Right, time for a fight chapter! This is going to be fun! He lied through his teeth, expecting a struggle. Especially since I'm trying to figure out Metallo's personality.

Also I have to ask this but is it common among people to have these ideas for stories, art, or whatever you want to make, and then look back and think of how many mistakes you made? Like your okay with what you made one day and the next you feel like you screwed up somewhere?

Or is it just me and my sudden paranoia? Well whatever. Here's the chapter.

Chapter 5

Blues Vs. Metallo

Blues jumped off the roof into the alley below, landing between SuperGirl and the supposed Metallo.

Metallo paused for a moment to regard Blues. And then he groaned.

"Seriously? Another hero?" Metallo bemoaned.

"Well, what do you expect? You've been tearing the place up, someone was bound to notice." Blues responded.

"Gah, You heroes are like cockroaches." Metallo grunted. "Even so, most heroes never set foot here. Boy scout pretty much cleans his own messes, so what exactly brought you here? Sightseeing?"

Oddly talkative isn't he? Blues thought.

"You know what? Doesn't matter. The real question is, you honestly think you can take me!?"

"And you are?" Blues asked, thinking it best to confirm that this is Metallo or not.

"The new body probably would throw people off. I'm Metallo kid." Metallo bragged. "Look you're probably some newbie hero thinking to score big, what with that stupid whistle intro, or maybe some adrenaline junkie so I'll cut you some slack. Just walk away, and you won't end up in the ER. At best."

If Blues wasn't wearing the helmet, Metallo would have noticed his raised eyebrow.

"Yeah, and why should I listen to you?"

"What, have you never heard of me before or something? Or are you just plain stupid? I go up against Superman all the time, what makes you think you can take me?" Metallo asked.

Blues decided to take that as an invitation, his free hand transforming into his buster.

"This." Blues responded, immediately firing on Metallo.

The plasma bolt slammed into Metallo's shoulder.

Admittedly, Blues didn't know what he expected to happen. Maybe Metallo's arm would have gotten blown off? Or at least damaged and barely functioning.

Instead, all that showed anything had just happened was a scorch mark.

If Blues were closer, he would have noticed the dent left behind from the impact. Metallo did, and was unimpressed.

"You call that peashooter a weapon?!" Metallo practically barked out in laughter. Before he aimed his arm at Blues. "This is a real weapon!"

Metallo's wrist popped up, the barrel of a gun popping out. The plasma blast that followed however was much larger than what should have come out. Like the equivalent of a cannonball popping out of a straw.

Blues' response was to bring up his shield. Admittedly nervous, as his Proto Shield (Doc really needs to think of better names) was never tested against something with more power than his buster.

That thought immediately died when he felt the force of the blast meet his shield, followed by a familiar metallic "plink" noise.

Metallo barely had any time to react before his own blast came right back at him, carting him out of the alley and into the distance.

Blues currently had mixed feelings about that. On one hand, the shield worked like a charm. On the other, he probably just wasted Metallo.

The slight greenish glow nearby reminded him of something more pressing.

Holstering his shield onto his back, Blues turned his attention to Supergirl. Obviously covered in some form of Kryptonite.

The first thing Blues attempted was to brush the stuff off.

And it worked.

It's like dust. Weird. Hopefully she didn't breathe any of it in. Blues thought.

Once she was finally cleaned from the kryptonite dust, blues noticed some was now clinging to him.

"Great... How annoying." Blues muttered.

Blues then picked Supergirl up and moved out of the alley. Setting her against the wall before trying to dust himself off.

It was then that he noticed someone. A woman to be precise. One with black hair and a camera, who's eyes seemed to light up at the sight of him.

Oh please don't tell me that's who I think it is. Blues groused.

As if to answer his internal plea, there was a sudden sound of metallic clanking. And it was growing louder.

Blues had just enough time to turn and regard Metallo before he was promptly tackled. Metallo grabbing him and continued to charge back into the alley and through the wall of another building, using Blues as a battering ram, before finally tossing Blues out the window across the street and into a clothing store. Crashing into various racks of clothes.

Blues eventually dug himself out from the pile of clothes, before struggling to stand. His synthetic nerves protesting painfully.

"It's a necessary feature Doc said." Blues hissed in pain. "If he expects a thank you, he's not going to get it."

As Blues got to his feet, he noticed something stuck around his neck.

A blue scarf.

"Really?" Blues asked, before tossing the scarf. "It's the middle of summer, why are they still selling scarves? Who in their right mind would wear a scarf in summer?"

But maybe if it were in a different color.

Blues turned his attention to Metallo, who clearly didn't escape that earlier blast of his unscathed.

Metallo's chassis was gnarled, bits of metal twisted and cracked in places. Surprisingly the visible window showing the kryptonite heart was less damaged, definitely cracked but otherwise fine. Blues wasn't exactly familiar with any design of Metallo, but given his arrogant comment about going toe to toe with Superman, the damage is likely superficial.

Probably.

I'm going to have to ask Doc what he meant by "Not a threat". Blues thought.

He then took aim at Metallo, who responded to the action by jumping.

Before Blues could process what exactly happened, the ceiling started to cave in. Metallo then landed in front of him and grabbed both of Blues' arms with one hand before lifting him off the ground.

"You think you're real clever huh?" Metallo started before slamming Blues into a wall. "But I got you figured out now. You're more a ranged fighter, aren't you?"

Metallo than began to increase the strength of his grip. If Blues were a normal human, he was pretty sure his hands would have been ripped off by now. Although if this kept up ,it was likely still going to happen.

"Well, what happens if I disarm you?"

In an ironic way, the situation brought up a conversation Blues had with Doc not long ago.

"Hey Doc? How strong am I?"

"Pardon?" Doc asked glancing up at Blues from the makeshift training dummy he was making.

"How strong am I?"

"Like, physically strong?"

"Yeah."

Doc hummed before getting back to work.

"No clue."

Blues blinked. "What kind of answer is that? You made me, shouldn't you know?"

"If by strength you mean how hard can you punch, I'm not sure." Doc sighed. "If you meant how much can you lift? Maybe five-hundred lbs.? Or maybe just under one ton if you actually strained your systems trying."

"Well, I'm going to be getting into fights aren't I?" Blues started. "Sure I got my fancy arm cannon, but I doubt my opponent is just going to stand still and let me shoot them."

"I'm well aware Blues. But that's why we need to test these things. I don't, and I'm pretty sure you don't as well, want to accidentally kill someone by punching their chest in."

Blues shuddered at the thought.

Then another idea came to him.

"Say Doc, If you can make synthetic skin, why not muscles? Think that might have helped in figuring out my strength."

Doc paused.

"Maybe." He muttered. "But maybe that would be overkill? it's not like most robots even need muscles to crush cars or do what most super strength types can do."

"Uhh, Doc?"

"But at the same time, it could definitely add to their already existing strength. Maybe-"

Blues sighed. Realizing he just caused Doc to go into "scientist mode", his brain long gone now.

"We're going to be here a while." Blues groused.

Well, better than just letting him rip my arms off. Blues thought.

Blues brought his leg back, and in one swift motion, kicked Metallo square in the jaw.

Metallo staggered, but didn't let go.

Blues immediately shifted targets. Kicking Metallo in the chest.

More specifically, the window revealing his kryptonite heart.

The glass cracked more, but didn't quite break. Metallo caught on to this, and grabbed Blues leg.

"Okay, kid. No more games." Metallo growled. "I was just gonna break your arms. But now I think I'll break every bone in your body!"

Blues was about to start kicking with he remaining free leg, until he noticed something off in the distance.

And then he smirked.

Which didn't go unnoticed to Metallo.

"What are you smiling about-"

That was as far as Metallo got before Supergirl slammed him into the ground. The sudden shock causing Metallo to release his grip, letting Blues drop.

Someone took their sweet time getting up.

Blues groaned, forcing himself up. "Thanks for the assist."

"No problem. Uh..."

Blues paused, and turned to Supergirl. "What?"

The look on Supergirls face was... odd. Almost conflicted.

Did Doc ever say I was X-ray proof? I'm pretty sure he's paranoid enough to do that, so what's with her?

Blues quirked an eyebrow. "You're acting like you've never seen another hero before."

"N-No, I have. It's just-" Supergirl looked oddly uncomfortable. "Aren't you a bit young to be a hero?"

Blues paused. He will admit he never asked Doc whether or not he was supposed to look like a child or not, even if technically he's supposed to look more in the early teen years. But what's weird is that Supergirl, of all people, is asking him that.

May as well play along with it.

"You're not exactly in a position to say that. You're barely older than me!"

That caused Supergirl to scowl.

"Well for one, I've got super endurance. And you don't."

"And clearly that was working out so well for you earlier. You could at least say 'thank you' ya know."

While Blues was enjoying messing with Supergirl, it was sadly cut short by the sound of Metallo growling, as he slowly got out of the crater Supergirl created.

"Well, that didn't last long." Blues groused.

At this point, Blues just wants this fight to end.

Bringing out his buster, Blues took aim at Metallo's chest.

"So if I understand it correctly, you need that Kryptonite to even function. So what happens when it's introduced to some piping hot plasma!"

"No!"

Supergirl immediately grabbed Blues arm and threw off his aim.

Before he could even question why she did that, Metallo's wrist gun popped out again and opened fire. With Supergirl mostly in front of him, she ended up taking the brunt of the blast. The force of the explosion launched them both out onto the streets and into somebody's car.

Groaning, Blues managed to push himself up off the ground.

"What was that for exactly?" Blues asked.

"Huh...?" Supergirl asked in a daze, before shaking it off. "Oh, right. You can't shoot him. It won't work. It'll just bounce off him, like my heat vision did."

Wait, what?

"But it does work. I've done it before."

"What?"

"In fact, I even reflected one of his own shots back at him."

Although now I wonder why any of it worked.

Blues thought that maybe there was some difference between heat vision and plasma bolts. Not that he will get much time to question further, as Metallo began stomping his way into the street.

Right, questions for later. Although I'm not sure I can sit through another of Docs science lectures.

Blues took aim. "Right, let's try this again." He said opening fire.

Metallo's response was to bring his arms up, covering his kryptonite heart. His arms taking the brunt of damage.

Blues scowled. While his shots where landing, they seemed to be no more than bug bites to Metallo.

"I don't suppose you have something stronger than that?" Supergirl asked.

"Technically yes." Blues said, his voice slightly drowned out by the sounds of his buster. "The problem is, I haven't exactly tested it yet."

Metallo decided that he was done being used for target practice, and began charging at the pair.

Supergirl quickly intercepted Metallo, grappling him.

"Now's as good a time to test it as any!" She said.

"I can't!" Blues yelled.

"Why not?!"

"Metallo's a cyborg, I don't know where the machine ends and the human begins!"

"His head!" Supergirl strained, as Metallo slowly overpowering her. "He's basically just a brain in a robot body!"

"You know, it's rude to talk about me like I'm not here. Someone needs to teach you some manners." Metallo taunted, before his mouth opened wider.

And then a green laser fired out from his mouth into Supergirls face. Breaking from her weakened grip, Metallo proceeded to punch Supergirl into the street.

With the new information, and no better alternatives, Blues decided to start charging his buster.

Although now he really wished he listened to Doc more when he explained his weapon systems.

I really hope this doesn't take, like, five minutes to charge.

Fortunately for Blues, it took less than a minute to reach full charge. Though Blues was hesitant to use it, unsure what kind of damage it could do.

By this point, Metallo stopped his assault. He raised his wrist mounted cannon to aim down at Supergirl.

"Now or never!" Blues shouted, barely even taking aim as he fired the charge shot at Metallo.

That was all the warning Metallo got, as he looked up the only thing he saw was a large ball of plasma flying his way. The shot hit center mass, launching Metallo back slightly and practically eating away at Metallos frame. Until it reached its intended target.

The kryptonite heart shattered, with Metallo landing on his back.

Blues stood still for a moment and then smiled. He would have cheered too, but his injuries started protesting by then. He forced himself to walk, moving over to Supergirl.

By the time he got there, Supergirl was picking herself up.

"Did we win?" She asked, rubbing her head.

"Yeah, he's down."

Looking over to the fallen Metallo showed him twitching slightly, with some very colorful language being said.

"Guess he's got a back up power source. Surprised I didn't hit that too, honestly." Blues commented.

"If he's smart, he'll keep his mouth shut to conserve power." Supergirl added.

Blues chuckled before falling on his rear, a single spark flew off him.

"You okay?"

Blues nodded. "Yeah, don't worry. I'll live."

"Well, do you maybe want me to take you to a hospital?"

Blues regained his smirk, raising a hand to his helmet. "No need, I got a doctor on speed dial."

Before Supergirl could follow up, Blues vanished in a beam of light.

Oh man, this was a very off and on chapter. Between Metallo and Supergirl I had absolutely no idea if I was even writing them well.

This is much shorter than I would have liked too, but it fits the needed purpose. I need to know if my attempt at writing a "fight scene" was any good.

I just hope it was decent enough.
