Will You Come Back to the Tree?

A Hunger Games poem by

FleckaRAF

Do you, do you remember the time
when we were young and free?
When days were green and sun was gold
when we met beneath that tree?

They say the woods are haunted there,
they say the trees are evil.
But after first seeing your beauty there,
your memory haunts me still.

Will you, will you come back to the tree?
You said you'd meet me there.
They've chosen me, I'll be leaving soon.
Just let me me know you care.

The odds of me returning are small.
I've got a four percent chance of winning.
We know we're not afraid to die,
but our love was just beginning.

We found two ropes, tied around a branch,
and pulled one till it came free.
Will you tie a knot for each day I'm gone?
I'll be back soon, you'll see.

My love, I've waited all these years.
I've kept your promise true.
The rope is full, you're still not home.
I've suffered alone, but I know what to do.

I'll take the the second rope from the tree.
To be free of all this pain.
I'll tie the rope into a noose,
Then we will be together again.

This poem was inspired by a Hunger Games fanfiction I participated in on Quotev -

I created the male District 11 tribute, Clay Wastaen.

I highly recommend reading it, just search "The 144th Hunger Games" in your browser.

Hope you enjoyed my poem, if you guys think it's good I may write some more :)
