Chapter One

Her head hurt and her eyes were blurry. She paused mid-stretch when she realised her eyes were probably blurry because she wasn't wearing her glasses.

She had woke up, after what felt like hours when it hadn't even been five minutes after she had defeated Tom. With nearly no recollection of what had happened between then and now, aside from the blazing white flash of... something.

She didn't know what it was, but she knew that whatever it was was the reason she was at least two feet shorter than when she had collapsed. Oh, did she mention she had also —somehow— aged in reverse in addition to her shaved of height. Height she had spent years. Years. Gaining. Now she was around four foot eight inches tall. Great.

Harriet wasn't sure if she wanted to curse whatever had brought her here or thank it. Irritated with how things were currently she rubbed her still blurry eyes, trying to think. Only instead of her face, she felt the familiar cold metal of her wire glasses.

Hesitating slightly Harriet blinked letting out a shaky breath as she pulled the object from her face her eyes squeezed shut tightly reluctant to believe she could see without them.

But upon opening her eyes the, now roughly eight? Nine? She panicked a bit at being unable to recall her current age. She knew she had been seventeen upon her departure of the Wizarding World, but now... Now she didn't know how old she would be or where the Being? Had brought her to.

As far as she could tell she was in some kind of grassy field... where the grass seemed to be taller than her. The sky was blue and cloudless, the air smelt fresh and unpolluted by human corruption. It was a nice change with the addition of being able to see clearly, without the aid of her very cheap glasses(courtesy of the Dursleys). Harriet could feel the tears burning the corners of her eyes being able to see so clearly made everything she had ever been through almost worth it. Almost. She still wished she had a choice then.

Again her thoughts brought her to a pause and she swiped away her tears. A choice. That was what she had asked for in return for completing the prophecy. A life where she could choose her own path to walk down. Once more she checked her surroundings. Yep. No path.

The grass rustled and she screamed in fright when something attached itself to her face, flailing her arms wildly to grasp something. Anything. Only to fall back on her arse, the... whatever it was scrambled off her face and back into the long grass. Harriet only managed to catch an upside down image of a furry green tail of some kind of weird creature native to this new world.

She didn't know why she was so surprised she had seen weirder things in Hagrid's old hut. Her heart clenched when she remembered the friendly half-giant and how distressed he had been the Mrs Malfoy declared her to be dead. But decided against pursuing thoughts of the past, she had already spoken with her parent's shades before leaving and she had done all she could to save her friends. Professor Dumbledore had told her it was her choice to move on or go back and she had done both. There was no use complaining now. Even when she was two feet shorter... maybe she could complain about that though.

Huffing the young child saviour trudged off in the opposite direction the weird green thing had run off in. Hoping she wouldn't run into anything else on her way to finding civilization. If that was even a thing here. But she had hope. And a wand, an old cloak and a probably useless stone.

The grass whacked her in the face when she tripped over a rock and began her tumbling descent down the apparent, grassy hilltop she had been on. For the second time that day, Harriet found herself cursing the thing that had dumped her in the middle of nowhere.

Harriet crashed landed in a pond. A pond that just happened to be at the bottom of the very steep hill and the other side of the very long grass.

A shadow of something large swam over her and when Harriet caught sight of the monstrous blue sea dragon-like creature she let out a bubbly scream and comically swam away from it as fast as she could almost shooting out of the water like a bullet. Reminding her of her second task during the technically Quatrawizard Tournament.

Clawing frantically at the bank the smaller and younger Girl-Who-Lived to entertain the Gods, flopped on the wet grass laying on her back. Swearing off swimming in any large body of water in this new world, for however long it took her to get used to it. A laugh tore from her lips it was a strange sound coming from a child with how crazed it was.

"Is this my punishment?" She asked no one in particular. But was once more shocked to find she was not alone. By now she shouldn't have been surprised.

Very hesitantly Harriet turned her head in the direction of the new noise and withheld a groan. Of bloody course!

Standing not ten feet away from her, was a bright orange scaly mean-looking dragon-like creature and it was glaring. Glaring! At her then it bared its very long and sharp fangs and roared. Her eyes were wide with fear and without thinking twice the something-year-old scrambled to her feet once more and ran. Away from the monster in the pond, away from the monster on the land by the pond and far away from where she had started.

She didn't look back and didn't stop not even when she felt the claws of fatigue sink into her muscles. She needed to be anywhere besides there!

Thankfully it seemed luck was on her side now, as the long grass had begun to thin and shorten with each step and a faint outline of a dirt road could be seen in the distance. Then again Harriet's luck was never all good. And she blacked out just as she reached the side of the road.

Eight or nine-year-old Harriet "Harry" Potter, finds herself stranded in the middle of nowhere with strange monsters lurking in every shadow. With nowhere in mind she makes a run for it hoping to find some kind of sentient being willing to help her.
