It had only been a few hours since Luz Noceda the human had saved her witch mentor Eda from Emperor Bellos imprisoning her in stone and had escaped with her alongside Eda's sister Lilith and her demon companion King.
And thanks to Lilith, Eda returned to her normal witch form but nothing from there would never be the same again.
Eda was normal, yes, except for a few major differences. Her hair became more white and one of her eyes was gray. And now she couldn't even do magic at all.
The same effect took over for Lilith who had used the sharing spell to make up for what she did to her sister many years ago just to earn a spot in the emperor's coven and now also had one gray eye and her hair started to turn gray as well with a visible stripe. She would suffer the same pain as Eda and likely turn into an owl beast too.
However, Luz Noceda was not discouraged by the fact that Eda couldn't do magic and has vowed since then to help her learn magic her way with the glyphs so they could train together.
She even wanted to help Lilith and make her stay at the owl house. Imagine having not only one but two witch mentors!
However what Lilith announced that night made Luz shocked.
"What?!" She exclaimed, frowning. "Lilith you are leaving?"
"Well, yes. My place is at the emperor's coven. Plus I have to keep an eye on things over there to make sure an incident like this never happens again," Lilith reminded her.
"Well, yeah, but, won't they all come after you and be mad that you went against them?" Luz questioned.
Lilith sighed. "Possibly. But I have to do this, human. I need to watch them to protect Eda and you."
Luz was about to say something before Eda butted in.
"Now, Lily, are you sure if I let you go back there, you won't come after me again?" Eda questioned eyeing her up and down suspiciously with her arms crossed.
Lilith placed a hand on her heart and looked at her sister with soft and sincere eyes. "Edalyn, I swear on my life. I won't fall for Bellos tricks again. Plus I did save you and heal you. I mean look!"
She showed off her striped gray hair. "I put the curse on myself too. I really am on your side Edalyn. I only want to remain in the coven just to keep you safe. Please trust me dear sister."
Seeing the look on her sister's face and being reminded of how much she did for her most recently, Eda accepted.
"Okay, Lily," Eda stated, breaking into a smile. "I trust you. And if that emperor plans on messing with me again, I want you to blast him for me."
"Will do," Lilith smiled. "Well I better get going. Take care sister and human."
With that said, Lilith turned and disappeared deep into the forest.
As Luz and Eda watched her leave, Luz asked "Eda, do you think your sister will be okay?"
"Eh, she'll be fine, kid," Eda reassured her, waving it off. "Now let's head inside and hit the hay. It's been a rough day."
"Yeah, you're right." Luz agreed, feeling tired as well.
Suddenly Luz noticed that someone was missing. "Hey where's King?"
Eda smirked and pointed to the porch on the door where King was curled up like a precious little Kitty, dreaming pleasant dreams about taking over the world.
"Awww," Luz gushed, admiring King's napping. "He's like a little kitty cat!"
"I know! So adorable!" Eda smiled as she picked King up and held him in her arms. "Now come on. Let's go. You have plenty of spells to teach me tomorrow right?"
"Oh yes!" Luz broke into a wide smile as she started naming spells. "I have to show you the fire spell, ice spell-"
Eda rolled her eyes and groaned as they entered the house past a sleeping hooty. "Kid you can tell me tomorrow. I need some rest."
"Oh okay! Night Eda!"
"Night kid!"
And they all headed to their respective rooms for a nice long sleep after a hard day of battling the emperor.
"What?!"
"I'm sorry, Lilith. But betrayers like you aren't welcome in this coven anymore."
"But-but-"
"No buts!"
Lilith had just arrived at the emperor's castle and was pleading with Kikimora, the assistant to the emperor himself to let her back in, but she refused.
"You served in this coven for quite a long time, Lilith. The emperor chose you out of all the other witches to be in his coven, a very rare opportunity for witches and this is the thanks you give?!" Kikimora frowned, staring at Lilith with anger. "You betray him and run off with your sister?! DISGRACEFUL! You have brought extreme shame to this coven!"
Lilith tried to find an excuse, anything really just to find a way back in to spy on them and keep her sister safe. "Well I uh-"
"No, I don't want to hear it! Lilith Clawthorne you are officially banished from the emperor's coven! We never want to see her here again!"
"What?!" Lilith shouted, her mouth dropped in shock and her eyes widened in panic. "But Kikimora I-"
"I SAID LEAVE! NOW GOODBYE!" Kikimora snapped and slammed the door hard on Lilith's face.
Lilith sighed sadly as she walked away, placing a hand on her face.
"What am I to do now?" She wondered aloud.
Not only was she out of a job that she had served for many years, but now she also lost a way to make sure her sister was safe.
What's a witch's sister to do?
