Yubel stated.

"Yeah they have," Jaden said with a sigh. ***

And there we go, Duelists! If you have more questions than answers, then I did my job as a writer well XD!
But in all honesty, things are getting heated at the Academy. Connections and fissures, how will the students handle them? I guess we'll find out next time.
