Author's Note: HOWDY! This one is not a request but something that come off the top of my head. This one is an Au of an AU. The Au is Techno mom, where it involves a what if where Peridot adopts Mabel. This au is not talked about anymore but I've grown a soft spot for the AU of that AU, and that is Techno Daughter, the Relativity/Gem kids of Techno Mom.
This story involves where an Adult Mabel finds and adopts kid Peridot.
Now the song I'm using comes from the Disney Movie Oliver and Company.
Enjoy! I believe this is one of my favorite ones to write.
Good Company.
"Log date 7 15 2. It's been a 3rd Earth rotation since I was found by the human Mabel and staying at her…Mystery Shack." Peridot stared speaking in her handheld recorder while walking through the shake.
"Since then she has given me this…primitive handheld recording device to record my logs; among my stay here I have taken sites on the strange objects that this shack has to offer."
"Some are strange and-" Peridot stopped when she noticed a new object in a room. The object was big and stood on three legs with a lid on its back a stick hoisted up a lid and at the front of this object a row of white objects and in front of the object a stool.
Peridot carefully crept around the object, "It appears I have discovered a strange new object within the shack." She recorded while never taking her eyes off the object.
"I am now approaching the object," Peridot carefully made her way towards the object, she observed one of the white objects. She carefully reached out to one of them and pressed down on it.
DING!
"AH!" Peridot screamed, dropped her recorder and jumped away from the object only to find herself caught by Mabel passing by.
"Oh! Well, someone is being a little jumping bean today," Mabel giggled.
"THAT THING HISSED AT ME!" Peridot screamed while pointing at the object.
Mabel looked at the object and laughed, "Oh, Peri that is just the Piano I ordered."
Peridot frowned "First of all I said not to call me that and second what's a Piano?"
"Why this is, and A Grand Piano at that," Mabel carried Peridot back inside, the young gem kept holding onto the woman just in case.
"It is a musical instrument," Mabel leaned Peridot over the Piano to look inside, "See, those are its strings and those row of white things in front are its teeth-"
"TEETH!?" Peridot held onto Mabel tighter, the old woman chuckled at the silly gem's reaction.
"Maybe teeth's the wrong word to use." Mabel then walked around the front of the piano and took a seat on the stool, "Now there is nothing to be scared of."
Peridot watched as Mabel reached her hand towards the white objects, she closed her eyes tight waiting for the upcoming horror.
(A short version of 'Those endearing young charms' for those who don't know that. Check YT for Looney tunes piano gag.)
Peridot opened one eye at the tune coming from…this Piano.
Mable giggled, "And not an explosion in sight. Feel better now?"
It is a music device. Peridot blushed in embarrassment, "Yes."
Mable smiled as she sat Peridot next to her on the bench, "I bought this a couple of years ago. Kind of forgot I had this, thanks for finding it for me."
Peridot huffed while glaring at the object that she foolishly once feared. Mabel tapped her chin as an idea began formed. "Say, you want to watch me play?"
"Do I have to?" Peridot asked.
"You don't have to but it would make this old woman happy to play for an audience," Mabel answered.
"Oink!"
Peridot jumped at the sound of the large fat animal that she usually finds sleeping around the shack, now the large creature was walking towards them.
"Aw see, Waddles wants to hear me play," Mable grinned at Peridot, "Well?"
Peridot sighed, "Fine."
Mable clapped her hands, "Good. Now watch this old hag work."
Peridot's original plan was to let her play her silly instrument and while she was distracted playing, she would get her recorder and…and…
But as Mable played, the music coming from the piano caught Peridot's attention causing her to stay, watch, and listen.
Mabel: You and me together we'll be.
Forever you'll see.
We two can be good company.
You and me.
Yes, together we two.
"Oink!"
"Oh Waddles, don't be jealous you are still my favorite pig," Mabel giggled as waddles laid on his belly and joined Peridot in listening to her music.
Mabel: Together that's you.
Mabel tapped Peridot's noise brining a chuckle to the little gem.
Mabel: Forever with me.
We'll always be good company.
You and me.
Yes, together we'll be.
Finishing Mable put her hands to her side and looked down at Peridot, "Well, what do you think?"
Peridot's eyes sparkled in awe, "Can you play again?" Mable's only response to that was a chuckle.
Throughout the rest of the days, weeks and months. Mable and Peridot did a lot of things together.
One day, Mabel took her to Lake Gravity Falls to fish and spend half of the time trying to untangle the fishing hook from Peridot's hair, which to both their surprise when a fish jumped out of the lake and landed in Peridot's hands.
Mable also took her to Funland and Peridot spot a stuff alien toy form one Kid Smiley's stands. Peridot tried to toss the rings on the bottle but failed, but in the end, Mabel managed to win the toy for her, which Peridot showed her gratitude by hugging the stuff toy with great affection.
And while they walked, Peridot noticed the one called Steven along with the three other gem kids laughing with each other while the three tried to hold onto his hands. Peridot looked at Mabel and gently grabbed held onto her hand. The old woman smiled down at the little gem, and she shared that smile as they continued on.
Then one day Mabel took Peridot to the court office, when asked why they're here, Mable's answer was, "It's a surprise. Now close your eyes until I say so."
Peridot shrugged and did as she was told. She waited for what felt like hours while sitting on a chair. She nearly fell asleep until Mabel tapped her shoulder.
When she uncovered her eyes, instead of seeing Mable, she saw a sheet of paper in front of her. Mable grinned while pointing at a specific spot on the paper that caused Peridot to gaps.
Official name for the adopted child: Peridot Pines.
Peridot gave a big smile as she jumped at the old woman causing both of them to laugh with great joy.
After that, night began to fell and Mabel started tucking her new Daughter to bed.
Peridot: You and me together we'll be.
Forever, I see.
We'll always be good company.
You and me.
Now, I believe.
Peridot laid down on her bed, held her toy tight as Mabel covered her up with the blanket she made, then removed her glasses and kissed her gem, and went to turn off the lights.
"Goodnight, Peri," Mable said softly.
Peridot yawned as sleep was ready to claim her, "Goodnight. Mom."
When sleep finally got her, Mabel placed her hand on her heart as she shed a happy tear. Then she turned off the lights and closed the door.
Happily, at last to have a child of her own.
The End.
Author's Note: Took a while but I did this one justice, I think. What do you guys think of this? Love it? Hate it? Too schmaltzy? What do you think?
