Youthintruth: The Dragon-cycle? Yeah, I should add Nachos…probably…don't know why.
Joseftanti: Good to know.
Please enjoy the next chapter.
The five stepped through the front door of the Butterfly house to see eight adults sitting in the living room. The eight looked up and Moon spoke, "Boy, we heard that you got into an argument with the principal an-"
"I'm not apologizing," Marco crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes, "I chose to hit that moron, no one told me to do so, and the egg man was going to punish them for it, so I told him to punish those who start the problems rather than going after people around them. I also told him that he has to earn respect. I don't care if he's in a position of power, if he wants respect, he has to earn it,"
"Are you mad, boy?" River hissed, "Are you trying to get in trouble? Do you want to go through an Evil-Cycle an-"
"Like I told you and your wife this morning, it's far too early for me to go through another Evil-Cycle, so the odds of that happening were low and even still, there's nothing no one can so what that hap-" a pure white dove flew past the teenagers and landed on a side table before looking up, staring directly at Marco and Marco's eyes widened.
The room fell silent before Sabrina asked, "Marco? Do you know this bird?"
"It's a Devine Dove, they, like Ranked Owls giving demons their ranking, give angels theirs,"
"But there are no angels he-" before Henry could finish, Marco looked up with a hardened expression, "But you're only half angel an-"
"Still technically an angel. Even though I'm part demon, the Dove still sees my angel side, and even though I'm banished from both heaven and hell, I still deserve a ranking," Marco looked down at the bird in front of them and took a deep breath, "I'm guessing you're here for me, right?" the dove cooed before sticking its chest out, revealing a small pouch, "Right…should've seen this coming," lifting his left hand, Marco reached into the small pouch before the dove screeched in terror and flew past the teenagers and out of the house.
Everyone stared at Marco in silence as he stared down at the newly acquired brass ring dawning around his middle finger with wide eyes, "Marco? What's…your ranking as an angel?" Star slowly asked and Marco shook his head, "Is something wrong?"
"Yeah, and what's with the new accessory?" Brittney commented, looking down at the ring.
Marco ignored her and Ashley stepped forward, "Is there something special about that ring? Do you not know what it is?"
"This…this is," Marco held his left hand up, showing the ring to all, "This is the Brass Ring of Humility, given to the one who truly deserves to wear it…but why was it given to me?"
"Maybe it was some sort of mistake? Maybe that bird will come back an-"
"The Devine Dove and the Ranked Owl cannot be manipulated or persuaded in any way, shape or form. They give the ranks out as they see fit…but I'm wondering why I was given the Brass Ring of Humility. I told all of you my true intentions and…why?" without waiting for a response, Marco turned and walked out of the house with Star, Brittney, Ashley and Sabrina following close behind him.
The five walked around the park as Marco glared down the ring with a hardened expression crossing his face, "So…what um…what's going to happen?" Sabrina asked and Marco looked back in slight confusion, "You seemed upset when that dove gave you that ring…is it going to go back to heaven to report it and is an angel going to come down here and take the ring back?"
"That'll be easier said than done," Marco took a deep breath and shook his head before looking back at the ring, "The Ring of Humility is hard to obtain by any angel, but once they receive it and it's placed on their finger, they're stuck with it for life…but what I'm trying to remember is the story of the Ring of Humility. The only thing I remember is once it's put on, it can't come off." Marco sighed and looked up at the sky and narrowed his eyes, "The only question I really have is why the hell was I given the Ring of Humility?"
"Maybe the dove trusts you with it," Star spoke and the four looked at her as she shrugged her shoulders and shook her head, "You said so yourself, the ring is hard to obtain by any angel, so maybe that dove trusts you with it," Marco narrowed his eyes as he turned and began walking away, "What? Do you have a better idea?" Marco ignored her as he continued to walk off and the four continued to follow him.
Time slowly passed and Marco sat on the front step outside of the Butterfly house, glaring down at the ring that dawned his finger with narrowed eyes, "The Brass Ring of Humility? Why was this given to me?" he chuckled and shook his head, "What next? The Ranked Owl is going to show up and give me the Golden Ring of Solomon?"
"What's that?" he jumped and looked back to see Star walking out of the house before she sat down next to him and hugged her knees to her chest, "Marco, what's the Golden Ring of Solomon?" Marco narrowed his eyes and stared out towards the street, "Marco, what is the Golden Ring of Solomon?"
"It's a demon artifact, similar to the Brass Ring of Humility for angels, once a demon receives the Golden Ring of Solomon, they're stuck with it for life…outside of that, I don't know much about that ring either," Marco sighed and shook his head as a small frown formed across Star's lips as Marco groaned and looked up at the sky, "This is the down side of being in detainment. I only heard small portions of the legend of the Ring of Humility, and I only heard small portions on the Ring of Solomon too…not saying that I'll get it, but on the off chance it does happen…I'm going to be completely lost and have no idea what to do,"
Star sighed as she looked up at the sky, "You could probably sneak back into heaven and sneak down to hell to get some books on the rings…that's the only thing I can think of,"
Marco inhaled slowly before he stood up and shook his head, "You're a naive fool, Star,"
"Excuse me!"
"I can't go to either heaven or hell and trying to sneak in would prove difficult and I want to be the first time I sneak in be the time I take over heaven and hell. I told you my intentions and I'm not going to have them ruined just for a couple of scrolls that might prove useless to me," he reached over and patted the top of her head and Star's eyes widened, "But thanks for trying to help," Star slightly smiled as she closed her eyes and hummed and nodded.
I've got nothing more to add in this chapter. Enjoy.
