Author's Note: Hi, folks! Letting you know I've got an idea songfic before Christmas comes (or any holiday you may or may not celebrate during this month, it's all good.) but this is not the one.
But it is a request from Phillip Clark, and it is from one of the famous Rankin/Bass specials Santa Clause is Coming to Town.
This is set in the Main UF universe and it sets after Peridot called Yellow Diamond a Clod and after the kids listened to her recordings.
Now enjoy this latest Songfic!
One Foot in Front of The Other.
"Oh, Peri!" Mabel squealed, "I just can't get over how you're officially a good guy!"
Peridot groaned as she was once again caught in Mabel's friendly tight hug inside the barn. "Mabel please let go." But then Steven joined in the hug.
"Oh, Peridot. Now that you are a good guy, you'll get use to these hugs." But despite Steven's kind words and hug form the two kids, Peridot did not share their warm feeling.
"I don't know," Peridot said as she pulled away from the hug. "Am I really a good guy now?"
Peridot sat down on a bundle of hay thinking on it, "What do you mean?" Mabel asked, "Of course you're good, don't you remember when you called Yellow Di-"
"Yes-yes I remember," Peridot squeezed the bridge of her noise, "But I don't know about good. I'm still the same gem that threatened to destroy you. Even Dipper had doubts of me changing."
"But Dipper and everyone else has come around," Steven said, trying to cheer Peridot up. "They know you've changed for the better."
"But have I really?" Peridot asked, "What if one day I change my mind? What if I go back to the Diamonds? ARRRAG!" Peridot grabbed her hair in frustration.
"IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO CHANGE!"
Mabel and Steven looked at each other and back at Peridot, and to the Gem's surprise…they laughed.
"What? WHY ARE YOU BOTH LAUGHING AT MORALITY CRISIS?!"
"Sorry, Peridot," Mabel said as she and Steven finished laughing. "But changing from Bad to Good is easy."
Steven nodded, "Yeah it is easy as taking your first step."
Peridot had a confused look, "I don't understand that?"
Steven smiled, "Well, let me demonstrate."
Steven grabbed a broom and started dancing while stepping towards the barn door.
Steven: Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking cross the floor.
Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking out the door.
You'll never will get where you're going, if you never get up on your feet. Come on there's a good tail wind blowing!
A fast walking friend is hard to beat.
Then Mabel grabbed a rake (After she took the rake part of it off) and she joined Steven in the dance and also headed towards the barn door.
Mabel: Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking cross the floor.
Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking out the door.
If you want to change your direction. If your time of life is at hand, well don't be the rule be the exception.
A good way to start is to stand.
Then both Steven and Mabel joined in song as the both walked out the barn and motioned for Peridot to join them.
Steven and Mabel: Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking cross the floor.
Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking out the door.
Peridot looked at them and then at her reflection in the mirror and was startled a little when she saw the old her. The one with limb enhancers and a cold way of looking at organic worlds.
Peridot: If I were to change the reflection, I see in the mirror each morn.
Steven: Oh, you do.
Peridot: You mean that it's just my election?
Mable: Just that!
Peridot: To vote for a chance to be reborn?
Steven and Mabel: THAT'S RIGHT!
Peridot tapped the mirror and the old, tall, and evil her disappeared and replaced with the new, short, good her.
She nodded at herself and turned to the Barn door and her…friends and started walking towards them, all the while as she closed her eyes.
You put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking cross the floor.
You put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking out the door.
When she felt that she reached the Barn door, she opened her eyes and gaze at the full view of the grass, flowers, and all of the Earth's beauty.
Mable and Steven each grabbed onto Peridot's arm and all three started dancing together.
All this caused the little green gem to smile, very clear she knew what side she's on and that she is going to stay.
Steven, Mabel, and Peridot: Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll are walking cross the floor.
Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you'll be walking out the door!
The End.
Author's Note: Hello again! A shout out to Phillip Clark for the song request, and once again if anyone has a songfic Idea, don't be afraid to send a request!
